A fagylaltgépek eleinte kézi hajtásúak voltak. Eleinte „hideg nyalat”-nak nevezték a hűsítő édességet. Did you know? An Enigma machine, displayed in the Battle of the Atlantic section of the Second World War Gallery (Gallery 3), helps to tell the history of military intelligence in the Second World War, and Allied efforts to try to find out what the Germans were doing and planning. The ability to read German messages could – and did – give Allied military commanders and political leaders significant advantages. Drawing on Polish expertise and experience, the British first broke the German Navy’s Enigma cipher in 1941. This allowed them to read many important messages and to help track the movements of German U-Boats. Enigma could not always be deciphered, however, because the Germans kept improving the equipment and changing its setting. Come see this Enigma machine, and so much more! The Canadian War Museum is now open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Thursday. For more information and to book your timed ticket online, visit warmuseum.ca.
