It feels like a lifetime ago, but back in 2019 the most epic Sabbath cover band formed in NYC consisting of Angel Deradoorian (Deradoorian), Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Mick Barr (Ocrilim, Krallice), Greg Fox, and Brad Truax (Interpol). I went to see them pretty much every time they played. It was the type of pure fun that I am missing like crazy right now. The Presidents of the United States of America -25th Anniversary Kickstarter Limited Edition Green with Bronze marbling This was a release commemorating the 25th anniversary of the album and was strictly through the bands kickstarter they put together to make this happen. The band put this together due to the limited amount of original copies out there and the price they being were listed for. I was a little skeptical at first about whether it was legit or not and now I regret not ordering more or getting the autographed one seeing the resale price on these. Nonetheless an absolute classic and it looks great! . . . The Presidents of the United States of America is the debut studio album by the American alternative rock band The Presidents of the United States of America, released on March 10, 1995 via PopLlama Records. Columbia Records signed the band shortly after its release to handle increased distribution for the album. Most were pressed in editions of 25 copies or less, and over the years many were given away or tossed into the crowd, usually resulting in a broken record. Настало время признаться - я все больше и больше проникаюсь альбомом Фиби Бриджерс. Так бывает достаточно часто - при первых прослушивания альбом вызывает больше не любовь, но чем больше пытаешься разобраться в нем, тем глубже он начинает цеплять. В этой пластинке особенно цепляет ее оформление и сам винил. На первый взгляд она ничем не привлекательная, но в лучах солнечного света становится восхитительной. Мне кажется трек «I Know The End» сейчас для меня лучший трек года. 〰️ Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher • 2020 • dead ocean • limited blue and green swirl LP gatefold 〰️ Its time to confess - Im falling more and more in love with Phoebe Bridgers album. This happens enough time - at the first listening the album no longer evokes love, but the more you try to understand it, the deeper it starts to catch. In this record, the design and the vinyl itself are especially catchy. At first, it is not attractive at all, but in the rays of sunlight it becomes delightful. As with other LPs Stoltz makes virtually every noise on the album which was written and recorded in 2019 at his Electric Duck Studio in. San Francisco. A few friends popped in to play along… Stoltz former bandmate, Echo & the Bunnymen’s Will Sergeant adds electric guitar to “The Quiet Ones” a sort of Scott Walker lyrical take on strangers and neighbors. Karina Denike formerly of Dance Hall Crashers adds gorgeous vocals on the bossanova groover “Moon Shy”, where Sergeant pops up again in a spoken word role on the outro. This week, a shipment showed up at @crookedbeatrecords with all the records that hadn’t shown up on Record Store Day, including this one: Various Artists, ‘Sunrise On The Blues’. 🌞 Sun Records is best remembered for mid/late 50s rock and roll artists like Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, but before the rise of rock and roll, Sun Studios made its name recording blues artists. And what artists! Many of the greats, including Howlin’ Wolf, James Cotton, and Earl Hooker (all of whom appear on this album,) recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis before continuing north to Chicago. 🌞 Every song on this compilation is a delight to listen to, and as a whole, it shows what an amazing variety of creative directions musicians were taking with the blues in 1950s Memphis. The album opens with Howlin’ Wolf’s joyful take on big band classic “In The Mood”, and goes on to feature one-man bands Joe Hill Louis and Dr. Ross the Harmonica Boss, early R&B from Johnny Adams, harmony singing from the Prisonaires, country blues from old-timer Sleepy John Estes, and piano blues by Rosco Gordon, the godfather of ska who never set foot in Jamaica. The stylistic diversity on this compilation is just amazing. It would be a great beginner blues compilation, as well as a great addition to an aficionado’s shelves.
