Anisha Hassan 21 spent her summer examining emerging adulthood in India among people aged 18-29 with visual impairments, thanks in part to funding from the @clarkuniversity LEEP Fellowship. A psychology course taught by instructor Deeya Mitra inspired Anisha to investigate how the concept of emerging adulthood developed in a non-Western context. Last winter, Anishas on-campus job as a front desk assistant in the Shaich Family Alumni and Student Engagement Center helped her learn more about Clark summer funding opportunities. The LEEP Fellowship was a perfect fit because it gave her freedom to self-design an independent research project. Because of this funding, Anisha has solidified her passion for research & learned how to keep a professional routine. Her advice to fellow students? Make connections on and off campus, seek out opportunities that interest you, and ask for help from Clark faculty and staff. • • • #clarkconnectsyou #clarku #leepfellowship #summerfunding #careerdevelopment #studentspotlight - @clark_connect on Instagram

Student Spotlight! Edson is one of our seniors this year, preparing to apply to colleges and scholarships as we speak. When Edson joined the Path to College Fellowship, Edson wanted to be an architect. Path to College was able to match him with an architect as a mentor, and to link him with an internship at REG Architects in downtown West Palm Beach. Since then, Edson has blossomed into a natural leader and is now the student body president of his senior class. In fact, on average, PTC fellows exhibit a 62% increase in confidence and willingness to take on responsibility. He has also managed to qualify for the 75% Bright Futures Scholarship, by improving his SAT score by 160 points through our comprehensive SAT prep! According to Edson, I was kind of shy, but with Path to College Ive met some friends and now Im more confident. I think Im a better leader because of Path to College and my internship with REG Architect. We are incredibly proud of Edson and cannot wait to see what he will continue to accomplish in his bright future! #enrichachieveserve #yourfutureisnotquarantined #collegeprep #satprep #mentoringmatters - @pathtocollege on Instagram

Meet Francis Naimodu. When he grows up, he wants to be an engineer. Already he is the go-to fixer and problem solver in his Maasai Mara community. When Francis heard that a free high school for boys was opening, he saw his future open wide. Raised by his older brother Peter after their parents died, Francis grew up being told an important lesson: “If you don’t step forward, you will always remain in the same place.” Francis worked hard to earn money as a shepherd to support his schooling, and Peter support him as he applied to and earned a place in the first graduating class at Kisaruni Boys Secondary School—the first in his family to attend secondary school. “I’m proud to walk behind my brother, wherever he takes us,” says Peter. - @wemovement on Instagram

Presenting the newest Planning Commissioner: Theresa Imperial! She has some big shoes to fill in serving out Commissioner Myrna Melgars term, but Theresa is more than up to the task! . Theresa comes in with a decade of experience working deeply and collaboratively across San Francisco neighborhoods, especially communities most impacted by displacement. As the Executive Director of the Bill Sorro Housing Program, she worked with residents firsthand on affordable housing and land use issues. Theresa is also comprehensive in her lens on community-led planning development; understanding that different neighborhoods have different needs. Now more than ever, we need leaders who have a clear vision for the future of San Francisco and who have deep roots working with the communities who have the most to lose. . I am excited for Theresa to bring her unique perspective to the Commission and look forward to working with her in her new role. (And I am also proud that Theresa, like Myrna, is also a #District7 resident!) . Thank you to my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors for unanimously supporting her appointment and a special note of gratitude to the community organizations who also encouraged her throughout this process! Congratulations Theresa! #RepresentationMatters #PublicService #CommunityPlanning - @normanyeesf on Instagram

One of our long-standing CRJE trainers and former DOE educator, Steve, has this to say about why he does this work: . “...I was an early childhood educator for thirty years, and am passionate about reading childrens literature with other educators through a critical antiracist lens, so that we can ensure that our all of our young people, black, white, Latinx, Asian, indigenous, and multiracial, have access to many books in their classrooms that provide a mirror of their own lived experience, and a window into the experiences of others. . We are deeply alarmed and saddened by the large-scale armed attack unleashed against Artsakh and the outburst of armed conflict in the region. This adventurism of Azerbaijan carried out with support of Turkey is a gross violation of international humanitarian law. We condemn in the strongest terms the escalation of violence by targeting the civilians with large caliber weapons and attacks on the civilian infrastructures. It is our firm belief that a sustainable settlement to the conflict can be achieved solely by peaceful negotiations. The spirit of our shared humanity is in the very core of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, rooted in the tragic events of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. We know from our history and personal experience that even in the darkest times, a brighter future is in the hands of those who are committed to giving others help and hope. Today, when the use of force leads to the loss of life, we urge the people across the globe to demand immediate de-escalation of the conflict and to help bring peace to the population of Artsakh. The world should not watch impassively. We call on the international community to take all appropriate measures to help restore peace in the region without delay. Ever heard of the term toxic positivity ? Do you know even positivity can be dangerous ? There is no denying that we all are on a lookout for a little sunshine in our lives, no matter how things are going on. If you are someone who is battling anxiety and depression, even an ounce of positivity can do wonders in your life and get you through the day. But forcing your mind to be “positive” or quotes like “positivity vibes only” can do more harm than good. A normal human being feels all the emotions be it negative or positive. No one can be positive all the time. Being positive all the time means you are denying or ignoring other emotions to be happy. And that can actually lead to a negative mind. “Everything will be fine.” “Stay positive! It could be wrose” This kind of encouragement and self talk is so common that it oversimplifies the human brain and how we process emotions, and it can actually be detrimental to our mental health. “You can fight toxic positivity by acknowledging or recognising that multiple complex emotions can exist in you all at once.” Check out the image above on how to avoid toxic positivity. Happy weekend you all. 🌻🤍 #toxicpositivity #toxicpositivityhelpsnoone #helpingothers #healingminds #healingenergy #healingvibrations #healingquotes #healingmindbodyandsoul #healingmindset #anxiety #anxietysucks #anxietyfighter #anxietyhelp #anxietyisreal #anxietygirl #anxietyhealing #youarenotyourillness #youarenotalone #blogposts #blogspot #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealing #mentalhealthtips #mentalhealthhelp #mentalhealthwarriors #healersblogging #anxietyanddepression #anxietyanddepressionawareness #toxicpositivity #keeppositive - @anxietyisserious on Instagram

Did you know that Not My Reality’s survivor support group is held every last Tuesday of the month at 6pm @ Blend Nutrition bar? The main goal in the group is to promote resiliency and create a safe place to share your story, or simply listen. Last month, we discussed how sexual assaults are unusual and unexpected. Since the events are unpredicted and extremely emotional, the trauma that comes with an assault has the potential to influence how a person acts or even identifies. Trauma can impact one’s personality, self image, and social lives. Learning to recognize these changes can be painful during the initial stages of healing from a sexual assault. During our last group session, we made a list of items that we love about ourselves to help focus on parts of our identity that we cherish, then made a list of things that may change after an assault. We would love to see you there. Would you like a PDF to join into our next healing group? Let us know! - @notmyrealityorg on Instagram

Following up on what would have been one of the themes of our Annual Event - CineArt 20. We have decided to run a campaign on the Awareness of Child Abuse in Pakistan. After compiling a very detailed research for over a period of 6 months, using Facts that have been assessed and double checked by taking into consideration real reported cases; we have designed this thread and made a Video which we will be posting tomorrow. This does not only give us unfortunate gruesome information in numbers about the issue of Sexual Abuse against children in Pakistan, but also methods to teach yourself and your children to move in a direction of preventing this heinous crime from happening. The purpose behind our campaign is only educating ourselves, Adults and Children on how to be cautious of people around us and how to be more careful than we already are. Give The Gift Of Warmth: As the calendar turns to September and cooler weather is around the corner, Adopt A Native Elder needs to raise funding to provide firewood vouchers to all 850 Elders in the program. Elders like Jenny, from the photo, heat and cook using their wood burning stoves. Elders burn an average of 9 loads of firewood during the Winter to survive. On the Fall food runs, Adopt A Native Elder will be distributing firewood vouchers to every Elder who has not received one from their sponsor. In addition to the food run support, we hope to be able to provide a firewood voucher to every Elder in November and December. Distributing these firewood vouchers for every Elder will cost a minimum of $200,000.00. During these times of great struggle and loss on the reservation, Adopt A Native Elders goal is to not loose a single Elder to freezing to death this winter. If you can donate to provide firewood to an Elder, please do so through the link below. Every $100 in donations provides a $100 firewood voucher to an Elder in need. Recently, Dr. Rodriguez was appointed to assistant group practice director for clinic 4ABA under Dr. L. DePaola Cefola. Favorite NYU Dentistry Memory: As a student, a Dean invited me to a photo shoot, which led to my photo accompanying an article published in a national magazine entitled, “Women Put Bite Into Teeth Biz. I still have a copy of it. Also, friendships started in dental school lasts a lifetime! Even though we’ve all relocated after graduation, we’ve stayed in touch over the years and look forward to reunions. Favorite ethnic food/restaurant:Platanos maduros (sweet plantains) with some arroz con pollo is my comfort food. I also love Dallas BBQ restaurant. Hispanic Heritage Month is important to me because I work hard to be a role model for aspiring dental students. Hispanic student enrollment has increased from 955 students nationwide in ’84 to 1,112 applications in the 2017 class. Today, September 30, 2020 is #OrangeShirtDay. Today, we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and learn more about the history of those schools. Phyllis Webstad wore an orange shirt given to her by her grandmother on her first day of school at St. Josephs Mission residential school in BC. Upon her arrival, Phyllis clothes including her new orange shirt were taken and never returned. For Phyllis, the color orange reminds her of her experience at residential school. All of us children were crying and no one cared. The message that Phyllis wants to share today - and every day - is that every child matters. “Every child matters.” « Chaque enfant compte. » - @aboriginalsportcircle on Instagram

As part of @Paths_to_Parenthub Ill be hosting regular live webinars with expert speakers, the first of which is just 1 week away. Im delighted to be joined by the wonderful Julianne Boutaleb, perinatal psychologist who specialises in working with fertility issues, as we talk all about the grief involved when making the decision to use a donor. How, for many of us, there is a huge amount of grief to process as we let go of our old dream, before accepting & re-defining what will become our new dream. We’ll explore reflections on what our ‘old dream’ might have looked like, hearing Julianne’s expert advice whilst sharing my own personal experience. It’s understanding what it is we are having to let go of & exploring the importance of mourning this loss. We’ll speak candidly about the range of feelings we might experience when letting go of our long-held & deep-rooted dream. We’ll then switch to how we can redefine that dream, allowing it to become our new dream, giving hope for something I’m now lucky enough to call my reality. Julianne will give advice on how we might be able to do this & will share what some of the common fears & worries might be. Ultimately it’s not about settling for ‘second best’, but about re-conceiving your personal dream. This webinar will be no doubt an emotional one, but an important topic to recognise & for feelings to be validated. It’s suitable for anyone who’s feeling like they’re grieving the loss of a dream – whether you’re embarking on solo motherhood after always dreaming of doing it with a partner, having to consider a sperm donor, an egg donor or double donation. If you’re partnered, it’s a great one to watch together – allowing you to open up a dialogue about each other’s dreams, in the safety & comfort of your own home. To access this & all other webinars (swipe ➡️ the next 3 we have planned) become a member today! Members have the opportunity to submit questions in advance & have access to all recorded webinars, live chats, our connection site & a whole host of other resources. Today is Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day is a day of action to recognise and honour the thousand of Indigenous children who were sent to Residential Schools, both those that survived and the countless we’ve lost. The legacy of this colonial system is still felt today by the countless families and communities across Canada that were affected over the 160 years that the system operated. The injustices faced by Indigenous Peoples are ongoing. While the schools may have closed in 1996, the colonial system continues in a different form and the oppression of Indigenous Peoples persists. Today is Orange Shirt Day, but the fight for true reconciliation must continue every day. As Racelle Kooy and I said in our joint statement on National Indigenous Peoples Day, true reconciliation requires Indigenous self-determination and dismantling systems of oppression. Recognising today is just one small step in that direction. - @annamiepaul on Instagram

Diaphragmatic breathing is an often overlooked and under prescribed exercise. It is an effective, inexpensive, ‘non-pill’ remedy for reducing stress, lowering anxiety, lowering high blood pressure, improving symptoms of asthma, and even plays a role in relieving chronic constipation. Like all recommendations from doctors, breathing exercises should be prescribed with instructions that include the dose (i.e. number of breaths), frequent,y and duration of use. When practiced correctly, diaphragmatic breathing can affect numerous organ systems in a positive way. Just like you need to eat and sleep well to stay healthy, it is important to breathe well! -Dr. Preeti Kulkarni, ND Dr.Preeti Kulkarni is a licensed naturopathic doctor and an Ambassador for the Institute for Natural Medicine. The Georgian Bay Biosphere team is honouring September 30th, 2020 as Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day, which started in 2013, was created to educate people and to promote awareness about the Residential School system and the impact on Indigenous communities throughout Canada. We wear Orange to honour all residential school survivors, and those that did not make it home. We wear Orange in affirmation of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. The colour orange refers to the new shirt worn by six-year-old Phyllis Webstad on her first day at a residential school in Williams Lake, B.C., in 1976. The shirt, a gift from her grandmother, was taken from her by school officials and never returned. #OrangeShirtDay #everychildmatters #ProudToShare @gbanishinaabekyouth - @gbaybiosphere on Instagram

It is #OrangeShirtDay today. A day for each of us to take time to reflect on the importance of acknowledging the survivors of residential schools and to remember those who died in the school system. The catastrophic impacts continue to be felt across generations. It is a day to recognize one of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions recommendations for a National Day to honour over a 150,000 survivors, their families and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process. The annual Orange Shirt Day on September 30th opens the door to global conversation on all aspects of Residential Schools. It is an opportunity to create meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind. This is a discussion all Canadians can tune in to and create bridges with each other for reconciliation. This is a day for survivors to be reaffirmed that they matter, and so to those that have been affected. Today we honour the day by acknowledging the trauma and abuse inflicted on generations of First Nations, Inuit and Métis and commit to building a better future. At UNA-Canada, the very important work we have recommitted to on equity, diversity and inclusion, builds on the important work that we have done over many years especially with young Canadians and are doing now through our programming under the guidance of the TRC recommendations are linked. Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, who coined the term intersectionality, asks us to see Orange Shirt Day as another vital opportunity to address system racism. Episode 129 – Digging up the Truth: The Celine Archive with Celine Parreñas Shimizu (Social Distance Series) In 1932, Celine Navarro, a young Filipina American, was buried alive and murdered by other Filipinos just outside of Stockton, California. The murder of Navarro caught national media attention, sensationalizing the crime and painting Filipinos as savage members of primitive cults. Though mostly forgotten now, this horrific incident reverberated among the Filipino American community during the 1930s. In this TFAL episode, we spoke with filmmaker and professor Celine Parreñas Shimizu about her upcoming film @thecelinearchive. The documentary film explores the murder of Celine Navarro, its impact on Navarro’s descendants, and its importance in Filipino American history and the history of race and gender in the United States. Listen as we dive deep into a largely unknown and dark part of Filipino American history. You can check out the film, THE CELINE ARCHIVE, at its world premiere in the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Head to @vcmediaorg for ticket info. You can also check out the film as part of CAAMFest @caamedia later this month. Finally, check out TFAL co-host Elaine Dolalas as she moderates an online panel to further discuss THE CELINE ARCHIVE with Celine Parreñas Shimizu as well as members of Celine Navarro’s relatives. We are excited to announce that we at Fashion Connect Africa are embarking on a 1 MILLION FACE MASKS FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES PROJECT which will involve the production and distribution of quality face masks to rural communities. 86% of Ghanaian workers operate in the informal sector and some of these people have lost their source of income because of the lockdown measures taken by the government against COVID-19. Through this project, more people will be engaged to help produce and distribute the facemasks. This will ensure that they have a source of income for a period of time and are empowered to provide for their ends meet. The production of these face masks will be handled by the FCA Garment Factory which is reputable for producing quality clothing materials including face masks. We ask that you join us on this mission either as a donor, or a volunteer and together, we can help safeguard people’s lives. You can reach out to us via DM or at info@fashionconnectafrica.com if you want to be a partner in this project. WARBY WOOD Meet Rachel Hogan and Doug McGregor Up in the Warby Ranges above Wangaratta, wood craftsman Doug McGregor carefully examines each and every piece of timber. He has his own small scale timber mill and works with his daughter, a designer, to make a range of exquisite handmade homewares. Carved from local hardwood timbers, they are sold through their business Warby Wood and on their online store at www.buyfromwagaratta.com.au We start with the tree, says daughter, Rachel Hogan. Local trees with their own history, she explains. We recently were working with an old silky oak we felled in an Anglican convent, she says. Farmers we know ring us up when an ancient river red gum falls over, or it could be a red stringybark. We take the timber back to dads and let it dry and cure for 12 months. Other timbers they source from the region include she oak, white cedar, blackwood, ironbark and cypress pine. Doug makes cheese boards, pizza paddles, rolling pins, chopping boards, tapas boards, jewellery boxes, and beautifully carved salad bowls. These are particularly well crafted with each bowl is hand carved from a block of solid timber, then roughly lathed into the shape and cured for months to allow the wood to dry completely. The bowls are then finished, sanded, treated with tung oil, and, finally, polished with a layer of beeswax and olive oil. More than homeware, they are heirlooms in waiting. We have a lot of people who buy a bowl or a board for themselves, says Rachel. They get so much pleasure from it that they will order one to be made for a loved one for a special gift such as a wedding present, says Rachel. People truly appreciate something beautiful made from wood that carries a story. Rachel loves working with her dad Doug. When they have a little spare time, they will wander into the bush at Warby-Ovens National Park near Dougs house. If you simply sit still and look and listen, says Rachel, You will see or hear something new every time you go. It could be possum tracks on the ground or a little orchid flowering in the bush. The Warbys are so beautiful. - @buyfromwangaratta on Instagram

This exhibit runs until late October and features 3D models, renderings and detailed submissions by three shortlisted design teams. Nova Scotians also have the opportunity to view and provide feedback on the three final conceptual designs for the new art gallery and waterfront arts district planned for Halifax. This project will be transformative not only for the Halifax Waterfront, but for the arts and culture sector itself. Sanitary pads have become scarce in parts of India, especially in rural areas amid lockdown as schools that usually provide sanitary products remain shut and NGOs and factory units that prodce low-cost napkins have been unable to keep up production due to unavailability of raw material. Women from weaker socio-economic backgrounds in cities are unable to afford pads due to the disruption in income. A Two-Spirit Journey is an autobiography written by Ojibwa-Cree Elder Ma-Nee Chacaby. The author recounts her early memories of life and abuse in a remote community alongside her coming out, the effects of alcoholism, and the legacies of colonialism still facing Indigenous peoples today. Over the years, Elder Ma-Nee Chacaby has raised her children and fostered others, worked as an alcoholism counselor and, in 2013, she led the first gay pride parade in Thunder Bay. - - - #IndigenousReads #FirstNations #StaySafeStayHome #InstaBook #IndigenousBooks #IndigenousYouth #Bookstagram #2Spirit #TwoSpirit #TwoSpirited #LGBTQ2S #2SLGBTQ #PrideMonth #indigenousliterature - @gcindigenous on Instagram

#PortPeople: Inez (32) is a lecturer Nautical Sciences at the @antwerpmaritimeacademy, where she teaches safety courses to freshmen. Every maritime student must master a set of survival skills at sea before they are allowed to sail any kind of 🚢. We actually bumped into Inez during a firefighting excercise with her students 👩🚒. Aside from safety, she also teaches ECDIS (aka electronical map navigation) to sophomores: what should students pay attention to when sailing? And what are the dangers? Inez has years of practical experience herself. As a Master in Maritime and Transport law she started her impressive career on a chemical tanker 😮 A period she describes as very intense, as it meant a continuous series of two months of sailing vs. two months at home. She also worked offshore on seagoing vessels that install pipelines on the seabed. These type of ships, with 400 employees on board, can pretty much be considered a floating factory. After nearly 10 years of sailing adventures, life brought her back to where it all begin: the Antwerp Maritime Academy 🏫. As a lecturer, Inez is very passionate about providing our youth with the very best maritime education there is. Orange Shirt Day is an annual event that honours the survivors of residential schools and their families, and hopes to educate the public about the tragic history and legacy of residential schools in Canada. • It’s inspired by Phyllis Webstad (above). • “In July of 1973, my grandmother brought me to town to buy something to wear,” said Webstad, who was born on Dog Creek Reserve and is Northern Secwepemc from the Stswecemc Xgattem First Nation. • “I chose a shiny orange shirt. Just like any other six-year-old, I was happy to be going to school — I didnt know exactly what was to come.” • When I got to the [St. Joseph Mission residential school], it was pee-your-pants terror to be there, to realize that I wasnt going home. My shirt was taken away. No matter what I did, they wouldnt give it back. • I never got to wear my shirt again.” • It was a full school year that I was there. We could cry and cry — and no one would tend to us. There was no one hugging us. There was no one telling us that it would be OK. We were just there and fed. No one to tend to our emotions or to our fears or to anything. • Webstads story - which she shared in her book, Phylliss Orange Shirt - has inspired the #OrangeShirtDay movement. Every year on Sept. 30, people wear orange shirts to raise awareness about the impact of residential schools on Indigenous people across Turtle Island. • Im humbled and honoured that my story is a vehicle for change across Canada, Webstad told The Next Chapter. • Learn more about the story behind Orange Shirt Day by clicking the link in our bio. • Photos by Lenard Monkman/CBC and orangeshirtday.org • #Orangeshirtday #indigneous #cbcradio #thenextchapter #canada #residentialschools #education - @cbcradio on Instagram

Id like to spotlight CD8’s very own Kristen Harvey, an administrative clerk for the Los Angeles Sanitation Department. Kristen was hired through the City’s Targeted Local Hire Program (TLH). In the spirit of highlighting Black women, I am showing love to Kristen for her commitment to serving the City of Los Angeles. Kristen heard about the TLH program from her mother and decided to apply. In her previous job, she experienced discrimination and realized that there was no room for her to promote beyond her role. According to Kristen, “TLH has been a great start for my career, and its changed things for the better. Im really happy this program was created to give people a chance to excel in life”. Kristen’s story represents the importance of investing in Black and Brown communities and through opportunities like the City’s TLH program. Congressmember Karen Bass @repkarenbass understands this reality and introduced the Jobs and Justice Act 2020, which includes several provisions to protect and strengthen Black American families with major provisions, including raising the national minimum wage to $15 an hour. It is my hope that this bill will pass and allocate resources nationwide for local municipalities to invest in their residents and create economic opportunities for communities of color. #TLHThursday - @mhdcd8 on Instagram

Meet Chef Andy Husbands, owner, Smoke Shop BBQ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➖ Tell us about your staff. Staff is everything. I have been in the restaurant industry for a long time and something I’ve valued and learned along the way is it is all about the team. They’re doing as good as can be and we’re happy to be back together again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➖ How did your collaboration with Joanne Chang at Flour come to fruition? Joanne and I were texting about the state of the restaurant industry (and world), and we decided to jump on the phone to talk about how we could help. We decided to partner with Flour and Smoke Shop BBQ boxes for weekend customers. All the money made would go toward employees and next week’s meal expenses. This creative collaboration gave us real practice for the transition back to reopening. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➖ How can the community best help the restaurant industry? There’s not going to be a lightning bolt, we just need to keep our heads down and work together to survive this. There’s legislation in place right now to unite and support the restaurant community, any calls or emails to your elected officials to support us would be greatly appreciated. We want to see our brothers and sisters in the small business community survive. From hairdressers and nail salons to local restaurants, its going to take everything and everybody to get through this. Most of all, continue to support us in a way that feels right for you. #kendallcollective - @ksq_association on Instagram

Meet Jane Hill of The Spirited party shop. It would be hard to find a more fun shop with a more positive vibe anywhere in country Victoria. Owner Jane Hill opened The Spirited Party Shop 16 years ago to bring new and unusual giftware to Wangaratta. Before moving to North East Victoria, she completed a Diploma of Fashion at RMIT and was a professional dressmaker for 20 years so her intrinsic creativity and good taste is evident wherever she goes. Her new online shop at www.buyfromwangaratta.com sells stylish scarves, and glitzy purses and glasses cases, scented candles with underlying lemon tones, faux fur ear muffs, Jellycat toys and their best seller - sterling silver jewellery, more notably a delicate pair of silver earring threads featuring a star. Another sought-after product is the “clearing spray” that is bought to “cleanse” one’s self and surrounding environment of negative energy. It is made in Australia using white sage water, pure white sage essential oil (Salvia Apiana) imported from the US and Palo Santo essential Oil (Bursera Graveolens) from Peru. White Sage is traditionally used by Native Americans, and by the Incas along with with Palo Santo, a sacred tree called Holy Wood which grows in select parts of South America. Meed Edwin, a worker at our mill in Ecuador. I work at the Natural Habitat palm oil mill in Viche, Ecuador, downloading trucks in the fruit reception yard and qualifying the fruit. I live in Quinindé with my family and children and love playing soccer and volleyball.” My Silver Lining Story “This pandemic has affected us very much, and it’s been difficult these past several months. Thanks to God we’re getting through these difficult times, and we are -- in ways -- closer than ever to family and friends, and the company and our colleagues. We have all come together to help with anything that the other person needed. This is a difficult situation we are going through. We are fighting an invisible enemy. But the message we have here in Ecuador and all over the world is that we have to look forward and be united, taking care of each other.” ==================== During these tough times of COVID-19, we’ve been hearing inspiring stories from our team, our growers, and our partners. It seems that despite having to be physically separated, we’re finding even more creative ways to unite … to widen our boundaries, support one another, and create a brighter future. We hope you find our series of “Silver Lining” stories inspiring during September’s Palm Done Right month, and we’d love for you to share your own below - #UniteForPalmDoneRight. #SilverLiningStory #SilverLiningStories - @palmdoneright on Instagram
