Travel Tips & Inspiration For Future Travel by Hana @hanas.travel.journal Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto is one of Japan’s top sights for a good reason. This place is like from another world. Thick green bamboo stems seem to continue endlessly up to the sky and theres a strange quality of light peaking through the forest, which makes it very atmospheric. There are many means of transport how to get to the bamboo forest from Kyoto. The easiest one is probably taking the purple San-In line from Kyoto station or hopping on one of the city buses. The forest is open 24/7 and the entrance is free so I would advise you to come as early as possible to avoid the crowds. Tourists tend to visit the forest only and then head back to Kyoto but the town of Arashiyama is very charming of its own and you can spend here the whole day exploring its picturesque sites for a little ‘off-the-beaten-path’ experience. My favorite places in Arashiyama, besides the bamboo grove, are: • Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple – mysterious Buddhist temple featuring over thousand stone heads on its grounds, • Saga Toriimoto street – well-preserved street with traditional townhouses, • Giouji Temple – has a beautiful garden all covered in moss, • Arashiyama Park with observation deck that will give you amazing views over Kyoto, • Tenryuji Temple – this temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it features picturesque Zen garden and multiple teahouses, • Katsura River and Nakanoshima island – you can hire a boat and enjoy the tranquil surroundings, • Kimono Forest – fun little “forest” at the tram station featuring colorful pillars covered in traditional fabrics for making kimonos. Arashiyama is not too big but it has a lot to offer. last days of Jungbusch 👋🏻 . 4 Jahre haben wir hier gewohnt und es toll gefunden. Doch im Laufe der Zeit verändert man sich. Und das Viertel eben auch. Ich werde unseren Balkon und die Aussicht vermissen, bei dem wir nie einen Fernseher brauchten, weil sich unten so viel Leben abspielte. Ich könnte ein Buch voller Geschichten schreiben, was ich in den Jahren beobachtet habe 😉 . Was ich aber nicht vermissen werde sind Nächte, in denen ich um 4 Uhr von Feierlustigen vor unserem Fenster geweckt werde 🤪 . Werdet ihr jetzt etwa erwachsen? . Das werden wir ganz oft gefragt, wenn wir sagen, dass wir wegziehen. Werden wir? Ich weiß es nicht. Aber mit 32 darf man auch mal bisschen erwachsen werden. Da dürfen einen gewisse Dinge stören, die einem mit 22 nichtmal aufgefallen sind. Im Laufe der Zeit verändert man sich. Und das ist gut so. . Tschüss Jungbusch! Some of you I have known for years yet only now are you sharing the fact that you have struggled with anxiety for years. Some of you I have never met, yet still you’ve written and shared your experience openly. If my posts, these images, and the story behind them helped you to open up about the condition then I a can’t tell you how touched I am and proud of you for speaking openly. I only spoke about my experience to print vide context for this work. Please don’t think that by finding a way out of Anxiety that I have achieved something extraordinary. It is still with me lurking in the background but I have managed to recognise it, manage it and overcome it. YOU can too! Anxiety and depression CAN be overcome. Help is out there, share what you’re feeling openly and open up to accepting help. There’s no more weakness in anxiety and depression than there is in toothache or a migraine! Something in the world around us is causing us to break emotionally, millions of us. Just like something in the air is giving millions of us Asthma and breathing difficulties. Now that I know who I am and what I want and where I’m going, what does that look like? How will I preserve and keep doing everything out of love and ingenuousness in spite of the way the world is? Hi, Im Kellyn and I dont love to cut hair. CONFESSSSSSION!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is me re-learning how to hold a comb and my scissors after about 8 years of not taking a haircutting class. No joke. I took classes in all the things my first 5/6 years of hairdressing and loves to learn all the different things. But after that I hit haircolor and business classes HARD. I really have a love for the business side of things, the marketing, the branding, and the art of it all. I knew I wanted my own salon and that became my focus. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fast forward to doing hair for 15 years now, owning my own salon for over 6 years, and Ive been focusing on what I LOVE to do and what comes easy for me. And you know what Ive learned... that is ok. But the cool thing is, there is always so much to learn.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We cannot wear all the hats at every stage of our career. We cannot possibly be the expert in every single subject in this industry. So... there’s this guy. 🙈⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He’s honestly my closest companion. He loves other truly like no other. He is grace-filled. He is selfless. He is why I am who I am and why I am where I am today.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The hard part is that some people aren’t such a fan of him. Well, more so, they often aren’t a fan of the people who say they know him but, then cause pain along the way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But, the guy that I know and love doesn’t act the way some the people who follow him do. He’s all about seeking the best. He’s all about grace and redemption. Jesus is a really huge part of our lives around here. He has been for a while now and I attribute so much of who I am and where Grit and Grace is to Him.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yes, I have worked hard. Yes, I have pushed forward. Yes, I have done the work. But, yes, I’ve also been praying nearly every day for this whole business.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I stopped praying for numbers + clients. I started praying for the people that we’re meant to serve + love, and then we do our best to do just that. That’s a huge reason why I believe we are where we are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe Jesus rubs you the wrong way. Or, better yet, maybe Christians rub you the wrong way. (For the record — I’m really sorry about that. I am. That’s not the way it should be.) Maybe you’re like ehhh I tried the church thing and like, no thank you. And honestly, wherever you’re at is okay because I’m not here to shove my faith down your throat or make you believe what I do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m here to show up + love others well + do what I feel called to do. Theres a tendency to assume that successful, confident people never have any doubts - that they are decisive about every choice, never have regrets, and always know what to do. This confidence we see in those people often only highlights our own fears & lacks. The fact is, everyone, even the strongest leaders, second-guesses themselves. Self-doubt is a very human response to all the challenges life throws your way. Even still, it doesn’t have to stop you from overcoming obstacles and reaching your goals. I personally have a few ways to avoid these self-judgment days. Heres what works for me: 👉 Being devoted to my goals. I really know my goals, I live for my goals, even if waken up in the middle of the night I would be able to tell you my WHYs. Knowing why the heck I choose this rocky road in life makes me understand that Im in the process of growth. Its ok not to know everything & lack certain skills while youre growing, but as long as Im moving forward, I feel at peace with myself. 👉 Knowing where Ive come from. Whenever I feel like Im failing myself, I look back to where Ive started. This usually helps me understand how much Ive actually grown in the least years. 👉 Loving myself. This is a core, my friend. I rarely doubt myself when I have time to sleep well & eat well. When Im in peace with my partner. When I get to do the things I love doing. It was a tough day being 36 degrees outside and lighting with predominantly tungsten sources inside - especially when you add a smoke machine / covid masks into the mix. Twirling into the week like 💫⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Older homes often have storage issues, either from no closets or from really small closets, causing a lack of usable storage space. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In Es room, we had a closset with a depth of about 17 which isnt enough to even hang a standard hanger🤦🏼♀️ and yet the closet protruded into the room on the side wall taking up a ton of great floor space.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We demod out that closet and replaced it with two wardrobe units from IKEA flanking the window. This solution not only offers more than double the closet space, but it opens up the floor plan and frames the window (and the whole room) creating a beautiful balance in the space. 🙌🏼🙌🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Imagine the impact a small change like this could make in your day to day life.
