EDIT - i can’t change this image here, but the screenprinted image will have the “police” text removed. I got some incorrect information from the internet, and this is (to the best of my knowledge) the condo that was burned. Unfortunately there were no really “screenprintable” images from the 3rd police precinct fire, hence this one being used instead. Following the tragic death of George Floyd, the issues of systemic racism and oppression of African Americans in the United States have been brought to the forefront of the media, as they should have been a long time ago. It is a disgrace that the issue has not yet faded away, and seems to have only made minor steps towards the solution. Us, as members of the producer community, feel we can make strides of our own to help combat the ever so obvious oppression of African Americans in the United States. These people have in fact expanded our culture and brought upon us some of the most popular music genres to date, including blues and rap, or urban music. They have created the opportunity for all of us producers to do what we love to do. There is now doubt in any of our minds they will continue to shape the culture of not only Americans, but that of many different people around the world. Because of this, it is all of our duties to help combat the issue of police brutality in the United States. This however is not the only issue plaguing the African American community. An unfair justice system, mass incarceration, and limited education are all factors in keeping African Americans from equality in the United States. So, in solidarity with what this community has given us, and simply as good-hearted humans, we are pleased to ask you to donate to this Campaign Zero, an organization helping to combat police brutality in the United States of America. As long as proof of a donation larger than $5 is shown, a loop kit created by some of the most talented young producers in the industry will be given in return for your contributions. at first i felt weird sharing words when i know so many closer to riley than i was. but the outpouring of stories got me thinking so i thought i’d add. my father showed me power trip when i was a young kid. we always bonded over thrash and he thought i’d be into it. he was right. they turned into a essential band in my journey of discovering hardcore. over the years riley and i exchanged some words through DM’s and texts. hung out with him a couple times at shows. that was all it took to see how inspiring and beautiful of a person he was. he showed love to what KL was doing when we weren’t always getting it. he showed me love. it meant so much to me because i was such a fan. i wish we could have played more shows together. there’s nothing bad ever said about riley or power trip because there is nothing bad to say. everyone loved them. power trip did it right. riley did it right. growing exponentially while always staying true. no ego. just love and acceptance. always standing up for what was right when surrounded by bigotry. my heart goes out to those close to him. especially to all my texas friends. he’s part of the reason why i’m doing what i do today, wish i could tell him that. the world will not be the same without him. rest in POWER. - @caasihale on Instagram

Today, we reintroduce you to the men of Chavez -- Matt Sweeney, James Lo, Clay Tarver, and Scott Marshall -- whose debut full-length, Gone Glimmering, will be reissued on 10/23. First released on May 23, 1995 Gone Glimmering remains an unparalleled slab of rock-action 25 years on -- evoking the spooky power and mystery of ’70s hard-rock while charting a course toward a future guitar music where dissonance, hooks, and brain crushing beats might thrillingly exist at once. (stream / preorder Gone Glimmering (Expanded) : http://chavez.ffm.to/goneglimmering Back then, lesser scribes tagged the Manhattan-based quartet with thinky adjectives -- knotty, algebraic, angular, etc. Not all of those were exactly off base. Still, whatever braininess Chavez employed was tempered by their passion for the visceral moves of Cheap Trick, The Pretty Things, and Aerosmith’s Rocks. They dug “difficult” sounds but pursued transcendent hooks. “For a year Clay and I played together in a Chinatown loft as a two-guitar thing before we got together with James,” says Sweeney, recalling the band’s formative rehearsals. By the time Lo came on board, though, Chavez had become more clearly identifiable as a rock ’n roll outfit. “Before practice, we would meet up at Max Fish bar on Ludlow street then go to the rehearsal space,” says Sweeney. “And then we’d go back to Max Fish. This was the Gone Glimmering writing process.” Back in 1995, Pavement and the Blues Explosion were Matador’s top-tier local draws. Chavez never played a show with either of them, though. Instead, the band found fellowship with psych-adjacent burners like Guided by Voices, Come, and Bardo Pond. They were -- and remain! -- outsiders. Freshly remastered by Greg Calbi, Gone Glimmering returns to us as a gatefold 2xLP and will now include four extra tracks drawn from the Pentagram Ring EP never before available on vinyl. Costa Gavras zu Gast in Tübingen Im Januar 2020 wird der französische Regisseur Costa Gavras im Rahmen einer Filmreihe des Landratsamts Tübingen zu Gast sein. Vor 75 Jahren ging der Zweite Weltkrieg zu Ende. In Paris wurde am 25. Juli 1945 der Tübinger Kurt Gerstein erhängt in seiner Zelle aufgefunden. Dessen zwiespältige Biographie wird unter der Überschrift „Widerstand in SS-Uniform“ verhandelt. Drei der Film-Regisseure, die sich dieses Stoffes angenommen haben, werden im Januar 2020 nach Tübingen kommen, darunter Costa Gavras. Das Landratsamt Tübingen präsentiert die Filme von Costa Gavras “Amen - Der Stellvertreter” (2002), Claus Bredenbrock “Kurt Gestein - Der Christ, das Gas und der Tod” (2007) und Carl Svensson “Aus Schweden kein Wort - Ein Diplomat und der Holocaust” (2017) in einer kleinen Reihe am 9.Januar, 17. Μέσα από μια σειρά άρθρων, ρεπορτάζ και συνεντεύξεων, αποτυπώνεται η σημασία που είχαν τα τατουάζ την εποχή κατά την οποία ερχόταν στον κόσμο η γενιά που σήμερα μπορεί να τα επιδεικνύει χωρίς το κόστος κάποιου κοινωνικού στίγματος. Ο συντάκτης του σχετικού αφιερώματος, επί τρεις ημέρες αγωνιά να πείσει τους ανυποψίαστους αναγνώστες ότι «μια νέα μορφή εγκληματικότητας ή τουλάχιστον εξοικειώσεως των ανήλικων παιδιών με τους στιγματισμένους από τα τατουάζ σκληρούς κακοποιούς εισβάλει τώρα επικίνδυνα στη χώρα μας δια της εμπορικής οδού». Ich gehe mit Tränen in den Augen, vielen schönen Erinnerungen und einer Lederjacke unterm Arm. Mit großem Stolz erfüllt es mich, Teil dieser tollen Band gewesen zu sein und dass ich von Beginn an hier vieles mit aufbauen durfte. Ich möchte ein tiefes und ernstgemeintes DANKE an Marco, Manu, Christian und Ray aussprechen. Ihr habt mit mir die letzten sieben Jahre die prägendsten und schönsten Live-Momente geteilt, habt mir die Möglichkeit gegeben, dass wir zusammen eine große Menge an musikalischer Energie sehr vielen Menschen geben konnten, aber vor allem wart ihr meine Gang - meine Band - mein Mittelpunkt. Ich danke Euch für all die schönen aber auch für die emotionalen und lehrreichen Momente unserer gemeinsamen Reise! 🤘🙏❤️ Sehr viel Herzlichkeit und Dankbarkeit möchte ich allen Menschen aussprechen, die diese Band in der Halle, zu Hause oder im Herzen begleitet haben und weiterhin begleiten werden! Ihr habt mir immer ein gutes Gefühl gegeben, ich möchte Euch das am liebsten doppelt zurückgeben. So viel Freude und Tanzbarkeit geht nicht spurlos an einem vorüber. Ihr habt nun eine Person mehr auf der Wanda-Tanzfläche! See you in the moshpit!! ;) 🤘 Ich durfte in dieser prägenden und intensiven Zeit viele Menschen kennenlernen, die mit mir einen Weg zusammen gegangen sind. Auf meinem Facebook-Profil findet ihr den Dankestext an all diese Menschen, das geht sich hier nicht aus. Wie geht es nun für mich weiter? Ich habe nach wie vor Freude an der Musik und am Schlagzeug spielen - das wird sich niemals ändern. Es ist kein Abschied von der Rock n Roll - Bühne, aber jetzt werde ich mal für einen Moment leiser treten und diese ereignisreiche Zeit mit so vielen tollen Menschen, mit einem wehmütigen Lächeln auf mich wirken lassen.
