Kicking off our Cocktail of the Month series is the Perfect Manhattan, a perfectly balanced drink with class dating back to the 1800s. We mixed a few up here at The Bourbon Chase HQ *ahem* for the sake of science, and we can strongly recommend them. Perfect Manhattan 3 parts bourbon (preferably one with a high rye mash bill - like Four Roses) 1/2 part dry vermouth 1/2 part sweet vermouth Add ingredients and ice to a cocktail shaker. Stir well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a Luxardo cherry. (We like ours with a twist of lemon peel as well.) - @thebourbonchase on Instagram

Today were remembering the incredible life and legacy of @Irving_Berlin. Berlin passed away today in 1989 at his home in Manhattan, just a few miles from the Lower East Side tenement he lived in when he wrote the first of his 1,500 songs. He was 101 years old. Berlin was celebrated a month later by Edward Sorel with this illustration. It’s not even lunchtime here, but who cares! In honor of #Negroniweek I give you my favorite cocktail of all time, The blood orange Negroni. It is our house cocktail paired with my favorite end of the week or anytime feel-good record by @amerigo.gazaway.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During blood orange season, I usually dehydrate a bunch of citrus rounds, so we always have some bright, intense citrus in the house. My recipe is equal parts Campari, Aviation Gin and Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth- stirred and poured into a chilled glass with a large ice cube and blood orange garnish.
