After all, I don’t believe in it to be honest with you. I don’t know where that came from, that thing. That shouldn’t stop you getting sober, that little thing. One year since I moved back to Melbourne and tomorrow is one year since I started at Triple M 😱 I still have Triple M bags that I got from the Royal Melbourne Show as a kid. Did you know Triple M had a chat forum back in the day? I used to go in it and chat to the presenters on air to get tips on how to get into radio. I’ve worked at some incredible stations but there’s nothing like working on the station your family listens to in your home town. Even my bro in Canada listens, one of the reasons I wore the Whistler jumper during my first show. Fred Penelle, artiste et graveur, est décédé le 25 mars 2020 à 46 ans. Né en 1973, il avait étudié à La Cambre, où il avait été professeur de gravure de 2012 à 2019. Il était également un professeur exceptionnellement apprécié à l’École des Arts d’Ixelles. Plasticien mû par la passion et un esprit dévoré par la curiosité, il avait développé une pratique murale de la gravure sur bois. Il a participé à de nombreuses expositions en Belgique et à l’étranger, notamment avec le projet Mécaniques Discursives en duo avec l’artiste vidéo Yannick Jacquet. L’ensemble de l’atelier de Gravure et image imprimée et toute la communauté de La Cambre adressent leurs condoléances les plus sincères à Charlotte Marchand, son épouse, à ses enfants et à tous ses proches. « La période que nous vivons est déjà particulièrement chargée - voilà que cette aberration vient maintenant mettre nos plaies à nu. Temps suspendu, atmosphère pré- ou post-apocalyptique, cris et chuchotements, frôlements, souffles et murmures, bêtes hideuses et mutants pleins despoir : on se croirait dans une gravure de Fred. Pourtant, on aurait tort de se laisser subjuguer par le découragement ou lapathie. The award celebrates a sustainability champion who has brought about change and inspired others. The awards are unique in that they are free to enter and open to individuals, small businesses and not-for-profits. Running for 18 years, these are New Zealand’s pre-eminent and longest-standing sustainability awards. David Trubridge is honoured to be selected as a finalist and says “I never intended to become a business-owner, it has come with the success of my designs but, it’s been a very rewarding journey. Building a business and finding good people to work with has been a big learning curve. Early on when the business started to grow I made a conscious decision to operate my business as I did my own life: to work in unison with my environment, respecting nature (and recharging via it), making decisions guided more by morality than profit. He remarks that the company is still finding ways to improve everyday. “I’ll spot something in the rubbish bin that shouldn’t be there, or my team will find a better packaging product. Recently we re-designed some lights that had been discontinued due to high plastic content. Being sustainable should be a fun challenge to yourself, not a drag or a compliance. We had a great time trying to rebuild these Cloud lights. It seemed impossible at first but we did it! Back in the booth! Thank goodness I never moved to Albany and was able to maintain my voice over career. In fact - just months before I woke up I realized that I had spent so many years working on other peoples goals and ridiculous, unattainable, immeasurable projects with moving targets in ESP and was like WTF? I redid my demo and materials and started focusing on my dreams again which lead to me having something to go back to when everything fell apart. Ive noticed that the remaining true believers were the ones that moved to the mothership, devoted their whole lives and had nothing else to fall back on or do outside of the community.
