Doctors have told us “never been done before” and “uncharted territory”... that is for them but not for Him. He is before all things and in all things. We are praising him for every miracle He is providing each day. Pray for all 3 of our mama hearts today... his power is made perfect in our weakness as we cling to Him alone to give us strength. Lilou started virtual school today! Life is crazy and tiny humans grow up too fast. I’ve always heard that but seriously wasn’t it like just the other day she was still a squeaky bobble head spitting up breast milk all over my shirt? I’m not crying you’re...oh wait no yea I’m still crying. Shout out to all the teachers making this seemingly impossible task actually happen. Couldn’t imagine being in your shoes. My brain would just turn into a big goo puddle with all that organizing and emailing and alllllll the stuffffff. Shout out to all the parents and caregivers and tutors and whoever else that’s putting in effort to keep us distant and safe but still learning. When I was about 14, I was watching TV with my mother in her bedroom after dinner one night when she said to me, out of the blue, You know, Arielle, its okay if youre gay. I didnt come out to her for years, but I knew I could and it would be okay. A few years later, while watching Transamerica together she said Arielle, if you feel trapped in your body, if you feel like youre the wrong gender, you can tell me and well figure it out together. When national marriage equality became law, she was my first call to cry with, and laugh with. I told her I was going to celebrate with my people at Stonewall and her only request was that I text her when I got home. Im reasonable enough to recognize that not everybody is lucky enough to have a mother (and father) who are so unconditionally accepting. I dont ask for much but Im asking with all my heart for this - that my mother be protected and supported with love as I continue the biggest transition of my life, without her. Shes been living with us almost exclusively since Cairo was born two and a half years ago and its been rough... rougher than rough, its taken my beloved Davana and I past our limit. She has singlehandedly plunged us into the darkest pits of despair and it has felt hopeless at times. If it wasnt for our fam and soulfam I dont know how we would have been able to stay positive. I own my failures in not seeking extra support in the beginning, I was naive to believe it would all work itself out so long as I kept going but Ive been humbled. Having denied it, avoided it, displaced it it feels good to finally come to a place of clarity and acceptance of my responsibility for her care. Part of that is having healthy boundaries with her and holding the truth that I can no longer sacrifice mine and my familys well being by having her live in the same home as us. I know other families have been able to successfully care for their parents with dementia and have found it very fulfilling, but its just not my case. My mother is carrying a lifetime of unprocessed trauma and as her memory continues to fade, so to does her capacity to hold it in. As such I can no longer allow her to project her pain and her fears upon Davana, who has been so good to her. I broke down in tears more than a few times in her inability to receive all the love Davana was giving her. It was so sad to see that she simply couldnt receive it. Yet, we harbor no ill will towards her and rather than resentment for the extra pain shes put our family through, I feel gratitude for the lessons and to know I must take a new approach to caring for her moving forward. Shes in Las Vegas right now near my sister, and is in good spirits. We had a great conversation earlier and she expressed her love for us and I felt it. She misses Cairo but said she doesnt want to be a barrier to us fulfilling our dreams. I let her know she wasnt and that once we find our home and settle in Ill find a place for her not too far. . Yesterday, I stood amongst a crowd of freedom keepers in front of the State House in Boston. We stood together to protest the flu shot mandate that @massgovernor put in place on August 19th. This mandate states that every child 6 months and up is to receive the flu shot in order to attend school (even REMOTE LEARNING - tell me how that makes sense again...) Mandating a shot that has an efficacy rate of below 50% for the last 5 years is absolutely insane (Peep the sign 👀👆🏼)What’s even more insane is people thinking it’s OKAY that the government is mandating this. Было это несколько лет назад, и случился тот самый вариант, когда в последний момент поменялся и врач, и акушерка. Все, с кем женщина договаривалась и заключала контракт, на роды не попали, и мы встретились😀 На родах в роддоме с нами была ее мама, и их трогательные отношения тогда мне очень понравились . Рожала она прекрасно, расслабляясь в ванной на схватках, собранно тужилась. И вот следующая беременность. «Лиля, мы ждём ещё малыша, и мне нужна твоя поддержка в родах и освежить знания!» «Вот и прекрасно, у меня замечательный курс онлайн, подключайся!» Занятия начались, шли своим чередом, а мы строили планы, где и как рожать. Но в 33-34 недели беременности потекли воды. Много...Светлые... Что делать? Нужно ехать в роддом. Аккуратный осмотр в роддоме в зеркалах, шейка матки не готова, схваток нет. Взяли анализы, назначили антибиотики и заняли выжидательную тактику. 🧐 На следующий день начала отходить слизистая пробка, но дальше дело не пошло... Ждём... 2 раза в день анализы, антибиотики, КТГ и лекции курса подготовки к родам прямо в палате роддома😉 Так под наблюдением и контролем прекрасного доктора Юлии Дмитриевны Вученович @yuliavuch прошли 10 дней!!! Курс антибиотиков подошёл к концу, так же, как и время, которые отпустили врачи на ожидание👩‍🔬 Контракт с роддомом заключили, курс дослушали, что дальше?🤔 Юлия Дмитриевна сказала: «Нужно рожать !» С утра перевели в родблок. Доктор осмотрела шейку матки, ситуация хорошая - шейка созрела, открытие - 1,5-2 см. Была предложена израильская тактика введения окситоцина, но женщина засомневалась. «Мне бы хотелось ещё подождать!» Здесь уже заволновалась доктор: «Лиля, приезжай! Попробуем вместе убедить маму!» «Еду! Только завершу акушерскую беседу». Спустя несколько минут пришла СМС уже от женщины: «Лиля, у меня схватки, сильные, частые, одна за другой!» Что за чудо произошло в эти несколько минут? 😲 Как случилось, что организм передумал и начал рожать? Claro que también fue difícil, agotador por momentos, pero siempre tuve esa sensación de que si me tocó es porque podía y me iban a mostrar el camino que necesitaba transitar y siento que siempre es así con lo que nos toca... Esta comunidad me hizo compartir tantas cosas con muchas mamás múltiples... Poder armar tribu de apoyo, comunidad para ayudarnos y sentir que no estamos solas es muy necesario... PERMISSION TO CELEBRATE As I reflect on the past 12 months I am blown away. Its been a gigantic 🌊 I appear to have surfed. At the beginning I created + hosted the inaugural Movement and The Mind conference in London.(with the support of @britsoclm). After that, wired on adrenaline and sleep deprived I was looking forward to laying my head on a pillow. Then I got the call ...... To accompany my baby sister as her birth partner. The night was sleepless and the little person that arrived on the morning of 8.10.2019 was and is AWESOME! I was chosen to cut the chord. This closed a circle of healing for me. And Im full of gratitude for this ❤️. You see - (and its just been Birth Trauma Week ) ... I have a story of my own. Then I committed to a radical digital detox self experiment. I came off a smart phone entirely. Yes I was the proud owner of a brick phone. I managed over 8 months then I dropped it in the bath 😂 I wrote a book too. (More to follow). And alongside all of this my dear Dad remains unwell with severe depression. And always : I continue to be so energised by CONNECTION - to so many extraordinary people, whilst simultaneously being inspired by people who left a legacy with their courage. (Namely Sir Ken Robinson: one of my all time inner compass voices). I have to be honest I have been concerned by the celebrity culture of this space & I wonder where I fit in this as I navigate balancing the message I hold in my heart & the wonderful platform this offers for connection across the world. Thanks to all the people who walk this together. I resurface here. And nearly a year on: tonight I met with the other 21 UK Acumen Fellows. Online. I could feel their commitment to creating a future that is more equitable: tackling some of the most pressing + complex challenges of our time - in the UK. Being a parent means also to be a human playground😅 at least my boys aka double trouble love climbing, jumping and play on me😅But now after months together it is mixed emotions to send them off to school starting again and have two hands free and undisturbed mind to work and manage all the things to be done on the to do list. It all seems a whole new world where faces are not seen due to COVID protection, hands need to be sanitized often and the children can not play close to each other or walk around freely in their schools. I pray for all the people on front line to fix this world wide problem. September is a very special month that we didn’t give gratitude to until this year; September is NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Awareness Month.     Although Courtney has worked with NICU staff throughout her career and Sabrina has talked to staff and toured NICUs annually throughout her career, one doesn’t truly gain an appreciation until you are in the NICU with your babies.     Our triplets were born at 34 weeks and all spent time in the NICU, with the shortest stay being a week and the longest 2 weeks. We are extremely blessed to have such a short stay in the NICU and for having the ability to bring ALL of our babies home, we know that is not always the case.     There’s no explanation of the feeling you have seeing your babies, such pure souls, being connected to multiple IV’s, breathing tubes, feeding tubes, etc.; as a parent you feel hopeless. There is so much that you want to do to your newborns - hug, kiss, snuggle - but that’s not always the best choice for a baby in the NICU, as they are so vulnerable. So we had to place all of our hope and trust into individuals that we met as we walked into the NICU. It’s such a terrifying feeling but then one of the nurses came to us and gave us so much hope and put us at ease.    It takes a very special person to be a health care provider in the NICU; to all the NICU providers out there - we appreciate you, we thank you, we see how hard you work and we are forever grateful of you all.     We are infinitely indebted to our amazing NICU team @kpthrive @kp_riverside for the incredible attention and care you provided to not only our little ones, but these new Mamas as well. There’s not enough gratitude, kindness or words in this world for us to show our uttermost appreciation for you all.     ➡️ to see some of our first times holding our babies. 7 years ago today on 10.11.12, I became the mother of Avis and then one minute later, Avalon. I was the same age (40) that my own mother was when she gave birth to me. Anyone with multiples can tell you that it can be relentless. But for me, what made it hard wasn’t the mountain of diapers or lack of sleep. (I had the world’s greatest help on that front.) It was the unrelenting unconditional love these girls showed (and still show) me. I didn’t know what to do with that. I was used to conditional love. To this day my mother brings print outs of me with celebrities from the old days like, “Have you seen my daughter? She used to be famous!”It’s no wonder I was so hell bent on being successful at a young age. I needed that love. Avis & Avalon (and, of course, their big sister) broke open my heart. Everyday (with varying success), I still try to earn their love. But I am committed to the idea that one day...one day...I will finally actualize the true lesson they have for me: I’m worthy of them either way. As you read these words in your head I send them out as a prayer. Thank you, God, for the blessing of Avis & Avalon. I know they will inspire the world however they choose as they grow up. Until then, they will continue to inspire me on a moment to moment basis to feel worthy of their unconditional love. Surely it’s the most important goal I’ve ever had. I know I will get there. Save Us! • • We are two girls and a dog who have created and edited an original film series on TikTok. The idea for our series came about on the 22nd of January, 2020, when a real-life event sent our imaginations into auto-pilot. We created the idea for our series, and hastily began filming. The first few videos we consider as “amateurs”, as we were inexperienced and didn’t quite know how to realistically create a series that people would enjoy. If you would like to hear the story so far, scroll down and follow us to keep updated. • • • • • Out of our front window, we notice a strange man looking into our house. We find this intriguing, and decide to hide. This turns out for the better, as the man ends up coming into the house and looking through the gardens. We flee to the public pool, and finally feel safe. However, as we are leaving, we see the man pulling into the pool’s carpark, and decide to take the next logical solution, and collect supplies at the supermarket. Day 260: Ode to you Strangers. This page is full of them. But we’re all connected. Intertwined by love. Something I never thought possible from people I didn’t know. Especially yesterday. Cabin fever setting in, a family outing it was. But fk me, it was hard. Given how isolated we’ve been, we definitely haven’t mastered this. Always leaving something behind that’s of importance. Milk even! Parents of the year! Fights definitely were had. We sat down for a drink, quick bite to eat & off for a walk. Easy right. But of course Luella wouldn’t sleep. One of us pacing trying to bop her to sleep, while the other ate one handed trying to control our dog sniffing for scraps. Then sharing rocking the pram, attempting a conversation we both know we’re not really listening to. Just flailing about trying to master parenthood. But for once I smiled inside. Is this how it feels? Is this what motherhood should feel like?Getting it all wrong but enjoying the process anyway? It felt SO good. And then this lovely woman sitting next to us, walked over, put her hand on Dave’s & offered to rock, while we enjoyed our lunch. There was something ethereal about her. Angelic almost. Naturally we got talking & shared Lulu’s story, finding common ground with her also sick Granddaughter. Lunch hoovered down, we said our gracious goodbyes & parted ways. But she came back. “I want to do something for you. I want to pray for Luella”. She said. And then she softly grabbed my hand & prayed out loud for my Little Love. The most beautiful prayer, her voice ever so slightly shaking. She pleaded for a healthy child for us. That Lulu be vindicated of this illness & a cure found. That she be healed. I grabbed her hand & she held mine tighter as I cried into her. And she just stayed there letting me shatter, tears pouring out of me, holding me while I shamelessly grieved for my daughter, in the arms of a compete stranger. Sometimes it’s a serendipitous encounter of kindness that can restore you. To that beautiful stranger, if you ever see this, I know you were sent to me for a reason yesterday, & I’m so glad you were there. Bronx Breastfeeding Annual Conference 2019 Spent the day with colleagues and the awesome community that the Bronx Breastfeeding Coalition brings together. Also spent the day with these super real poster cut outs of breastfeeding pairs. The challenges and joys are unique to each family. It’s a pleasure/responsibility to continue to learn how to support feeding babies in the best possible way- whether it’s at the breast/chest, bottle, or any other method, or if it’s breastmilk or formula. Sara talked to us about her experience volunteering at the Durban Vocational Impact project, a drop-in centre and home for young victims of sexual abuse. “The staff are so lovely, passionate and made me feel so welcome and included” When asked to describe the centre she said, “the work they do is amazing – they support and give voice to the children and people of the local communities who are often extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged. The staff are passionate and selfless, going above and beyond the expectations of their work roles. It is such a brilliant and much-needed organisation. If I could bring my three children out with me to work for them I would.” Sara and the other volunteers followed the routines of the centre, rising early to help the children with their preschool routines and then spending most of the day out performing outreach in the local community. “We’d explore the local area and local organisations and schools with whom the project works in partnership with.” Sara also went on a few cases, working with children and their families and also gave a couple of talks about drugs to school children. International volunteers giving talks about important social topics to local schools have proven to be an effective way of ensuring that the children pay attention to the topics and the volunteers have found themselves very popular with the children and teachers alike. Alongside visits to schools Sara also “went to a crisis centre in a local hospital and the home of a child client. @melissa.c.reeves 💕 As many of you know, we lost our 5th baby on July 17th. Two weeks later, I ended up in the ER where I had passed the placenta. They took it to pathology where they were able to do extensive genetic testing. We finally got the call from my doctor with answers as to why I miscarried. It was something completely unexpected and quite shocking to us. Our baby was the product of something called a “partial molar pregnancy” — where two sperm fertilize one egg, also resulting in something called Triploidy. We never knew such a thing was even possible. 🔸 It’s a .1% chance. A very rare complication that almost always ends in miscarriage. 🔸 There are two types of a molar pregnancy 🔸 COMPLETE MOLE— occurs when one sperm fertilizes an empty egg which does not have any genetic material from the mother. Instead of forming a healthy embryo, the placenta develops into a mass of cysts and a non cancerous (benign) tumor develops in the uterus. PARTIAL MOLE (which is what I had) — results when two sperm fertilize a normal egg, resulting in too much genetic material. 🔸 There is a chance that the remaining molar tissue from my pregnancy may develop into an invasive type of cancer. I will be getting weekly cancer screenings and remain closely monitored by my doctor. Kyle and I will also be meeting with a genetic counselor at some point to determine our odds of another loss occurring in our future when and if we do decide to try for another baby. My HCG levels must be at a 0, clear from any cancerous cells, and get that green light from my doctor before we try to conceive again. Noah was also diagnosed with “Triploidy” meaning that he had 3 sets of chromosomes instead of two (two sets from dad’s two sperm, and one set from me.) Infants who survive triploidy, commonly pass away within a couple days after birth. The disorder ultimately carries a 100% mortality rate. Sweet Noah never had a chance for life here on earth. As much as I wish I could have carried him to term and heard his first little cries, I think God knew my heart couldn’t handle it. - @miscarriage.stories on Instagram

Descobrem no peito uma maneira de ter o aconchego pleno.⁣⁣ Basta ver uma cadela: quando o filhote chora a mãe corre e aconchega. Bebês não choram à toa e se choram estão pedindo: – Por favor, me ajude!⁣⁣ Ajude a dormir, a enfrentar a solidão, a lidar com a temperatura que oscila.⁣⁣ Quando um bebê pede colo ele está reconhecendo que você é uma segurança.⁣⁣ Quando você nega esse colo ele pode se acostumar com a negligência e resignar-se. Mas ele não está feliz.⁣⁣ Eu adoro o conceito: permita que as crianças sejam dependentes no momento em que podem ser, para que sejam independentes para toda a vida. ⁣⁣ O que mais vejo neste mundo são pessoas dependentes e resignadas.⁣⁣ Dependentes de comida, de medicamentos, de sexo, de necessidade de aceitação.⁣⁣ São, algumas vezes, sobreviventes de pequenos ou grandes abandonos.⁣⁣ Algumas vezes vendo esses programas que difundem a ideia da Torturadora de bebês eu sinto algo inexplicável: eu choro com a mãe que chora, com o filho que dorme soluçando.⁣⁣ Não há nada mais fácil e prazeroso para mãe e bebê do que deitar junto com o bebe e dormir agarradinho.⁣⁣ É tão rápido que eles crescem. O que são 3 anos diante de uma vida toda?⁣⁣ Queremos tanto a independência precoce, exaltamos isso como troféu e depois questionamos onde se perdeu esse fio.⁣⁣ Eu vejo idosos abandonados com cuidadores ou em asilos e vejo ali o reflexo de uma sociedade que fecha os olhos para os dependentes trocando o amor por tecnologia, chupeta, mamadeira, berço que balança e no fim, uma cama fria e olhos de uma profissional contratada.⁣⁣ Assim começa a vida, assim ela termina.
