Balmain Spring 2021 ✨Olivier Rousteing pays homage to Monsieur Pierre Balmain by bringing back the monogram motif from the 1970s that stemmed from the founder’s fascination with the labyrinths of France’s Renaissance gardens. And I’m a huge of fan of this return ! I like this monogram pattern, it’s classic and elegant especially when it’s styled as an accent piece like a clutch or a jacket ! Rousteing put on an party of a fashion show for sure, featuring lots of neon and pagoda shoulders, mixing sartorial tailoring with a bit of avant-garde in the shoulders. The sharp shoulders adorned almost every look which is where it falls short for me as I don’t find them flattering and a bit extreme when pairing the statement sharpness of the shoulders with neon and jersey material. The 70s theme was in full throttle, accommodating the fabulous return of the PB monogram, that meant bellbottomed jeans and bell bottomed pants . Personally, I’d like them to stay archived and not brought back to the scene of the present but I think a lot of people are able to pull this style off ! Now, what I loved the most is the molded, creased bustiers and tops ! That Olivier extended from his Fall 2020 Collection ! This time in glitter and fabric texture and butter-y leather ! Absolutely obsessed with them back then and now, beautiful work ❤️. I’ve also loved the menswear in this collection. 📸 @VogueRunway - @norabnora on Instagram
