Normally Im ecstatic when I see NZ products in stores here in Tokyo, but this one was a big No for me 🙅🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I dont care how easy to carry or cute people think this is; packaging three tiny apples in a plastic tube just does not seem worth the environmental costs. Companies, retail stores and consumers need to seriously start looking at how their choices are contributing to the ever growing ecological catastrophe. Recycling plastics isnt the solution either because if you actually looked into the process youd see that theres very little thats clean and green about it! Im not implying that we should boycott any and all plastic packaging but at the very least we could stop allowing all this wanton plastic pandering, couldnt we? When are we going pull our heads out of our arses? (Curiously, the same brand in Germany @rockitapplegermany sells the apples in cardboard boxes. We are both Learning Everyday 🙌🏻🙌🏻 After almost 5 months of Apas retirement shenanigans, Apa is now enjoying at home peacefully surrounded by his mini garden, peaches and a beautiful wife . He is also aspiring to be ardent farmer till he can plough the field. On serious note , prior and after retirement from work is real. I have noticed my fathers mood swings , health deteriorating , Blood pressure shooting up and only high, I often found him lost in his thoughts ...To keep himself engaged , Apa decided to go for retreat for more than a month , gradually he started to engage more with his community (Tsogpas) , Mother assigned him as chef (Apa cooks the best) to cater food to Laborers working at the field. After almost 6 months of retirement Apa is getting back to track . He is learning everyday to live fully beyond the workplace. Throughout the transition we have been there for him. Cheers to all the children who are constantly there for your parents. I am not the right person to be saying this but hey this is to remind you that our parents need us more as they grey. In fact it’s always the best time for us to simply spend time with them and hear them out. There is only world of love and affection ❤️. . Of course apa gets into my nerve every time we talk about that “man” to be in my life, but lately I have also convinced apa that there is no man like Apa and that I am good on my own. RAMBUTAN 😳 Have you tried it?! Yesterday while at @traderjoes, my youngest daughter and I spotted this curious fruit in the refrigerated fruit section. She first thought they were live animals 😂 and then thought they were spiders! 🕷 Despite her initial reactions, we thought they were neat, so we bought them and came home to brag to Dad and older sister about the cool, new fruit we found. Two takeaways if you’re looking to get your kids to try new foods: 1) Try something new yourself! and 2) Take them shopping and have THEM choose a fun new food to try (and then brag about it to anyone that will listen!) On our third day in Dubrovnik, we decided to take a break from the usual touristy things and visited the local Farmers market (called pazar) at Gruž. We just gazed at the ripe blush strawberries, heaps of necatrines, pale apricots, ripened figs, kiwi and fig marmalade, candied tangerines and zucchini flowers. The scent from the local flowers were mesmerizing. When we were setting up our new store in Tory St we wanted to install units with the lowest carbon footprint available on the market. They may look like any other fridges but in fact all our Tory St units are using the latest cutting edge technology in refrigeration. This technology uses R-744 refrigerant which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 1. Commonly used units, such as those we replaced have a GWP of 3922 (swipe right to see a graph of this). We understand we are the first retail store to use this technology in New Zealand! Doing the right thing for our planet never seems to come cheap but were proud that our Governance team never doubted that this was absolutely the right way to go and was willing to fund it.
