The antique key served as an invitation to John Galliano’s fall 1994 show at São Schlumberger’s residence. Schlumberger lent her empty 17th-century Paris hotel particulier as the location for the now iconic show, which was designed with the help of André Leon Talley, Amanda Harlech, and Steven Robinson. . . Steven’s collection extends beyond clothing to fashion artefacts such as these invitations. I love them because they represent that a fashion show can transport people into a different world. The narrative of the collection can start with a key or some music, continue with the clothing and then live on, as a memory for years to come. Techy time 😎 Been working on a few bits of gear over the last few days prepping for tour with @michaelkiwanuka. Looking forward to having the Leslie out on the road this run - started working on the amp sorting out some quirks it’s acquired over the years and will probably rebuild it soon. With the Wurli I’ve been trying to bring internal noise levels down - been looking at ways to reduce the hum and buzz common with these instruments and it’s sitting pretty quiet now! Last pic is an interface/pcb I designed to get my clonewheel organ talking to the Leslie: it supplies power and allows it to be controlled from the keyboard itself...usually these things make you do the leslie speed switching via a foot pedal but this way means it’s possible to use it like a normal hammond. 👷‍♂️ V E R M E S S U N G 👷‍♂️ • Was macht man als Geodäte oder mehr bekannt als Vermesser eigentlich? 🤔 • Ich bin auch mehr durch Zufall auf das gekommen und wenn mich wer davor gefragt hätte, was ich mir darunter vorstelle, hätte ich auch nicht wirklich etwas sagen können. 🤷‍♂️ • Daher mal ein kleiner Eindruck von meiner letzten Woche. Ich bin seit neustem öfter Untertage in einer, neben dem Berliner Flughafen, der bekanntesten Baustellen Deutschlands unterwegs: Stuttgart21 🔨🚧 • Eins kann ich sagen: So eine große Baustelle ist überwältigend! Dann auch noch Tunnelbau! Eine ganz andere Welt und nur die wenigsten Menschen bekommen mal einen Einblick in diese zweite Welt, unter der Erde.😅 • Mit Fachbegriffen nun um mich werfen würde nicht für viel Verständnis sorgen. Daher grob zusammengefasst wofür ein Vermesser dort gebraucht wird. 👷‍♂️ • Ein großer Part ist zur Überwachung. Es werden täglich Punkte wiederholt gemessen um Setzungen oder generell Bewegungen festzuhalten. Etwas vorzugeben in der Baustelle, wo sich was befindet. Ich sag nur Blockfugen 🙄 Aber es gibt noch viel mehr zu tun, darüber mehr bei meinem nächsten Einsatz. 🚧😃 Denn nicht nur auf dem Bau bin ich unterwegs, sondern vermesse auch mal mit der Drohne oder erzeuge mit Laserscanning 3D Objekte von einem Krankenhaus zB. 🤓 • Auf dem 3. Bild seht ihr noch mein Fortbewegungsmittel: Der Tunnel ist lang und man hat schwere Ausrüstung dabei. 📷 All Saints Church, Spetchley, Worcestershire This simple 700-year-old church sits next to Spetchley Park and gardens. The church is built of grey lias (a limestone), with quoins, windows and other features in a local brown sandstone. It consists of a west tower, nave, chancel and south chapel. The area surrounding Spetchley was settled by Christians from at least the 9th century and at the end of the 10th century, the Bishop of Worcester gave the lands of Spetchley to the monastery and cathedral in Worcester. Interestingly, the name of Spetchley itself originates from a glade in a forest where local gatherings or moots took place. JRR #Tolkien fans will be aware that he uses the word ‘Entmoot’ to name the meeting of the Ents of Fangorn Forest. Inside, there are spectacular historic monuments to the Berkeley family who own the Park, which feature life-size figures in glorious seventeenth-century costume. Occupying the space between the chancel and chapel is the glorious monument, possibly made by Samuel Baldwin, to Sir Rowland Berkeley (d 1611) and his wife Katherine (d 1630), who purchased Spetchley Park in 1606. All of the stained glass in All Saint’s dates from the 19th century and was made by Hardman & Co, one of the worlds leading manufacturers of stained glass and ecclesiastical fittings. 27-6-20 Den Burg,Texel(Nederland) Na een minuut stilte genomen te hebben bij de Algemene begraafplaats zijn wij ons pad gaan vervolgen binnen Den Burg, op nog geen steenworp afstand staat hier een voor mij toch wel indrukwekkende bunker met de naam Texla-bunker, vernoemd na het gelijknamige huis vlak ernaast. Het is een communicatiebunker van het type R617, gebouwd in 1943. Hier werden verbindingen gelegd tussen het vasteland en de batterijen op het eiland. Russen op Texel? Ja dat klopt! De Texla bunker speelde een belangrijke rol tijdens de Georgische Opstand. Op 6 april 1945 werd de bunker het hoofdkwartier voor de Georgische soldaten, die een opstand tegen de Duitsers begonnen. Texelse mannen werden opgeroepen zich aan te sluiten bij de opstandelingen voor een gewapende strijd en moesten zich melden bij de Texla. Hier wilden de Georgiërs voorkomen dat de Duitse bezetter om versterking zouden vragen. Door beschietingen van Duitse soldaten zijn hier de eerste burgerslachtoffers gevallen. Sporen van de strijd zijn nog altijd zichtbaar. In 2017 is de bunker in particulier bezit gekomen. Tijdens Bunker dag kun je er normaal gesproken een kijkje nemen alleen zitten ze nu midden in een verbouwing. Wanneer de bunker weer open gaat voor bezoek meldt ik dat op mijn pagina. In goed overleg hebben wij afgesproken dat ik en mijn vader het terrein mochten betreden met alleen toestemming om de bunkers van buitenaf te fotograferen. Zo gezegd, zo gedaan en naar mijn mening zijn de foto’s zeer geslaagd. Hou mijn pagina want deze week plaats ik een nieuw ww2 oorlogsweetje met als thema Texel (hoe toepasselijk). Garage Makeover under $600!!!! ~ This project was one that hung over our heads for years & now was finally the time to get it done. I’m so proud of the fact that we completely changed this space for under $600. We took our time & made sure to do it correctly. ~ Step 1- SORTING & SCRAPING... and then sort again, and again 😉 ~ Here are our “After & Before” pictures... ~ Picture #1- the pegboard! Uh, I feel like displaying tools is the only way to store them. It makes it SO much easier to find exactly what you’re looking for. ~ Picture #2- I already owned all of these bins (Home Depot), but placing them on shelves (instead of stacking), game changer. It makes it sooooo much easier to access them. Shelves are HUGE (92”x24”x84”) & are from Costco- $200 each. Worth EVERY PENNY. Also, by organizing this space, we were able to finally hook up this garage fridge that we haven’t used in years. ~ Picture #3- these Storage drawers (Harbor Freight- $8 each) are perfect for sorting small nails, screws, etc... And always label😉 ~ Picture #4- Use every bit of wall you can! This space is between the garage doors- there was absolutely nothing there before. Now, for just $15 (2 shelves at Lowes), it is the perfect spot for auto cleaners- also, the kiddos can’t access them. ~ Picture #5- this is our little “sports/ activity section”. I purchased 2 “9 cube storage shelves” at Lowes for $40 each, to store sports shoes/ boots. The cubes at the bottom are from Amazon for $10. Also, hang whatever you can! The bike hooks were purchased at Lowes for $15 (that came with 8 other hooks). ~ Picture #6- this is a cute, but also super functional, way of storing your winter salt. A smoke detector in every room would of saved the house. (Watch the video I posted yesterday for context). This first picture is what our bedroom looked like before they boarded it up. The smoke had to travel from the laundry room you see in the back, through our bedroom, through the kitchen and living room before it got to the smoke detector. That smoke detector saved our lives but it was too late for the house by then. We don’t know what caused the fire, but we know where it started. It started inside the laundry room, on or under a wooden desk that had a printer and a lithium battery charger plugged in. We’re guessing it was something with the electricity or the battery that could of sparked the smallest flame, next to paper, next to wood. It happened so fast. We’re ok. And I’m so thankful today for our lives, for our love, for our community, for our work... we are so blessed. People’s kindness moved me to tears a few times today. My heart is with everyone else displaced by fires this year that don’t have the support we do. I wish I could direct all this energy coming towards us to others who don’t have it. If people know links for that, please post in the comments. And get a smoke detector in every room y’all. Make sure they are working. Would hate for this to happen to anyone else. Today was pretty exciting for Caden. He has a love for horses and anything involving them. He wants to learn about every part of horses and how to care for them. So today he got up at 5:30 and off I took him to work and learn. He went with the horse Shoer. He made his first shoe and assisted shoeing 6 horses. I hope this continues and maybe he can even make a job out of it someday to earn money. Visitors got a “behind-the-scenes” view of this unique site when @lhsccanada opened the doors of its South Street location for tours for the first time in its history. @museumlondon provided support in the curation and interpretation of hospital artifacts and archival photographs. The hospital officially closed in 2013 and was demolished in 2015. This weekend would have been the 19th annual Doors Open London! Unfortunately, Doors Open London has been cancelled for 2020 due to COVID-19, but we’re sharing memories of past events throughout September. Doors Open London is the city of London’s largest collective celebration of history, heritage and culture and is one of the longest-running community celebrations in Ontario. As I’m stuck in lockdown like everyone else and getting itchier feet by the day, I thought I’d flex my photographic muscles with a stroll down memory lane. It’s been a while since I’ve picked up my camera so I thought I’d do some reflecting on some of my past experiences as a photographer and share some of the things I have collected from my travels, picked up off the ground mostly, to objects I have been given along my journey through life. Things that are not of any real monetary value but things that are the most value to me. Objects that live on my shelves or table tops here are without exception beautiful to me either because they simply are just that or that they trigger a memory I’d rather keep than forget. I have a letter that was written on October 20th in Paris 1900 from my Great Great Grandfather Rennie Hartley to a girl called Kime . The letter is simple, in it he says the letter ‘is a matter of great importance” It is a letter of proposal. He had met her only once, In the envelope is a photograph of him taken in Burnley in Lancashire. A Victorian version of Tinder…and the result of that letter ultimately created me and my genes. I have a sculpture of an inuit family that was given to me in lieu of payment for photographing artwork for a book, I have a Polar Bear claw and water taken from 20 metres beneath the North Geographic Pole, salt mined by slaves in Yemen from Timbuktu,.. I will start with a photograph of me taken when I was 5 or six when I was first gripped by the wonder of nature . I was with the family walking in the Yorkshire Dales , it was mid summer and very hot. I found a piece of limestone half buried in the ground, it was partially covered in quarts crystals. I pulled it out of the ground after a long fight, to discover it was huge and weighed almost as much as I did. It was and still is one of the most beautiful objects I have ever found. I carried it for five or six hours until I was utterly exhausted, almost to the point I was going to die with it rather than leave it. My Dad finally gave in as he realises I was keeping it no matter what and we walked to a nearby road and hid it for collection by car later that day. The geology - @martinrhartley on Instagram

Was für eine Woche - schon oft habe ich beim Youtube-Gewinnspiel von @gotools.de mitgemacht, aber diesmal hatte ich Glück und was für eines - ein komplettes Kit der Bosch GKT 18V-52 GC, inkl. zwei 8Ah ProCore-Akkus, dem neuen und sehr schnellen Lader GAL 18V-160 C und eine Führungsschiene FSN 1600. Ich konnte mein Glück lange nicht fassen, aber schon am Mittwoch hielt ich den Gewinn in meinen Händen. Am Samstag standen leider noch viele andere Dinge an, aber einen ersten Test konnte ich durchführen und ich freue mich riesig auf den Einssatz beim Bau meiner Werkbänke und vieler weiterer Projekte in meiner kleinen Werkstatt. Nach einem ausführlichen Einsatz, ziehe ich sicher nochmals meinen Vergleich zur GKT 55, die ich schon lange im Einsatz habe und definitiv zu meinen Lieblingswerkzeugen zählt. What a week - I have often participated in the YouTube lottery of @gotools.de but this time I was lucky and what a lot - a complete kit of the Bosch GKT 18V-52 GC, including two 8Ah ProCore batteries, the new and very fast charger GAL 18V-160 C and a guide rail FSN 1600. I couldnt believe my luck for a long time, but already on Wednesday I held the prize in my hands. On Saturday there were a lot of other things to do, but I was able to do a first test and I am really looking forward to working on my workbenches and many other projects in my small workshop. Obviously this isn’t a recent photo, but back in the day when we were 90% celebrity alterations, this place was our home on Music Row. Watching the smoke rise from i-65 as my wife and I got close enough to see the flames, I thought my career was over. Little did I know that the emotions filling me that night would be so easily replaced the next morning as our friends and adopted family members came to our aid. Cleaning up my life’s work, including precious memories of my then recently deceased mother and father, was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. I feared for my employees - their jobs literally at stake. My lifelong celebrity clients came to our aid as well. Names I can’t name, but my heart knows they know what they did for us. But the love from everyone, especially the brides who lost their gowns, bolstered us as a team. To know that their hopes and dreams also went up in flames made me realize that a building is just a building. It’s what you have inside you and the connections beside you that truly matter. Did it take the sting away? No. But with determination we’ve rebuilt. Now we see over 20 brides a week for alterations on their gowns, and countless people every day. Masks on, of course. We love each of you. Without your support, we wouldn’t have put our noses down and refused to give up.
