I was saddened to hear the news of the passing of Ron Tauranac today. Ron has been a huge part of the Brabham family and its success over the decades. I have been so lucky. . This body is clearly suited for one thing - from the size of my heart to the diameter of my ankles, running is what I am good for. But I say that Im lucky not because I was born with this potential to run fast, but rather because from ages 14-30 I knew exactly what I wanted. At an age when my peers were wondering who they were, by a quirk of genetics I got to skip the self loathing teenage years and the quarter life crisis. For those 18 years I woke up every morning with the clear purpose of learning and training and struggling towards becoming the fastest human on the planet. I was brutally hard on myself and I never came close to my goals, but I am so proud to think back on that brave skinny girl and know that she is me. . I retired three years ago at age 30 with nothing on my resume but “runs really fast.” While I’d been living out my irrational dreams on a mountaintop, my peers had been making mistakes and living life. They figured out careers, made money, had babies. I lived out of a suitcase, made barely enough to sustain me, and spent all day refining my body and mind by ever narrowing margins. I felt very lucky, but I knew I was making a tradeoff. I assumed Id have to go back and collect on the teens and twenties angst Id skipped. . Running is not a practical career move. There is no ladder, no clear way to make all those miles apply to the next stage of life. I would retire with no savings or marketable skills, and the knowledge gained over 18 years would to die with my career. . But that’s not what happened. Instead, I was given the opportunity by NRC to coach you. Think about how gratifying that was: After all those years, I stepped down from the mountain top expecting to find myself without purpose. But on these supposedly mean streets, I learned to be useful. I coached you and you listened. You worked hard. You got faster. We believed in each other. We talked about exercise physiology, sports psychology, race tactics, artistry of the body, history of the sport and bodily respect. WOW 🤩 Australian National 1500m record 🇦🇺4:00.42 at @istaf_berlin 😃 I took a chance, went all in and @pete.j.julian was confident if I raced aggressively, I could catch something special. Today that was lucky to be a PB and the Aussie record! As you can see @lauraweightman1 and I gracefully gave every inch we could in hopes of cracking the 4:00 barrier, but it’s fire in the belly for another day! 💪🏼 Here’s a couple of fun stats for you: 1. @ryangregson25 and I both got started with Albion Park Little Athletics Club back in the day and now hold the men’s and women’s 🇦🇺 outdoor national 1500m records. Pretty cool feat for a small south coast of NSW grassroots club! 2. At 23, I’m the first Aussie woman to hold both the 1500m and 5,000m national records in 23 years. На прослушивании первого курса я обернулась назад, там сидели мои выпускники и «старички», я задумалась по какому же принципу я выбрала именно вас, почему же именно вы остаётесь навсегда в моем сердце... Какой же ты вокалист моей студии? Первый отличительный признак- это КРАСОТА. Какие же вы красивые!!! Открытый взгляд, всегда улыбка, стильные, аккуратные, воспитанные, красота внешняя и красота души заметна на огромном расстоянии. Конечно чувство юмора. Как у меня обстоит дело с этим чувством, судить не мне, но как же с вами весело и интересно. Смеяться над шутками, над ошибками, над собой может не каждый, но вы можете и я это делаю с вами. Вкус и стиль. Музыкальный вкус. Стиль в одежде-это то, чему я могу поучиться у вас. Вы все разные, но мне нравится то, как вы выглядите, как вы чувствуете музыку, какая музыка вам близка. И это снова то, чему я у вас учусь. Вокальные данные, конечно, я счастлива, что каждый из вас отлично поёт, имеет развитый гармонический слух. Может оценить себя и продолжает работать над собой. Всё-таки у нас вокальная студия) Ум, креативное мышление, желание творить. Всё, что мы делаем, всё от сердца, по желанию и с любовью. Но всё же, есть что-то особенное, что-то важное. Я не особо понимаю , что же это, какое-то особое чувство, оно точно есть!!! Какая-то одна волна. Вот, наверное, этот главный принцип моего выбора в студию. Одна волна. Если мы не на одной волне, то уже после первого года, возможно, мы не пойдём дальше. А если у нас одна волна, то даже если после прослушивания ты не в команде, то рано или поздно, ты в ней будешь. Мои студенты - особенные, заметные, красивые, музыкальные, идейные, талантливые, душевные, открытые люди. Как говорится моя любовная любофф. Можно говорить о достоинствах ещё долго, но так в двух словах, собственно, вот такой мой вокалист и совсем не важно выпускник, нынешний или будущий. Не выбираю кого любить, просто люблю. P. Quando a gente busca por fotos ou assiste filmes de algumas décadas atrás, principalmente dos anos 60 e 70, a gente vê inúmeras imagens de homens vestindo mini shorts e croppeds. Entretanto, observando o guarda-roupa masculino contemporâneo, a gente já percebe que essas peças não são mais tão populares. Afinal, o que aconteceu? 🧐⚠️ Aquele era um momento de contracultura e busca por liberdade. Esse espírito solto refletiu diretamente na forma que os homens se vestiam e, logo, comprimentos curtos e roupas próximas ao corpo se tornaram desejáveis, sendo massificadas e muito utilizadas. Até que nos anos 80, a crise da AIDS se alastrou pelo mundo e o vírus HIV começou a ser chamado de “câncer gay”, até mesmo por médicos. O impacto disso na vida de pessoas LGBTQIA+ foi enorme. Ideias preconceituosas eram disseminadas em escalas absurdas, aumentando a marginalização e segregação. E o que isso tem a ver com a moda? Todas aquelas peças que se aproximavam de uma estética “afeminada” começaram a entrar em desuso pois homens héteros não queriam ser confundidos com homens gays. Pois é... 🙄🤦♀️ E é muito por isso que, ao longo da década de 90, percebemos shorts mais compridos e roupas masculinas discretas e sóbrias. Na galeria, além de imagens históricas, algumas fotos de marcas e personalidades que vem constantemente usando mini shorts e croppeds e colocando as peças de volta ao radar. Everyone was aware and all the attention was put on the World Record of the 1 hour women race in Brussels Diamond League. But @sarahlahtii was just behind, running alone since the beginning of the race and in a constant pace heading to the European Record. #MySydney2000 So many great memories from the Sydney 2000 Olympics. It was my first Olympic Games, first time I represented Australia as a senior athlete & only my 2nd 5km. I did a PB in my heat, marginally missing the final by a few spots. I can still remember the roar in the stadium when we marched in for the opening ceremony & also when I went to the front in my race. So many inspirational performances by our team but most of all, I loved my family being there to experience it all with me.
