When the results for my COVID test came two days later, doctors were doubtful about my reaction. I told them not to worry since Im a doctor myself. I knew that I could handle whatever the situation might be. Thats when they revealed that I was COVID-19 positive. As soon as the news spread, many of our neighbours panicked. The city administration council put up posters outside our door. People clicked photos and shot videos of my house. They shared it with my name, address, and personal details on different WhatsApp groups. Since people love to gossip on WhatsApp, ugly stories about me started circulating in social media. Even the news media put out the wrong kinds of stories. Despite going straight to the hospital from the airport, I had to be the victim of social media hatred. I didnt even go home to collect my personal belongings to make sure that I didnt transmit the virus to anyone. Thankfully, I started recovering and, after a few days, tested negative. But the hounding didnt stop after I was back home. I knew that going back home will be an unpleasant experience. Therefore, to avoid attention from neighbours and media, I insisted on going home late at night. Not just me but my entire family had to experience the harassment. My younger brother didnt step out of the house for two months. Neither did I. I would only step out during the night to avoid people. When I step out, I can still sense the eerie stares and gossip. It is like a bad dream - Im all alone. People refuse to hear when I plead to them that I didnt do anything wrong. The only way we can fight this pandemic is with the right balance of precaution and empathy. Yes, we need to be careful. But we also shouldnt let our fears overpower humanity within us”. C était il y a a peine encore quelques tous petits jours et ce n est pas vraiment simple d’ en parler encore moins de trouver les mots justes(ne pas heurter) parce qu en vrai il n y en a pas ... C’était le second chapitre, celui du livre de ma vie,celui de notre histoire. cette épreuve de plus qui j’en suis sure aujourd’hui me permettra de vivre encore plus fort, de vieillir encore plus vieille (amèrement parfois) mais je l’espère de toutes mes forces. 2 ✌🏻comme 2 ovaires /2 trompes comme 2 seins que j’ai sacrifié dans cette bataille mais surtout 2 comme seconde chance : d’avoir eu cette double chance de donner la vie à mes 2 bébés mes 2 flammes de vie... 2 comme 2 fois plus de raison d’y aller, deux fois plus convaincue « qu on ne m enlèverai rien, qui m’empêcherait de me tenir debout... solide... attachée à ce combat que je livrerai sans merci et qui n’entachera jamais ma soif de VIVRE, ma volonté féroce de voir grandir mes filles, et d aimer plus ardemment celui qui en redemande quand je lui dis « j vais prendre 1000 ans j srai flétris et fanée🤣 » vendeur comme programme 🤪! A massive fragmentation of the intervertebral disk at the L4/L5 space compressed the normal fat signal (false colored purple) surrounding the L4 nerve root as well as impinging all the descending roots within the spinal canal. First of all, these are photos of 2 dog’s airways. Just thought I’d make that clear as it’s not the first thing I saw when I looked at them myself 😂 The left photo is the airway of a non-brachycephalic dog (such as a Labrador) and the right photo is an airway of a brachycephalic dog (such as a pug). This is why a lot of Brachy dogs cannot even breathe properly, let alone exercise. However, a short nose does NOT directly correlate to restricted airways. This is why it’s important to research REPUTABLE breeders who HEALTH TEST their dogs and PROVE their ability to perform in dog sports rather than just looking for a breeder that breeds “long nosed pugs”. Outcrossing is also something that would be worth looking into for anyone interested. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment that involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization. The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization. However, IUI may be selected as a fertility treatment for any of the following conditions as well: • Unexplained infertility • A hostile cervical condition, including cervical mucus problems • Cervical scar tissue from past procedures which may hinder the sperms’ ability to enter the uterus • Ejaculation dysfunction How does IUI work? Before intrauterine insemination, ovulation-stimulating medications may be used, in which case careful monitoring will be necessary to determine when the eggs are mature. The IUI procedure will then be performed around the time of ovulation, typically about 24-36 hours after the surge in LH hormone that indicates ovulation will occur soon. A semen sample will be washed by the lab to separate the semen from the seminal fluid. A catheter will then be used to insert the sperm directly into the uterus. This process maximizes the number of sperm cells that are placed in the uterus, thus increasing the possibility of conception. The IUI procedure takes only a few minutes and involves minimal discomfort. The next step is to watch for signs and symptoms of pregnancy. What are the risks? The chance of becoming pregnant with multiples is increased if you take fertility medication when having IUI. Superheroes Wear Masks: Part 2 Here we show a woman who developed angioedema from her mask. Yikes!💥 Where are your masks coming from? Are they homemade or ordered from the internet? How does your skin feel after wearing a face covering all day? Masks come in all varieties of colors, designs, and materials. Some of these materials are intentional, like tightly woven fibers to create an intricate web of particle filtration. On the otherhand, some masks may carry unwanted materials. This can include: 🔺Formaldehyde 🔺Dibromodicyanobutane 🔺Quanternium-15 These chemicals can produce allergic reactions. Allergic contact dermatitis can occur with redness, irritation, acne, itching, and even blisters in the area of the skin that has come into contact with the skin. Hives, or urticara, can occur as itchy red spots or patches. This reaction can even cause respiratory symptoms, which may need urgent medical attention. A rare reaction to contact with a mask that we have seen in our practice is angioedema, or a sudden swelling of the lips and mouth. As you can see, this swelling went from bad to worse. Angioedema is dangerous because it can spread down into the oropharynx and risk closure of the airway if left untreated. Luckily, this woman improved after urgent treatment with steroids. These reactive chemicals do not appear on any ingredient list or product description of masks. However, certain masks can carry these chemicals as a byproduct of their manufacturing. Therefore, it is important to ensure that yours come from a reputable source. When it comes to wearing homemade cloth masks, people can react to the cloth itself or even the detergent or fabric softener that was used to wash the mask. You may have to try out different kinds of masks to find the one that best fits your superhero costume. We are kicking off a new series about digital dentistry with the leadership of our very own @celin.arce  Digital dentistry is a term that is used a lot and encompasses many aspects of dentistry (optical impressioning, digital radiography, intra/extra-oral photography, design/planning software, CAD/CAM fabrication, digital dentures, 3D printing, etc).  For this first foray into digital dentistry, we are going to talk about applications of digital dentistry for which you combine a 3D intraoral digital model with a 3D CBCT radiograph. CBCT stands for Cone Beam Computer Tomography.  These images are used in surgery (pathology, implant placement), endodontics (location of canals), periodontics (bone visualization), TMJ (visualization of condyle in fossa) to see the 3rd dimension (buccal-lingual). CBCT differs from a spiral CT (ie those used in hospitals) due to the fact the machine operates by rotating the x-ray source/detector around the patients head rather than moving the patient through a tube.  CBCTs are used in dentistry because they produce less radiation exposure (about 10x less for maxillofacial region) and the machines are lower in cost (around $75,000-100,000) than conventional CTs. See story for comparison of radiation doses. CBCTs are saved as DICOM files (these are a standard file format for medical imaging data) and can be viewed on DICOM viewers (some free ones are Blue Sky Bio, Planmecca Romexis Viewer). Digital models can be obtained by using an intraoral optical scanner (ie 3shape, CEREC) or by digitizing a conventional impression/model (laboratory scanner).  Most intraoral scanners are now “open”, meaning that you can directly export the scan file (which is saved as an .stl file).  And there are many different software programs that can open .stl files.  If you want to edit an .stl file or merge an .stl file and DICOM file, you will need some additional software.  We will be getting more into these topics over the next couple weeks.  Stay tuned…. #dental #digitaldentistry #CADCAM #3Dprinting #dentistry #dentalstudent #odontology - @dentinaltube on Instagram

Un material que viene siendo utilizado entre citas es el teflón, esto debido a las dificultades en ocasiones para colocar el algodón en la cámara pulpar y mantener los 4mm necesarios de restauración coronaria para disminuir las probabilidades de filtración, además también para evitar el que queden filamentos del algodón cuando este es extraído en la siguiente cita o inclusive para evitar que que se quede adherido a la fresa después de eliminar el material temporal. También es más fácil adaptarlo al piso de la cámara pulpar, existen dos trabajos uno invitro y otro clínico publicado en el 2017 por olsson et al., donde fue utilizado este material entre citas con buenos resultados en cuanto a filtración coronaria. Aunque estos resultados no deben ser tomados como definitivos porque en trabajos invitro no es la mejor forma de evaluar filtración y clínicamente pueden haber existido cofactores que podrían haber incidido en el resultado final, es una estrategia clínica que puede ser utilizada entre citas.
