Here is an early photo of Norwegian black metal band Ragnarok, circa 1994. Hailing from the same small city (Sarpsborg) as Metalion of Slayer Mag, Ragnarok were a perfect fit for Metalion’s record label Head Not Found. Although they had become label mates with Ulver and Gehenna, it seems they never reached the cult status of those aforementioned bands. It’s to no fault of their own though, as their first three albums “Nattferd”(1995), “Arising Realm”(1997) and “Diabolical Age”(2000) are immaculate studies pure black art. Not to mention the handful of amazing album they would release in the 2000s. Thankfully their first two albums, which have been notoriously hard to obtain, were just recently reissued by @dsr_productions 🏆 - @arcanearchivist on Instagram

Merry Christmas friends, family and people of this crazy mixed-up world. A lot of people are happy to say goodbye to 2019 and I for one agree with them. I’m quick to share the good/funny aspects of my life but definitely keep the bad/sad times close to my too-often-exposed chest. The sad ironic twist of human existence is we can only truly test ourselves, develop our real character, our talents, our devotion, our friendships, our minds and our souls in times of crisis and challenge. There are no mountain peaks without valleys, no light without darkness and no right without wrong. Who can truly appreciate a sunny day without not first experiencing the wrath of an angry storm? Who can know what it’s like to really fully savour something without being hungry for it first? These lives we live and these relationships we grow and nurture with those around us are all we truly have. I don’t believe in Heaven, well, maybe RocknRoll Heaven. (Hi Prince n Tom Petty. It is time for another history lesson! Today’s lesson is on Chet Helms, known as “The Father of The Summer of Love”. Chet was a producer and an organizer, as well as helped stage the free concerts and other events at the Golden Gate Park during The Summer of Love. He was the founder and manager of Big Brother and The Holding Company, and was the one to recruit Janis Joplin into the band. Chet was also the first to produce psychedelic light shows at venues such as the Avalon Ballroom and The Fillmore. When he arrived in San Francisco in 1962, Chet began to arrange jam sessions in the basement of 1060 Page Street (in Haight-Ashbury), charging 50 cents to attend, making this his first work within concert production and promotion. In February 1966, Chet, along with The Family Dog (a hippie commune) formed Family Dog Productions, and began to promote concerts at The Fillmore Auditorium, alternating weekends with the young music promoter, Bill Graham. Chet played a key role in introducing Bill Graham to the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. As the concerts became more popular, conflicts arose between the two, and Chet moved to the Avalon Ballroom, at 1269 Sutter Street. In June 1966, Big Brother and The Holding Company had their debut. Between April 1966 and November 1968, Family Dog Productions hosted concerts which mixed different genre artists, including rock, Indian, blues and soul. Some of the artists included in these concerts were, Country Joe & The Fish, Muddy Waters, Big Mama Thornton, The Doors, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds and Ali Akbar Khan. Occasionally, these concerts would feature speakers, Timothy Leary, Stephen Gaskin, amongst many other infamous counterculture icons. Day 1 of shooting #thebeastmustdie with #cushjumbo -finally here after 6 months of waiting and uncertainty. Covid19 brief for the crew every morning. Crew is cut down to the minimum. Covid19-tests done frequently and not allowed on set/work without a negative result.. While shooting people have been divided into three pods/zones. 1) all access 2) on set only when asked for 3) never on set. We chose first day to be easy exterior scenes without lighting and minimal crew to test all the procedures. Directing with a mask...12 hours might be heavy, but it’s worth it! Back where I belong. O disco de estreia, Facelift, já tinha dado um certo reconhecimento à banda, mas o álbum Dirt a levou ao estrelato. . A sonoridade depressiva e o clima meio sombrio tomam conta do disco, e acabou firmando-se como característica da banda. Várias canções falam dos vícios e foram compostas ainda na turnê de Facelift. O som pesado e o vocal único de Layne Staley, com o apoio de Jerry Cantrell, tornam o som do AIC perfeito. . Certa vez Layne Staley falou sobre as letras depressivas e o mofo como as pessoas encaravam. Ele disse que a intenção não era deixar ninguém pra baixo, mas que as pessoas que passassem por momentos depressivos, pudessem se identificar com as letras e que aquilo era muito mais comum do que pensavam.
