The oceans not wide enough To drown any part of my affection Its less than the depth of my love The sun revolves around you The stars envy your brightness The moon bows before your beauty Perfection seems no more an illusion Clarity about everything I see at once Rare are those who dont like you Temptation, fixation, love all at once Days seems less to adore you The nights spent tossing and tumbling Unable to get any sleep, no warm embrace The years passed by with my undying passion In the darkest ally, a bright light is visible Standing there like the hero from all British books Tall, dark and handsome, a little broody I may add too From dreams of hopeless romantics Fired from a gun straight in my life Wearing the disguise of devil helping others see Good in themselves never caring about him All the glory a man ever seeks Dripping from every inch of your skin All the love a woman ever knows You know it too well to let it go All the times that you ever spoke Stunned by your words, everyone invoked All those silent lines you wrote Spoke wonders of their own You glorify heavens with your presence The angels all seem devil sitting next to you The hell detests your every way The Satan runs from your very name Is this a man, a knight or a hero? • • • Felice Casorati (Novara 1883 - Torino 1963) Persone, 1910 Olio su tela, 150 x 177 cm • • • #napoliliberty #nariaeprimmavera #mostranapoli #gallerieditalianapoli #gallerieditalia #palazzozevallosstigliano #napoli #liberty #onview #mostreincorso #cataloghi #artbooks #artcatalogue #skiraeditore #skirabooks #felicecasorati #italianpainters #900italiano #novecento #artedelnovecentoitaliano | - @skiraeditore on Instagram

Laurits Andersen Ring (1854–1933): At Breakfast, 1898, oil on canvas, 52 x 40.5 cm, Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, Sweden . . . In Rings present painting, seated at the breakfast table reading the morning paper is the artist’s wife, Sigrid Kähler. Light streams in through the open door, and outside we can make out the lush green of summer. The year is 1898 and the Danish artist couple have been married for two years. The newspaper – a copy of Politiken – serves as a reminder of the world outside. Ring had been an early subscriber to Politiken, a ‘leftist’ Danish daily newspaper, when it first started to publish in 1884; it played an important role in the formation of the Social Liberal Party in Denmark, and remains one of the country’s leading ‘broadsheet’ papers. #三菱一号館美術館 #museeorsay #paulmathey #mitsubishiichigokanmuseum ポール・マテイ《室内の女性と子ども》 1890年 油彩・カンヴァス オルセー美術館 Paul Mathey, Enfant et femme dans un intérieur, 1890, huile sur toile, Musée d’Orsay Photo©️RMN-Grand Palais (musée d’Orsay) / Hervé Lewandowski / distributed by AMF - @mitsubishi_ichigokan_museum on Instagram

Welcome back, Boston 👋 October tickets are selling fast, but you can still reserve your spot to see At Dusk (Boston Common at Twilight) (1885–86) in the Art of the Americas Wing! Despite the old-fashioned charm At Dusk (Boston Common at Twilight) presents to viewers today, in #ChildeHassam’s time this scene was distinctly modern. Once an area of elegant residential row houses, many of the streets around the Boston Common recently had been transformed into a lively business district. 💌 Is there a work of art from the MFAs Art of the Americas Wing (@americasmfa) that youd like to learn more about? Comment with your requests, and well plan on featuring your choice in a future post. This one is for @becky.elana - @mfaboston on Instagram

At first it was more about poverty, but now I think it is mostly about piety. Millet made this painting as a commission for Thomas Gold Appleton, but for some reason he never came to collect it. After a while Millet decided to rework part of the painting and sell it to someone else. Originally, there were just these two people praying over a basket of potatoes they had harvested. It was then called ‘Prayer for the Potato Crop’. That title makes you think that they are praying for a better harvest, because what they have so far is not much. There is just one basket and a big bag on the wheelbarrow. But eventually Millet added the church tower in the background and renamed it ‘the Angelus’. That name refers to a prayer that catholics were required to say three times a day, at dawn, noon and dusk. Although in the 19th century it was usually at 6 am, noon and 6 pm. The prayer was announced by a bell that would ring in church towers. It would also be the end of the working day. So with that in mind, the painting is about the prayer at the end of a working day and therefore a pious moment. Apparently Millet himself said that when he had worked the fields as a child, his grandmother would always observe the Angelus so it was also a personal memory. The painting was sold and resold to several private owners, but even so, reproductions of it were also sold. Those became very popular as a religious painting. Many people commented that when they saw it, they could almost hear the distant bell ring. In fact, one of its previous owners, Jules van Praët, exchanged the painting for another Millet. When asked why he did that he said: “everyone thinks they can hear the nearby church bell tolling, and in the end, the constant ringing just became tiresome”. . The Angelus, Jean-François Millet, 1859, Musée d’Orsay, Paris. . #Potatoprayer #harvesting #barbizon #barbizonschool - @all.the.stories.of.art on Instagram

#Chiens #Chiensart #Toutous #artmoderne #Bonnard #PierreBonnard #masterpiece #matin #breakfast #labrador #cafe #modernite #artlovers #artcollection #painting #yoyomaeght #maeght #arthistory #modernart - @yoyomaeght on Instagram

In our tumultuous world today, when I crave tranquility, I enjoy paintings like this one. A maid pours milk from a pitcher into a bowl. She looks down, focused intently, performing this simple task as if it’s the most important thing in the world. Vermeer has captured a quiet moment in Holland. In Vermeer’s day, maids were generally portrayed as luscious objects of desire surrounded by mouthwatering foods. Though Vermeer keeps some of that conventional symbolism — cupids in the baseboard tiles, uterine jugs, erotic milk-pouring, and a heat-of-passion foot warmer — the overall effect here is quite the opposite. Rather than a Venus, this is a blue-collar maid, a down-to-earth working girl...working. She’s broad-shouldered and thick, balanced on a sturdy base. Because of the painting’s lines of perspective, we the viewers are literally looking up at her. Vermeer’s maid embodies that most-prized of Dutch virtues: the dignity of hard work. While the painting’s subject is ordinary, you could look for hours at the tiny details: the crunchy crust of the loaves of bread, the broken window pane, the shiny brass basket, even the rusty nail in the wall with its tiny shadow. Vermeers Kitchen Maid or The Milkmaid (c. 1657–1658) is at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. To read Ricks full blog entry visit ricksteves.com/blog (link in bio). (TRIGGER WARNING) They say sleep is for the weak, and so I pump my blood with caffeine, shot after shot, wrestling with the cold night breeze that tells me stories from the darkest corners of the world. I can only jot them down, somehow it helps me calm my unsettling nerves . . . //THEY ARE THOUGHTS OF A DISTRAUGHT ELDER SISTER, A POST PUBESCENT CHILD AT A FAMILY DINNER, A CONCERNED PERVERTED NEIGHBOUR WITH HIS TELESCOPE BY THE WINDOW, AN ONLOOKER FROM A RESTAURANT, AN ANXIOUS MOTHER AT HER DAUGHTERS CHRISTENING// 1.My sister once told me chocolate wrappers reminded her of condoms. I dont know what scares me the most, the fact that shes ten or that it made her smile//I live amongst strangers in my own house. 2.We pray for the homeless and curse the government for its tax implications. But the zomato orders keep coming//No I will not donate Rs.2 for charity, have you seen the delivery charge? 3.He doesnt care for her bad knees. Shes his wife after all, she should know pleasing his manhood came with a cost. And so she blows up his ego along with his erection//After all, men need to be told theyre big to feel big. 4.Once I saw a man give away all his food to a beggar just to pick up change from his collection. That day I learnt theres no selfless good deed// I guess Joey was right after all. 5.Fairy tales are for children, they said, and your hair almost reach your gentle curves. Lets talk about the bad men who like to tug on that hair//In this world, sex was casual and rape, glorified. . . . As I retire my pen for the night, Im inundated by the words written infront of me. These are voices of a few among the millions that send me their screams.I can only hope my mind grows deaf, fading into the night sky like the stars that seem to be missing tonight. Its perfect , I think. A starless black canvas for the nights that reek of pain and despair. The perfect setting for another creation. Art cannot be contained Maine 200: Artists in the Farnsworth Collection Born on June 7: Red Grooms Red Grooms is an American artist known for his painted-collage sculptures of both fictional and observed scenes. Born Charles Rogers Grooms on June 7, 1937 in Nashville, TN, he went on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago, before moving to New York in 1956. There, Grooms befriended and exhibited with artists such as Alex Katz, Jim Dine, and Claes Oldenburg, gaining recognition for his unique take on Pop Art. In 1986, the award-winning film Red Grooms: Sunflower in a Hothouse was released, documenting the artist’s process and personality. Characterized by his distinctive stylization and humorous portraits of people, Grooms’s works are constructed from illustration board and a hot glue gun, pieced together into a believable physical space. “In the New York works I’ve done I have tried to make it a kind of portraiture thing where I was really trying to get the texture of what I thought I saw, particularly in the neurosis of the population, and present it in context with the props—the mailboxes, fireplugs, any texture of the city,” he has explained. Grooms continues to live and work in New York, NY. Today, his works are held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, among others. . . . #kaiservilla #kaiserpark #kaiservillabadischl #damals #monarchie #kuk #kaiserfranzjoseph #sommerresidenz #sommerfrische #kaiser #emperor #badischl #salzkammergut #oberösterreich #upperaustria #museum #sights #skgt2024 #marievalerie #erzherzog #oldnew - @kaiservilla_badischl on Instagram

⁣ Diego Velázquez ⁣ Tavern Scene with Two Men and a Girl⁣ c. 1618–1619⁣ ⁣ “There are many who are considered one of the greatest, but far fewer who are thought to be the greatest. In the history of western painting, besides Raphael, Titian and Rembrandt only Velázquez belongs in this club. Manet called him the painters painter, and Picasso painted a host of paraphrases to uncover his secret. The essence of his magic was perhaps put most aptly by a contemporary writer, Francisco de Quevedo: Velázquez did not mimic reality, he created it. ⁣ In this Tavern Scene and similar youthful bodegons (kitchen or tavern scenes named after the bodega, or inn) naturally the Spanish genius does not unfold in full maturity. Common folk populate the canvasses, in apparently banal situations, as if pages from the picaresque novels of Quevedo and his peers had come to life, where the larks of crafty servants and other villainous ruffians tickled the readers fancy. This startling naturalism often invited claims of Caravaggios influence, but at the time Velázquez had not even seen the pictures of the Italian vagabond. Even more importantly, in Velazquez there is no trace of Caravaggios violent coarseness, however vulgar the subject may be, and a kind of calm, puritanical solemnity vibrates in the air. We can only guess at the exact story behind the image, but whether we see them as scheming gaol-birds or characters from an exemplary story, the figures presence has weight and significance - no less so than the kings who populated the works of his mature period.”⁣ ⁣⁣ #paintings #painting #artlovers #famousartists #famousart #artlegends #masterpieceart #artmasterpieces #thearts #everythingart #arteverything #artislife #artislife🎨 #dailyart #fineart #arthistorian #arthistorynerd #arthistory #historyofart #artlove #diegorodriguezdesilvayvelazquez #tavernscenewithtwomenandagirl #17thcenturyart #diegovelazquez #velázquez #velazquez #diegovelázquez #baroqueart #szépművészetimúzeum - @artpreciate_the_day on Instagram
