E a intubação orotraqueal é sempre fácil de ser realizada? Não! . Alguns animais apresentam pouca abertura da cavidade oral, focinho comprido e com isso a visualização da glote torna-se mais desafiadora. . O que não pode acontecer é deixarmos de tentar e fazer o nosso melhor para que a intubação seja efetivada! . A intubação orotraqueal durante uma anestesia não serve apenas para que ocorra a anestesia inalatória. Ela é um modo seguro de mantermos patentes as vias aéreas dos nossos pacientes, evitando colapsos, aspirações (cuff inflado!), além de facilitar a oxigenação e a ventilação assistida caso seja necessário. . A posição esternal acaba sendo a mais comum nas rotinas, mas não é a única. Podemos intubar com o animal em decúbito lateral, e o modo mais fácil de intubar sem auíxilio de outra pessoa, é no decúbito dorsal (como na primeira foto!). . Então a dica de hoje é: treinem a intubação em outras posições, saiam da zona de conforto e treinem também os colegas que trabalham com você! Uma intubação realizada de modo correto e no tempo certo, pode salvar vida! . O treinamento permite que a gente vá aperfeiçoando a técnica e nos traz mais segurança em situações desafiadoras. . . This cheeky robin joined us for breakfast hoping for some food. Unfortunately worms aren’t part of my family’s breakfast setup. All birds rely on their eyesight, but robins have superior eyesight to most garden birds. This means that they are usually the last birds to go to bed, and can be seen feeding on your bird feeders or insects attracted to streetlights late at night! Their ability to remain active in lowlight means they are often found singing at night time; as such their songs are occasionally mistaken for nightingales. They then sing throughout most of the year in order to maintain their territories and ward off any potential challengers. The only time they don’t sing is for a short period of time during the summer when they moult and want to remain inconspicuous. Las becasinas son aves que pertenecen a la familia Scolopacidae, que reúne especies que generalmente se caracterizan por plumajes que les permiten camuflarse en sus hábitats y picos largos que evolucionaron para capturar su alimento en el fango o en bancos de arenas. El género Gallinago al que pertenece la becasina tiene 17 especies. En Chile hay tres que se pueden encontrar en nuestros viajes de observación de aves en el altiplano (Becasina de la puna), el extremo sur (Becasina grande) o bien en la zona centro-sur (Becasina común). Se viene hablando mucho del Derecho a la desconexión digital. Ahora...Desconectarnos no es una opción porque es desde esta vía que se obtiene el acceso al conocimiento, no? ¿O será que estamos desdibujando tanto la realidad que no encontramos interés fuera del mundo virtual? Naturalmente el hombre trabajaba 8 horas, descansaba 8 y tenía de ocio otras 8. (Quién pudiera, no? estamos pensando muchos 👀) Y partiendo de esa base, pienso y reflexiono: ¿Qué perdimos y qué ganamos en esta era de la información y supuesta conexión? Por un lado, la imagen no puede sentir el quiebre de la voz, el palpitar, la energía de un buen trabajo en equipo logrado..❤️ Y por otro realmente ¿Tenemos derecho a no contestar comunicaciones fuera del horario laboral? ¿Podemos respetar el tiempo de descanso?¿Esto es posible en estas condiciones?🤷‍♂️ Me animaría a decir que estamos en medio de una situación de incertidumbre que pocas veces hemos transitado. Sin embargo, nadie se ocupa de invertir en nuestro sentir. El trabajo en casa, para muchos inesperado, sumado al confinamiento hicieron desaparecer los vinculos humanos. Y el control laboral ya no distingue de roles y estructuras corporativas, sino que pasa por esa necesidad de permanente conexión y la obsesión ligada a esa relación laboral. Mature tree hollows are prime real estate! It’s believed this eucalyptus tree is over 250 years old and is the perfect size for a cockatoo to nest in. Natural tree hollows are becoming increasingly scarce and are such a valuable resource for our native wildlife who not only rely on for breeding but some for shelter and safety. The types of hollows needed are generally found in mature and dead trees. As they age they are subject to extreme weather and insect attacks, It can take up to 100 years for a small hollow to form. Young trees rarely have suitable hollows and if we continue to destroy our old trees with the argument “it’s ok we are planting new trees” our native wildlife will continue to decline and be displaced. ¡La Ciudad de Buenos Aires ya tiene su #AveEmblema! 🦅 El proyecto Ave Emblema convocó a estudiantes de todos los niveles educativos para descubrir las aves nativas de la Ciudad. ¡Participaron más de 11800 estudiantes de 160 escuelas! 👦👧 . ¡El ganador 🏆 resultó ser el picaflor verde (Chlorostilbon lucidus), con 3086 votos! Al podio también llegaron la cotorra (Myiopsitta monachus) en segundo lugar con 1141 votos y en tercer lugar el benteveo (Pitangus sulphuratus) con 1136 votos. . El resultado formará parte de un proyecto de ley, 📜🖊que se presentará ante la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires para que sea oficialmente declarada Ave Emblema, de la misma manera en que se hizo con los otros símbolos naturales: el tala como árbol emblema, 🌳 la orquídea del talar como la flor que representa a la ciudad 🌷 y la mariposa bandera argentina. 🦋 . Hello there! This is the Black #Stork, although many of you may also know me as Ciconia nigra. Together with the White Stork, we are the 2 only stork species to be found in the #Mediterranean (#Spain #Portugal, #Albania and #Greece). You will easily recognise me by my black and white (underside) plumage, together with a red bill and legs. True fact: my wingspan can measure up to 1.90 m. My preferred habitat types are undisturbed riversides, wetlands and woodlands. As a migratory species, I travel throughout the Mediterranean and to Sub-Saharan Africa searching for the most suitable climate conditions. My biggest fear when migrating is to encounter #powerlines or wind farms, where I can be in danger of electrocution or collision. To prevent these interactions, IUCN-Med has recently published a set of practical guidelines. Also within IUCN, The Stork, Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group of the Species Survival Commission is committed to the scientific understanding and conservation of our bird families and habitats. Thanks to successful conservation programmes, in countries like Spain, populations of my species have slowly increased until almost 400 breeding pairs (49% in Extremadura and 26,55% in Andalusia) according to @seo_birdlife s 2018 census. 🔍 [ÉTÉ DE LA BIODIVERSITÉ] Espèce emblématique de la biodiversité d’Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, voici le chardonneret élégant (Carduelis carduelis). Une petite population de chardonneret élégants (~20) est présente toute l’année sur la zone humide en contrebas de l’un des points d’observations présentés, dans le Parc naturel régional du Pilat, par nos agents le 11 août dernier. 🐦 L’espèce est classée en danger sur la Liste rouge de l’UICN France, suite à de fortes baisses de sa population au 20ème siècle, pour 2 raisons principales : - avec lusage excessif des pesticides pour les mauvaises herbes, le chardonneret trouve de moins en moins facilement sa nourriture, composée quasi exclusivement de graines ; - durant les 20ème et 21ème siècles le chardonneret est beaucoup capturé pour devenir un oiseau dornement. 👮‍♀️👮 Afin de protéger l’espèce, l’OFB intervient notamment pour limiter le trafic (CITES) et veiller à la bonne application de la réglementation sur les pesticides. Pendant l’été, s’ajoute à ces menaces le dérangement de la faune. 🚶‍♂️🤫 Alors restons sur les sentiers balisés et restons discrets pour ne pas détruire les habitats ou perturber intentionnellement l’espèce. ⚠️ Au titre du droit de l’environnement français, la capture, la détention, le transport et la commercialisation de spécimens d’espèce protégée comme le Chardonneret élégant (Carduelis carduelis) sont interdits et constituent des délits. Happy Friday everyone! We couldn’t let this week end without first celebrating Deaf Dog Awareness Week! Here’s just a little bit of Pyper’s story and her impact on her people ❤️ “Pyper was my first experience with a deaf dog. I had no idea what to expect and I was immediately amazed at how she still seemed so much like a “normal” dog. Now that she has been with me for almost 5 years and we have had multiple deaf fosters come through our home I know that they are just like any other dog! The way they experience the world is just a bit different. They need to be trained with touch signals or hand signals instead of verbal commands, but otherwise they are just as happy, playful, and loving as any other dog. Pyper amazes me every single day with how care-free she is. Nothing can ever slow her down and people have jokingly referred to her as the happiest dog in the world. The critically endangered White-bellied Heron, also known as the Imperial Heron, is an extremely rare and large stone-gray heron with a distinctive white belly and long neck. The species’ range extends from the eastern Himalayan foothills in Bhutan and north-eastern parts of India, to Bangladesh and north Myanmar. In India, recorded populations can be found in the north-eastern state of Assam, and in Namdapha National Park in Arunachal Pradesh. With a rapidly declining and limited population, the White-bellied Heron is threatened by the widespread loss of its habitat. The species, which is primarily observed in terrestrial and wetland habitats, favours mountain rivers and streams often located close to broadleaved forests and wet grasslands. With the White-bellied Heron’s natural environment undergoing degradation, fragmentation, disturbance, and conversion; the rare species is faced with the grave consequence of increasing human disturbances and shrinking natural habitat and ecosystem to support their populations. Vanellus chilensis. Tero, Queltehue, Treile.  Esta estridente y estilizada ave mide entre 32 y 36 cm. De frente pronunciada y un patrón bastante llamativo, negro en la frente, lorum y garganta, que continua hacia abajo con una línea en medio del cuello y extendida como una gran mancha pectoral negra. Cabeza gris con una cresta gris delgada. Dorso gris con brillo parduzco metálico. Cobertoras alares grises con brillos tornasolados. Primeras y secundarias negras. Pico rosado con punta negra, ojo rojo, y patas de un vivo rosado medio rojizo.  Es nativa de América del Sur, reconociéndose 4 subespecies, de las cuales 2 están presentes en chile, ssp chilensis y ssp fretensis que se diferencian por ubicación.  Vanellus chilensis chilensis, la de las fotografías se distribuye desde la región de Atacama hasta la región de Los Lagos. Habitando praderas, zonas agrícolas, parques, jardines etc.  Se alimenta principalmente de insectos, por lo tanto, se dice que son “buenos jardineros” ya que controla poblaciones de insectos en prados y jardines. También se les dice que son buenos cuidadores, ya que están siempre atentos a cualquier asomo de peligro, lanzando de inmediato un grito metálico estridente que alerta a todo su entorno.  Esta ave comienza su etapa reproductiva durante el invierno, nidifica en el mismo suelo, poniendo cerca de 3 a 4 huevos. Sus crías son autofagas, es decir, se alimentan solas apenas nacen, poseen colores mimetizados con el medio lo que dificulta verlos a simple vista. You might think that the more you run the more the tissue will adapt to running. Sadly with bone adaptation this doesn’t seem to be the case. . Bone adapts better to short periods of impact separated by rest so a long run may not lead to more adaptation than a shorter one. . This may be why bone stress injuries are common in runners - the bone can’t adapt enough for the training load it’s exposed to. . Bairds Sandpipers stopping over at Blackie Spit This species is slightly larger than the other peep sandpipers, with scaly plumage, and the long wingtips wingtips project beyond the tail. They prefer to breed in drier, barren areas of the Arctic Tundra than other shorebirds. These birds were foraging and resting further up the shoreline than the Western Sandpipers nearby.
