For over 10 years this guy has been by my side. We’ve been through a lot together- heartbreak, joy, a marriage, moving across the country multiple times, and now sickness. The last couple of months have been rough on him. He’s spent multiple days at the vet and almost died twice. This last time he had emergency surgery to remove a massive tumor from his intestine. We aren’t out of the woods yet, he’s suppose to be on bed rest but is doing amazing. The vet said there’s a high possibility of the tumor returning but we are staying positive he’s going to be fine. Dogs are just the best. Yesterday I told I like it slow Today Ive got some ideas about how you can slow down and get crafty ... Crafting is a great way to start embracing a slower way of life. For example, its cold so you go and buy a jumper. You probably dont know where it came from or how it was made. If it’s a piece of fast fashion, you might throw it away after a few uses. Or ... you could make your own jumper. The act of knitting, crocheting, weaving, or sewing it yourself slows the whole process down. You become more connected to the piece. Your jumper brings you an inner glow, as well as keeping you warm. Your jumper has a story, each stitch holds a memory of your process, through your creation, your jumper is part of you. In a few years you may pass your jumper on to someone else, or recycle the elements and create a new item. Your slow fashion garment carries your love, stories and energy sustainably forward. Maybe you want to take the slow movement to the next level in your crafts by getting as involved as possible in each step of the process. If we go back to the jumper scenario, a slow crafting knitter might grow her own sheep, spins their wool into yarn, dyes the yarn herself with plant dyes from her own garden, and then finally knits with that yarn. #DIY because I hate empty walls!! *This is the only photo I have of this DIY* . This was our previous rented apartment. The second room was rarely used and I never felt like sitting in that room because empty walls kill me😅 . We did a quick diy to make this room cozy enough to sit and relax. One side of the wall is a pinterest inspired cardboard wall art: 🌸I had cut those cardboards in hexagonal shapes 🌸 Wrapped them up in paper, and colored them with fevicryl acrylic colors in shades of blue, pearl blue, dark blue and bronze. 🌸Stuck them up with double sided tape .
