TW ass*ult, ab*se................................................... In the past couple weeks, I have gone through some of the hardest of my life. With the state of the world and the current resurfacing of assault, I have been struggling to be positive, or happy, or feel supported. I have isolated myself, felt more distant than ever before, and found myself unable to move on from these painful feelings. Trauma sometimes sneaks its way back into your life and infiltrates even the most mundane and simple things. It leaves you always insecure and lonely, grasping for straws. Even through years of therapy and medication, I still feel so destabilized. I have now been faced with whether I should say something or if I should I not? What would I even say? Would it even be helpful for me to say something? What are the consequences? Would I take up too much space? I think I have chosen to say something because I believe that communication and taking away the stigmatization of assault can eventually pave our way into a healthier future, where dialogue and education on sexual conduct is prioritized. This being said, I have lost so much, I am still so fragile and scared and need to look out for myself. I hope that in sharing my stories it can help someone else and continue the dialogue. I hope that we make sure to make more space for people of color and their experiences. I hope we can all listen. I hope we can all learn. - @samson.fragos on Instagram
