There are dozens of tiny harbours in Kinshasa. They are all separate concessions. In a country the size of Europe, with limited and poor roads, the rivers are veritable lifelines. Bustling harbours like this one attract sellers, of cigarettes and alcohol, of streetfood or charcoal. Their customers are the crews of the many boats that moor here and the many passengers that board transport ships clandestinely. Circa 1962, Amrit Bahadur Chitrakars father often developed photographs for the Rana and Shah families. One evening, Amrit had to develop photographs for Kendra Shamsher Ranas relatives. He shut the door and windows, lit a red bulb, and made his bedroom the darkroom. Terletak di Jalan Veteran Utara pasar ini dulunya terkenal sebagai distributor gula merah ke daerah Irian, Palu, maupun beberapa daerah lainnya di Indonesia. Pasar ini lumayan bikin macet Jalan Veteran Utara. Dinamakan Pasar Kalimbu karena dulunya orang2 yg berjual-beli di Pasar ini menggunakan sarung untuk membungkus kepala dan badan mereka dari hawa dingin. Целые ряды свежей зелени и вкусных овощей и фруктов, так как в основном здесь торгуют местные фермеры и цены в разы ниже🍍🍅🌽 . На рынке можно увидеть наборы для приготовления традиционных тайских супов Том Ям, Том Кха и т.д., которые включают стебли лемонграсса, корни галангана и листья кефр-лайма. Все это ассоциируется с тайской кухней🌶🌶🌶 . Самый большой продуктовый рынок находится в центре Пхукет Тауна называется Phuket City Wet Market 2. Цены приемлимые и несколько ниже, чем в других местах огурцы от 10 бат, помидоры от 35 бат, зелень от 15 бат, тыква, баклажан от 20 бат, кукуруза свежая от 30 бат за килограмм🌽🍅🥒, в общем сюда надо обязательно придти. . Очень много острого и сладкого перца чили разных цветов, он добавляется в тайские блюда в качестве основной специи, а также закуски, выпечка🌶🌭🍕 . В Тайланде много возможностей разнообразить ежедневно свое меню полезной растительной пищей🍆🧄🥦🥬 . This week, “Drowning in Plastic” opened at Visa Pour L’Image in Perpignan, France. Photos by James Whitlow Delano @jameswhitlowdelano, Philippines 1st: Man sorts recyclable plastics at a recycling business in Happyland district in the Tondo slum. Manila, Philippines Tondo and other Metro Manila slums are overrun with plastic and other recyclable materials, creating jobs for local residents in the recycling business. Not only is plastic creating massive problems to the marine ecosystem where zooplankton, the foundation of the marine ecosystem, mistake micro plastic for food – weakening them by filling their stomachs with toxics not food - but this could lead to a collapse of marine ecosystems upon which all sea life, including humans, depend. The primary component in plastic is petroleum. Perversely, petroleum fuels are also used to in the production of plastic, releasing greenhouse gases and warming the atmosphere. There needs to be a paradigm shift need for humanity to deal with the manifold environmental problems related to this most-versatile of materials. 2nd: Plastic accumulates in the Tullahan River delta shortly before it empties into Manila Bay and eventually the South China Sea. Six of the top 10 contributors to ocean plastic are the nations surrounding the South China Sea - the Philippines is the world’s third largest contributor to ocean plastic behind China and Indonesia. 3rd: Outrigger fishing boats amidst a great congregation of floating plastic, styrofoam and the remains of water hyacinth, an exotic species of floating plant that has spread like wildfire in Southeast Asia at the Navotas Fish Port Complex. Metro Manila, Philippines As dramatic as floating plastic is, Erik van Sebille, at Utrecht University in the Netherlands found in 2015 that 95% - 99% of all plastic in the ocean is not on the surface anymore. So theres this pic that I come across every so often. Ive seen it on docos, movies and on socials. I grew up staring at this photo. The man on the left, directing the people is my grandfather Risati Eteuati. The 2 girls near him are his daughters, my aunts. Ive heard many stories of him, mostly of how much of a great leader and how handsome he was. They were leaving theyre home Tokelau to go to NZ on a scheme NZ had initiated to fight the over population Tokelau was facing in the 70s. They left everything knew, created businesses, communities with broken or no English at all. They felt the fear trusted God and moved anyway. It dawned on me a couple weeks ago. Myself and so many other NZ Pacific people now living in Australia are 2nd generation Pacific people. Our babies are now 1st generation Australians! Our people are always moving, adapting, surviving, feeling the fear, trusting God and moving anyway. Can I encourage someone? Someone feeling terribly afraid of what is ahead but they do want to start something- a business, a book, whatever. Trust in God. Even if you dont believe in Him, if youre tried everything else, may as well try Jesus 🤷🏽♀️. Because like the people in this pic they felt the fear, but they trusted God and moved anyway.
