Photo by @eva.colomer The Lobi belong to an ethnic group that originated in what is today Ghana. Starting around 1770, many Lobi peoples migrated into southern Burkina Faso and later into Côte dIvoire. The group consists of around 180,000 people.Lobiri is the name of the language spoken by the Lobi people. Lobi dwellings are characterized as large rectangular or polygonal compounds known as maison soukala. They are spaced well from each other and are composed of a single vast mud banco wall and a small entrance. An entrance to a Lobi house is a relatively recent development. At many houses, there is a ladder made from a large, Y-shaped tree trunk with notched steps, which lead up to the roof where inhabitants may access an interior granary and their own rooms below. Access to individual sleeping quarters is also available inside. Only the tyuordaarkuun (or head of the household; there is no chief in Lobi society) can give permission to enter the house. The roof is broad and flat and forms a terrace which provides a lookout point but can also be used for sleeping in the dry season. Domestic animals have their own space, and water is gathered from a well or the river. The rooms inside a Lobi house are very dark, and the size varies in relation to function. Each wife has a room for herself and her children where meals are prepared. Large earthenware jars used to hold water or other personal belongings are often stacked up against the kitchen walls and are a testament to the owners economic status. Image from Papua, taken on a 42 days trek thru the jungle back in 1994. Me on the right, if anyone was wondering. On Friday this week I’ll have a talk in Foto.no. A bit different this time. Not gone talk so much about my trips but more on how I work and plan my journeys. I’ll also share how I got into this and why I still do this after more than 25 years in the business. And hopefully my presentation will recruit some new photographers to do what I do. Go to Foto.no to follow online, or come to Oslo and see it face to face on Friday 25. Thanagarian Katar Hol #Hawkman is another story but expect Hodge to be #PrinceKhufu. 🦅 Nevertheless, Egypt is an African nation. A lot of Egyptians really do look more melanated with more Sub-Saharan African features as well and ancient Egyptian art shows a BUNCH of this. Art of people of Thebes, Egypt show brown and dark brown skin people. 🦅 Teth-Adam aka Black Adam working with Prince Khufu will be a part of his history in Egypt with Teth coming from the nearby country, Kahndaq, east of Egypt. Expect that in the movie. 🦅 KHUFU SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE MELANATED IN THE COMICS as its not accurate to have him so doggon pale. Khufu in Smallville and the CWDCU (though Im ok with it) is still inaccurate to what the comics tells us as those 2 Khufus are played by Euroid/white actors and got reincarnated for modern age, looking the same, theyll likely do this with DCEU-Hawkman. Notice both Princess Chay-Aras were Iranian (Smallvilleverse) and Afroid/Native American/Asian-Indian (CWDCU), I dont get it. Might as well made Hawkman non-Euroid too. 🦅 No racebending detected, more like genetic correction but go off. 🙄 ∆ #AldisHodge #BlackAdam #Hawkgirl - @dsolarisknight on Instagram

POSTER PRINT - THE MEETING PLACE by Aulpunda (Jean Barr-Crombie) A meeting place (mapu–kari) was sacred for dance, trade and corraborree. Messages inviting neighboring tribes to come to the meeting place were sent via smoke signals or word of mouth. Meetings and celebrations at mapu–kari could last for weeks. The central circle in the painting depicts the meeting place, where celbrations began and dancing and trading occurred. The lines represent pathways to the meeting place, the smaller circles are camps on route to the main camp and the dots are people gathering. Click on website to purchase. THE MAASAI WARRIORS (MORRANS) Maasai warriors are trained, they become war specialist on combat war( Traditional warfare using spears, Bows & Arrows and swords) Traditionally the Maasai are not Blacksmiths so they befriend blacksmith tribes(Datoga & dorobo) and assure them protections within Maasai land territories, as they dont rare cows, goats and sheep, They feed on wild Animals which Maasai doesnt, so they dont end up fighting over property ownership. The first big training a warrior must learn from his superiors is how the goat, cow or sheep is slaughtered. Mostly there is a lot of goat slaughtering in any Manyattas or villages, because of guests welcoming, preparing medicine for the sick or welcoming a new born baby. Boys are always there, eager learn how from their fathers or seniors. As shown in the picture every warrior must have his own sharp sword to participate in bull slaughtering, they must master on how to separate every joint and every muscle and who it belong to (every portion or part is named and has its rightful owners from the all ages and divide of the Maasai society). A whole bull in our tradition teachings has 26( as in one piece most are pairs) different parts excluding, the skin, head and hooves. There is strict traditional norms and rules that has to be observed and monitored by elders or anyone when slaughtering in our cultural practices, first you stub the cow with a sharp object in a hole at the back of the neck, it cuts the spinal cord, disrupt the connection to the brain. The hole doesnt waste a lot of much needed blood, then it is suffocated using a fine sheep skin tied around the bulls mouth, doing so keeps vain warm so the blood could not clot easily before a big gush hole is open at the belly using sharp sword through, all the way to the heart arteries to release enough blood for many warriors. THEN THE BLOOD IS FOR ALL AND SOME FOR THE OCCASION. EVERYONE LOVE TO HAVE THE FIRST COUNT, THEN THE SKINNING PROCESS BEGINS, STARTING FROM THE RIGHT TO THE LEFT SIDE.......ITS A RITUAL THAT SOME SKIN IS LEFT ATTACHED TO THE HOOVES, TAIL AND ON THE HEAD! #maasaiwarriors #maasaiculture #maasaivillage #maasaitribe #maasaipeople - @maasai_tribe on Instagram

Jealousy has ruled Wakapikas life. He has always played second fiddle and this drove him to take destiny into his own hands. The Himba are great users of Witchcraft. An Omiti or spell can be cast and it is only a matter of time before these devastating spells work their magic. Wakapika was alway jealous of his brother. He was a well respected man who loved his family and loved to socialise. This jovial life bought him many friends and in turn many wives. His village grew as did the number of his children. More children allowed his livestock to also grow so in turn so did his wealth. Visitors were always welcomed as a good time was always to be had. This all ate at Wakapika, and drove him to the Witchdoctors place. With the required price paid the Witch doctor got down to work, an Omiti was placed. With Himba life being what it is, it was not long before gossip began to spread and word was finally heard of Wakapikas evil plan, he wanted his brother dead. Many months passed and nothing happened, but soon the curse would take its toll. His brothers health began to decline. A year later he was found dead. Wakapika was then free to take what was now rightfully his, his brothers village and his herd of cattle. His brothers wives knew their misery was born by Wakapikas greed and some soon moved away. Today you can find Wakapika sitting in his greed, his village falling to ruin with every passing day. - @benmcraephotography on Instagram

◾LAST WATER Climate change has been identified as a risk factor for human rights and is a drama that is pushing many ethnicities to the brink of an abyss and they risk disappearing forever. The connection between climate change and human rights is paying increasing attention to the unequal effects that are occurring in various areas of the world. Countries with tropical and subtropical climates, such as Africa, are expected to be the most affected and devastated. Turkana County, Kenya, is a tangible example. Between 1967 and 2012, in this region, average temperatures increased by 2 - 3 degrees Celsius, with an average of 45 degrees for at least five months a year. Thousands of dead animals emerge from the arid sands of what were once pastures and rivers. Thousands are the shepherds who have had to adapt, moving on the shores of the homonymous lake, becoming fishermen. In Turkana people fight and die for a last drop of water. HELP THE TURKANA URGENT ⠀ Following our successful fundraiser to help the #Wodaabe nomads of Niger survive the pandemic, we are now looking at the needs of a Turkana community in #Kenya. ⠀ ⠀ The #Turkana people live in #NorthernKenya, in proximity to the largest inland lake in Africa that shares their name. We have visited them for over 40 years, photographing their traditional ceremonies and beautiful beadwork and crafts and becoming long lasting friends. ⠀ ⠀ Due to Corona Virus, drought and infestation of locusts, we have been contacted by one of their respected community leaders. The Turkana are seeking to work with us to set up projects to ensure the Turkana communities and survival can be maintained in these unprecedented times. ⠀ ⠀ With the help of the community leader we are looking to develop three projects requested by the women: ⠀ ⠀ * Creating a shelter from the sun (45 degree heat), so women can meet to discuss community issues and work on crafts to sell at market to bring in much needed income. ⠀ ⠀ * Buying reusable face masks so the community can be safer from the Corona Virus as they regularly enter town for trade. ⠀ ⠀ * Enabling the building of community gardens to provide much needed food. ⠀ ⠀ We are trying to raise $3,500 to carry out these projects. We invite you to help us make these important projects a reality for this special group of people. ⠀ ⠀ If you are in a position to help, any donations would be so appreciated.

Not to negate our collective stolen African slave ship trauma nor enslaved horrors that are truth. But I have always identified with this. My grandfather (moms father) told me years ago before my 9th bday, claiming his grandmother was Choctaw native...That’s 4 generations before me. #african #aboriginal #native #black The schools drill one narrative. #whitewashing (his-story) Only Asians over the Bering Strait denies any other geographical topography or pre Columbus oceanic navigation or skewing /omitting non Eurocentric historical story / timelines.
