The art of slow living isn’t 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 cooking from scratch and long afternoons with a book and cup of tea, it is accepting that most good things take time. Working for years to build this business is slow living (although many lessons had to be taught the hard way). Its learning that good things require time. Health, relationships, and work all take serious invested time. Even the simplest salad takes the effort to go to the farmers market instead of the local shop. The linen plant has to be nurtured for over 100 days before the plants cover the fields with its beautiful blue buds. Nature does not hurry. Slow living is the opposite of quick and easy. Its hard work. And having enough respect for the journey and process to not indignantly expect to be an overnight success. Its about spending time generously but discriminately. And thats how the art of slow living is showing itself to me: its giving the things I care about my time and saying a firm no to countless distractions. After a long and much needed social media sabbatical, here we are again, feeling rested, grateful and wanting share what is beautiful and meaningful to us, but most importantly, to share our love for linen. 21st Sept World Gratitude Day - @thelinenworks on Instagram

Rising sea levels threaten our community and coastal way of life at the same time. I have been working with our Planning staff, colleagues from around the state, and the Coastal Commission on a set of innovative strategies to address the threat. Our Board adopted a new Local Coastal Plan that includes a set of policies that recognize our coastal geology, take into account our voter-approved land-use policies, and prepare our county to deal with the impacts of sea-level rise. This approach promotes good use of science, creates flexibility in our response, and sets a time horizon of 20 years so we can reconfigure the policies based on the latest science. - @superleopold on Instagram

Aan sommige dingen begint @demammavan niet meer... Er was een tijd dat boodschappen doen een soort uitje was. Als de jongste telg toe was aan zijn middag slaapje legde ik hem in de kinderwagen en liep met de oudste aan de hand langs de winkels om de hoek. Een boodschappenlijstje was totaal overbodig. Het maakte ook allemaal niet uit. Eenmaal thuis hadden ik en de kinderen een frisse neus en in de avond een fatsoenlijke maaltijd op tafel. Na de komst van de derde werd het doen van boodschappen een stuk minder leuk. Met boodschappenlijst, een baby in de maxi cosy, peuter van 1,5 in het zitje en een kleuter van 3 werd het al gauw een soort van onhaalbare onderneming. Change always seems to be a very hard part of life but almost always creates the most amazing choices in life.
