May 30, 1806. Future President of the United States, Andrew Jackson, duels Charles Dickinson in Kentucky after Dickinson accused Jackson of cheating on a horse race and insulted Jackson’s wife. In the duel Dickinson would shot Jackson in the chest, and Jackson’s shot would kill Dickinson. The wound Jackson received would heal but the pain would stay with him for the rest of his life. This is one of many duels Jackson would participate in. Some estimates believe that Jackson had done 5 to 100 different duels in his life. _______________ #ushistory #americanhistory #history #usa #american #america #tagafriend #tagsomeone #tagaperson #duel #jackson #horseracing #horserace #killed #kentucky #frontier - @ushistorydaily on Instagram

Happy birthday to Wilhelm Wundt (1832–1920), the father of #experimentalpsychology. He taught the first course ever in scientific psychology, and in his laboratory, laid the groundwork for modern work on #memory, #perception, and #psychophysics. He is my intellectual great great great great grandfather through my advisors Roger Shepard (via Clark Hull) and Mike Posner (via Wolfgang Kohler). #birthdays #August16 #mentors #authorsofinstagram #successfulaging #historyofscience #linkinbio - @daniellevitinofficial on Instagram

- Who was Eise Eisenga and what made him build the oldest still working planetarium in the world? It was the prediction of a priest in 1774 that the apocalypse was near due to celestial body alignment. That drove Eisenga to build it. The priest caused a turmoil and Eise was able to put that to rest.
