National siblings day and Easter My sisters and I have always depended on each other we grew up surrounded by storms and chaos. Hard times bring blessings. My sisters were magical, storytellers and creators. We danced we sang and we played games together using our imaginations. We were barefoot, tomato sandwiches and laying in the sunshine....nothing fancy. We were lucky to take beach trips together and get to go to the beautiful mountains near Asheville North Carolina. We made up dance routines and played a game we created called I double dare! When we played this game we would do crazy things like...go to the laundromat waiting on my father to finish his job and play our made up game. I remember once my sister got in a dryer, I danced on a table and then another sister stole someone’s bicycle only for a moment while he chased her through the parking lot. Later that day as we waited for my father we danced in the median in the middle of the highway.!!!This was how we got our kicks. Like any good Southerner I drank beer way before I was supposed to. Made prank phone calls that would blow your mind. They even snuck me into a movie theater when I was around four for free pretending like I was a baby. Basically we found things to laugh about that were our own special language. An odd sense of humor that siblings share. We all love to read, play cards, hike and garden. There is beauty in the joys we have because they are simple and free. We all love church in our own sweet way and I look back at kneeling with my father & praying with my mother. I am grateful to them because I understand and feel a connection to a higher power and the comfort of quiet meditation. Yes, I am completely blessed and grateful. Because I understand what the riches of the world really are. Blessed with family and the love of simple things. #easter #siblings #gratitude - @andiemacdowell on Instagram
