Non ho visto molte volte l’alba, devo essere sincera. Sono pigra e spesso preferisco scattare qualche foto al tramonto, piuttosto che alzarmi presto per godere del sorgere del sole. Però quando sono al mare, decido almeno una volta di correre da sola in spiaggia e godermi in silenzio questo momento così speciale. Mi piace arrivare un po’ prima che il sole sorga e ammirare i colori che assume il cielo, sedermi di fronte al mare, lasciarmi cullare dal dolce rumore delle onde e aspettare che la palla infuocata del sole inizi a spuntare dall’acqua. È un momento in cui il tempo è quasi “sospeso”, tutti dormono e gli impegni della giornata possono aspettare ancora un po’. Mi Efra adorado, mi hermano mayor en la fotografía, mi maestro, mi amigo incondicional, hoy mi corazón está arrugado, triste, muy triste. Pero también muy agradecido por haber conocido a un hombre tan noble, sabio, con una energía tan bella y compartir tantos momentos especiales junto a mi querido amigo. Hace unos días hablé con el para saber cómo estaba, platicamos de cómo nos encontrábamos en ese punto de nuestro confinamiento, compartimos nuestro sentir y experiencias, me contó que seguía con mucho temor de salir de casa, pues veía que afuera las personas no se cuidaban, le dije que deseaba pronto visitar San Cristóbal para ir juntos el por su ristretto y yo por mi vermut. Después de platicar un buen rato, le animé por tercera vez a hacer videollamada para Virus de Amor, pues antes no había tenido ánimo, habíamos quedado para el 29 de septiembre que es cuando ambos podíamos y así cerrar el Virus de Amor con un retrato suyo, ya no dio tiempo, pero aún así, Efraín es parte de este Virus, porque su amor y energía que siempre transmitía daban paz, estar con el era un placer, nadie como él sabia escuchar y dar palabras oportunas y sabias, quienes lo conocieron saben de qué hablo. Hoy mi Efra se ha convertido en polvo de estrellas para desde el cielo seguirnos llenando con su luz tan bella. Efraín no solo será eterno y recordado por su trabajo fotográfico impecable, de eso no hay duda, deja una huella profunda en muchos corazones que lo amamos y admiramos como fotógrafo pero más como una gran ser humano. Day 89| A few years ago Frank and I decided we wanted to move to Florida. We knew then we needed to make it happen one day. For us, for the kids. So we sat down and we made a list of everything we wanted: 1-amazing schools 2-screened in pool 3-15 minutes or less to beach 4-beach town feel We were often told that number 3 shouldn’t be on the list because we would NEVER go to the beach. We would go once or or twice here and there and get sick of it. Well...We go 5-6 times a week. We live 12 minutes from it and wish we lived closer. So glad we stuck with our list. This is our beach. This is our second home. Today when we walked off the back path to get onto the beach it was like a movie. It was perfect. Dolphins were swimming around close to the shore and out over the water was a beautiful cloud with a rainbow right in the middle surrounded by rain falling all around it. It was breathtaking. Magical really. I wish these photos showed you exactly what I saw today. 🧐Expectations 🏝 To be completely honest the expectations I had for living in FL were definitely different than how it’s been (and that’s totally fine!) Adjusting to a new place, more difficult than expected 🤷♀️ My friendships here, different than expected. 🤨Obviously Covid has clouded this move a bit too. I always think with as many times that I’ve moved it will get easier with age, but it’s kind of the opposite. 🚙 When I took my ROAD TRIP a couple weeks ago, I needed a reset. In many areas of my life. 😎I came back with a REFRESHED outlook on how I was going to approach living here. Then I had one more “set back” where my hormones went out of wack and I cried every day for a solid two weeks straight, just keeping it real. 😎But here I sit again REFRESHING. Remembering that life will EBB AND FLOW (especially in 2020 🤪). That some days I’ll feel on top of the world and others I’ll struggle just to get out of bed. 🤓But always remembering that I have the TOOLS to bring myself back to where I WANT to be and WHY I started this journey and this move to FL in the first place. I’m feeling much more like myself this last week and here are some things that have helped but seemed so much harder to actually DO when I was feeling stuck in my emotions: - TEXT/CALL your friends. The ones that will be and have been there no matter what. It doesn’t matter how many miles away they are - Journal 📓 - Take time for YOURSELF and put down the work - Take yourself out for lunch and dinner, it’s actually quite enjoyable and you’re way more likely to meet others when you’re by yourself - Surround yourself with others in the community even during Covid (what’s worked in the past for me when moving to new places - run groups, swim groups, intramurals, and finding a church) 2020 has been a hard year for many. Let’s not make it harder than it needs to be. Be kind to yourself. And always stay curious.
