A little about how she got her start in the pie world below. ‱ “I first started making pies when I was 12 years old with my Uncle Tyson (chef and owner of local favorite, Tyson’s Tacos). We were in upstate New York and he was attending the Culinary Institute of America (the same school I would attend over a decade later) at Hyde Park. Its fair to say that I became pie-obsessed at an early age and those memories - making pies with my aunt and uncle - always stayed with me. After graduating from CIA at Greystone, I traveled to Paris for a bread festival and some food and language enlightenment, and then returned home to work at amazing establishments like Launderette, Jeffrey’s, Swedish Hill Bakery, and June’s All Day. Fast forward to today, I offer frozen break & bake cookie dough and custom order pies, cakes, pastries, and florals- all featuring local ingredients like @bartonspringsmill flour and @srslychocolate . The jurors later wrote that “her pickles and sauces have a piquancy and flavor seldom equaled, and,⠀ when once tasted, not soon forgotten.”⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ By the end of the Civil War she and her family gained their freedom. In 1877 the Fishers relocated from Mobile to San Francisco where her talents as a cook⠀ and caterer were in high demand by the rich. Her reputation and award winning delicacies enabled the Fishers to open their own⠀ business listed in the San Francisco directories as “Mrs. Abby Fisher & Company” and later as “Mrs. Abby Fisher, Pickle Manufacturer.” Abby Fisher expertly blended African and American cultures by combining the foods and spices from two continents.
