For the past month since the lockdown came into effect, I’ve been helping out @jackson_boxer in the kitchen at @orasay.london, which due to restaurants being forced to close, has now pivoted to become Orasay At Home. We’ve been cooking meals for customers via pick up and delivery, and through partnership with @fuelthefightlondon we’ve also had the amazing opportunity of providing food directly to NHS staff on the front lines at our local hospitals too. Navigating the nuances of what it takes to evolve a bricks and mortar restaurant to a solely takeaway service has been a learning experience for all of us, and although on occasion we have had the gift of some lovely (and often incredibly useful) feedback from some of our customers, one of the notable differences between doing what we’ve been doing and working within a normal restaurant set up has been the absence of the opportunity for customer interaction. To all of a sudden not be able to ask: Well, what do you think? Although we’ve been cooking food that we’re proud of, and putting a lot of effort into making sure everything is as good as it possibly can be, it been quite a daunting experience sending what we’ve been producing out ‘into the unknown’. Generally speaking, reading pretty much anything in the papers these past few weeks hasn’t been a particularly pleasant experience, but waking up this morning to read what @marinagpoloughlin has written about what we’re doing at Orasay was the best feeling in the world, and such a welcome affirmation that we seem to be getting it right. ❤️ - @harrywilkinson on Instagram

South China Morning Post reported, “two containers arrived from Ecuador within 10 days of each other in January, but the huge haul was only discovered when customs officers opened the containers at their Kwai Chung cargo examination compound on April 28 and May 4.” Aside from the two Ecuador consignments, customs officers this year had already seized 15 tonnes of shark fins worth HK$5.4 million and made two arrests. In this fight against the Corona Virus, several institutes are trying their level best to develop a vaccine and are coming up with ways to combat this virus in the most effective way possible. The School of Biomedical Engineering of IIT-BHU took on a similar initiative to help the doctors and medical staff working in hospitals, and have successfully developed a 5M mask. This mask was developed by Associate Professor Dr Marshal along with PhD student Juhi Jaiswal after 4 long months of research. This mask has 5 layers and has a few advantages over the N- 95 mask. The main purpose of this mask is to annihilate pathogenic micro- organisms that stick to the outer surface the mask and limit the risk of secondary infections. To counteract the microbes that stick to the surface, the mask is stacked with different layers of nanometal conjugated with protonated amine matrix. The added benefits of this mask include the capability of degradation of cellular RNA on its outer surface, disposal respirator and anti-microbial coatings on its outer surface which makes them safer while handling as well as easily and safely disposable, hydrophobic surface on outer layer to deflect water droplet containing the viruses. This mask is comfortable with improved sweat absorbance, lightweight, provides hygienic respiratory protection from dust and mists. As of now, the mask is being produced only for doctors and hospital staff, but the department has requested the institute for the opening of a start up company which would facilitate the commercial production of these masks and then be retailed for Rs.100/- only. The end of the Government’s furlough scheme means even more renters are now at risk of pay cuts or losing their job. If Berlin can freeze rents for five years, there’s no reason London shouldn’t be able to freeze rents for two years in these extraordinary times. We don’t have an operational vaccine. That means the economic fallout of this pandemic could continue for months into the future. I became a photographer because it was the only way I found to show the beauty I see in people. However since this crisis started I have become more aware that the true responsibility of our craft is to document life and portray the times that we’re living in. I went on a day exploration of New York with only my iphone one day after the lockdown started. This is one of the scenes I found, everything seemed to be placed for me to see the profound devastation of the poor and forgotten human lives who have been screaming for help, long before Covid. Akua Wood, founder of Sheabutter Cottage from Reading, has also donated 1,000 masks to Ghana during lockdown. She was selected from thousands of applicants to take part in #SheCan365, which told the stories of 365 female entrepreneurs over 365 consecutive days in exactly 365 words. The #SheCan365 project began when multi-award-winning online marketing specialist Helen Pritchard challenged former journalists Michelle and Christian Ewen to publish a new, inspiring story online every day for an entire year. Akua Wood, Founder of Sheabutter Cottage said: Out of all the female entrepreneurs in the UK, I am honoured to have been chosen to be included in the #SheCan365 project, which is a world first I hope telling my story will inspire all future female entrepreneurs – empowering them for success. Jumlah pasien yg meninggal ada 78 orang sedangkan pasien yg sembuh menjadi 35 orang. Dengan semakin meningkatnya kasus corona, banyak oknum-oknum yg tidak bertanggung jawab memanfaatkan kesempatan ini dgn cara menimbun masker dan hand sanitizer lalu di jual lagi dengan harga yg tinggi. Misalnya harga satu box masker yang berisi 50 dijual dgn harga Rp300.000. Padahal, harga normalnya hanya Rp20.000 per box. Bagi kita yang mampu mungkin hal ini bukan lah suatu masalah, namun di sisi lain masih banyak masyarakat kecil yg ekonominya pas-pasan kesulitan mendapatkan masker maupun hand sanitizer. Untuk itu, pemerintah membuat peraturan bagi oknum yang tertangkap tangan menjual masker atau hand sanitizer dengan harga yang tinggi, maka oknum tersebut akan menadapatkan hukuman berupa 5 tahun penjara.
