Over the last couple of months, we’ve gone back-and-forth between 20+ creatives (models, make-up artists etc) and their talent agency, TFM. Mumbai-based agency, TFM allegedly owes them lakhs of rupees in unpaid dues. Multiple rounds of clarifications later the fact remains unchanged: Money is still owed! The bitter industry truth is that modelling/talent agencies are notorious for withholding money and TFM has been pulling this stunt since 2018 (shocking!). The models have finally had it and are no longer willing to wait for their own money. TFM agents did give us multiple reasons/explanations for the delay citing Covid economy, breach of contract, models misbehaving etc etc. Most of these explanations seem to be just excuses to buy time. Moral of the story? It’s a messy, and incredibly heartbreaking situation for these creatives, who are dependent on agencies for their livelihood. As soon as I saw the headline about Machine Gun Kelly it caught my eye as @daniellaveras and I have been talking about this particular topic in the last days. My first reaction was -obvi- to check his chart. What is up in this man’s chart to be suddenly awoken to love? My first reaction was to be completely shocked - He’s a Pisces Mars, Venus, Moon, Pisces being the sign of unconditional love and openness to love, how could it be that he just felt love at 29 years old? Upon closer examination though, Machine Gun Kelly has Uranus, Neptune, Saturn in the 8th house - Scorpio territory, the house of intimacy, vulnerability, and joint life. The 8th house is what keeps you away or attracted to intimacy and vulnerability. With his Saturn at 25 degrees of Capricorn, he has been going through his Saturn return - exact now!- effectively helping him unleash the lessons of his natal Saturn. My neighbor listens to Rush Limbaugh and Jerry Adler on the radio, and always cranks it with the door open. You can imagine that with me being at very stark odds with those ideologies, its not very comfortable to say the least. They talk about how people like me should be either dead or in prison, because I want freedom and healthcare. Today I bumped into him on my way out to get composted dirt for my garden and promised to bring some back for his lemon tree. When I brought it back I filled the pot for him while he was out, and later found a little ziplock bag of homegrown weed stuck in my gate in a neat package. I was extremely confused until he stepped outside and asked me if I got his thank you gift, and went on about how he felt a little inspired to start a garden too. Interactions like these with my fascist sympathetic, ex addict, disadvantaged, white working class boomer neighbor, remind me how mundanely revolutionary a single simple act of mutual aid is. How small neighborly acts like these foster a community that transcends the political spectrum and dissolve the fear that has been instilled in him of the real me. A million small grains of sand create a whole sandy beach. The future looks bleak, its hard to trust, and its hard to fight on top of survive. Yesterday I met an inspiring woman who asked me to produce a portrait film about her. She lives here in Mallorca and helps people with spiritual guidance. We sat in a charming restaurant by the water to talk about the project. Our table was situated in the shadow and we had the perfect soft breeze. It felt very peaceful and natural. Almost perfect. We talked about our lives. Her 18 year old son is a very talented artist. When hes asked wether he is a painter, his usually response is this: „I express how I feel with art and this can be a painting, a photograph, a text or a sculpture....“ I really like this. We often define who we are to soon to have other people put us in a box. I am not a photographer. I feel this, it fulfils me deeply but I am not that. I express myself through this channel right now.
