this is my dog rufio...yesterday he turned 10 yrs old...i got him when he was 6 weeks old...he’s lived with me in upstate NY, chicago, LA & has driven round the country with me...a lot has changed in my life over the last 10 years but Rufio has been one of the few true constants...a few months ago his fur was thinning, he didn’t want to go on long walks & i noticed some lumps growing in his stomach...after some very stressful weeks, going back and forth to the vet multiple times, they diagnosed him with cushings disease...he started medication about 4-5 weeks ago and he is now doing great; thicker coat, more energy(see shirt vid of him playing fetch) & the lumps are shrinking...and although i dnt give him table scraps anymore, we broke the rule and cooked him a ribeye steak last night(see the video of him devouring 1/2 of it in 15 seconds)...anyways, the world is crazy and a lot of doom and gloom has descended upon many of us...here is my silver lining and constant mood booster...i love this dog like no other so everybody wish Rufio a very happy 10th birthday & have a BANGARANG day 🎉 🎉 🥩 - @theebriceisrite on Instagram

As he was unable to respond to verbal cues, our dedicated staff put together a personalised plan and worked relentlessly, to help him keep that energy under control. Thank you for all of the support for our little Cheese puppies as they get treated for the parvo virus. They are all being closely watched and receiving ongoing medical care. One of the 12, Asiago, was moved to ICU this morning because she wasn’t able to eat or drink anything. We are continuing to closely monitor the other 11. Between them they have varying levels of energy and motivation to eat. They are all receiving medications to help settle their stomachs and IV fluids as needed. We are already seeing the impact of the parvo virus on the pups. Some are loosing their appetites and having some GI distress. They will receive IV hydration as well as medications to help them with any of their tummy troubles. We have a great team of volunteers with medical backgrounds to help care for them but have a low threshold for moving them to be hospitalized for closer monitoring. This next boy’s story is so upsetting and so sad that we’ve actually postponed sharing him with all of you because we weren’t sure if he was going to make it. Prior to posting him, we had a biopsy done on his mouth to make sure it wasn’t cancer we were dealing with. Because to be honest, we’ve never seen anything quite like this. This darling boy has a baseball sized growth on his lower jaw. He’s been living with it for at least two years. And the pain it’s causing him is absolutely unimaginable....💔💔💔 ---- We’ll start at the beginning, or at least what we know to be his beginning. A few months ago, we were contacted by two different women who were looking after this dog. They claimed he was a stray that they found, but then it came out later that the dog was abandoned at their grooming facility by a worker that they had hired off of Craigslist. They kept him outside 24/7 and had been trying to rehome him, but nobody wanted to adopt a dog with a huge growth on his mouth. So they began reaching out to rescues. By the time they contacted us, they’d had the dog for nearly two years. TWO YEARS. His photos haunted us, but we also had to be sure to follow owner surrender protocols. After all, what if we took him into our rescue, paid to fix him up, and the monster who abandoned him like this showed up to reclaim him??? We would have been in for a huge legal battle if the original owner stepped forward. ---- So we told them to surrender him to the local shelter (where we knew the vet), and that once he was processed and cleared to be pulled by a rescue, we would pull him. So that’s exactly what they did. And when we reached out to the shelter staff, they were grateful that we would be taking him, but livid with the condition that he was in. He was beyond emaciated. He was so skinny that even once they’d “fattened him up” after a few weeks, he was still incredibly underweight. And that wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was his lump.... ---- His lump constantly leaked. It bled anytime it touched anything. He winced and screamed if he bumped it on anything. He was in so much pain he hardly ate. Grant is a quieter guy who may seem unassuming at first, but is a delight waiting to be discovered. In the play yard is where he really shines - the rather serious-seeming fellow will become silly and playful after he bounds after tennis balls. At around 6 years old, Grant is in his middle years and past that pesky puppy stage. He seems to know to do his business outside, and also seems like he would be okay with some daily activity (but would also be happy to hang out and do his own thing). Welpen beim Züchter im Ausland kaufen. Als ich mich für einen weiteren Hund entschied, wusste ich recht schnell das ich bei einem Züchter im Ausland lande. Die einzigen Corso Züchter in DE die ich gut fand hatten entweder keinen Wurf mehr geplant oder hatten volle Wartelisten. Also sah ich mir Züchter im Ausland an, von Polen bis Rumänien. Ich stieß nicht wirklich auf einen Züchter, der mir gefiel und alles mitbrachte was ich wollte. Dann kam Holger auf die Idee einfach mal die Züchterin von Luzifer zu fragen. Zu ihr haben wir beide sehr guten Kontakt und Holger hat sie ja auch persönlich kennengelernt. Ana Maria leitete uns sofort zu Eva und bei ihr hatte ich sofort ein gutes Gefühl. Ein freundlicher Umgang, alle Fragen wurden beantwortet, es folgten direkt Bilder und Informationen von den Elterntieren des nächsten Wurfes. Dadurch das Ana Maria Holger persönlich kennt, fiel schon einiges weg. Eva vertraute Luzifers Züchterin und so haben wir sehr schnell die Zusage bekommen, dass wir einen Welpen kriegen würden. Die Freude war riesig. Wir hätten Eva vor Ort besuchen können, verzichteten aber aus Vertrauen darauf. Ich beschrieb Eva also, wie der Hund sein sollte den wir suchen und äußerte auch den Wunsch der grauen Fellfarbe und das es ein Rüde sein muss. Wir wurden während der Trächtigkeit immer auf dem laufen gehalten und auch während der Geburt der Welpen. Wir bekamen regelmäßig Bilder und Videos, hatten wir Fragen bekamen wir immer Antworten und schon bald konnte Eva eingrenzen, welche Welpen sich eignen würden bis letztendlich fest stand, dass es herr blau sein wird. Ich bin ganz ausgeflippt vor Freude, immerhin war er mein kleiner Favorit ;) ich habe in keiner Sekunde an Evas Einschätzung gezweifelt, genauso wenig an der Aufzucht der Welpen. Von Anfang an bis jetzt habe ich ein gutes Gefühl bei ihr. Ohne dieses Vertrauen hätte ich niemals einen Welpen aus dieser Zucht genommen, das sollte aber klar sein. Natürlich kauft man sich da einen Hund, den man nicht kennt, aber ich würde trotzdem nicht behaupten, dass es wie der Kauf im Katalog ist. It’s #TooManyDogsTuesday! 🤦🏽♀️ . . What a crazy few days it’s been! I was waiting for Labor Day to pass so I could finish some photo shoots I had planned around Oregon, waiting for crowds to lessen. Then Oregon was struck with historically devastating fires for several days, making the air quality hazardous for over a week. So I pivoted and headed back to San Diego. . . I arrived Thursday night, and Friday morning I got a call from a shelter in Vegas saying they had impounded a Boxer that was microchipped to me from 2013. . . Turned out my friend Dave passed away, and his Boxers (three of them) were impounded. I scrambled with his family to help get them out over the weekend, and now they are all safe in San Diego! . . The oldest one is staying with the family and the two younger ones are with me ....for now! 🤪 . . Buzz is a white deaf Boxer, approx 7 going on 8; and Star is a brindle/white Boxer, appropriately 9 going on 10. They are both very sweet. 🐶 💕🙌🏼 TRIFECTA WELCOME 🙌🏼💕🐶 Each if these dogs landed at an area animal control due to no fault if their own, and kept getting overlooked for some reason or another. But not by us, we had been searching for foster families for these babes for a couple of months. Each time we struck out we’d feel defeated that they’d have to spend another day in a cage. We knew how amazing each of these dogs were and we wanted others to have the opportunity to see it too. Our interaction team took another group of fosters to meet the trio and we were so hopeful that this was the miracle we were wishing for. Guess what? Dreams do come true!
