The inspiration for this came straight out of @ottolenghi new flavour cookbook. I usually use sugar snap peas an addition to any dish, without giving it much thought- but grilled with some lemon, takes it to a whole new level. Greek yoghurt with saffron oil, crispy onion and garlic, dried barberries and grilled sugar snap peas dressed with lemon, olive oil, salt and pepper. Topped with pine nuts and chives. I mopped the plate. Whole orange syrup cake. This is one of my favourite citrus cakes where the flavours of the fruit shine through. It has those sharp citrusy notes because one it has got the whole oranges in it (yes the whole fruit with pith and peel) and two it is drenched in orange syrup. Super moist too! All it needs is a dollop of fresh whipped cream. . Here in this picture, I tried to apply some of the knowledge which @kulsumkunwa shared in her recent posts about the backlight and how it accentuates the highlights. Black History Month: BAKERY PIONEER JOSEPH LEE - Want to hear about someone who was literally making the best things since sliced bread? As an American bakery, let’s start with an African American baking hero. Food pioneer Joseph Lee (born in 1849) was an inventor and entrepreneur in Boston and he was successful as a catering business and hotel owner. The son of slaves, he grew up working in a bakery. Troubled by the bread being wasted in his kitchens, he invented a machine that made breadcrumbs which was sold around the world. It dramatically reduced the number of people needed in the kitchen by 75%. He then went on to make a bread making machine that could knead dough.
