Breonna Taylor, was a 26-year-old African-American emergency medical technician, who was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers on March 13, 2020. Three plainclothes LMPD officers executing a no-knock search warrant entered her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky. Gunfire was exchanged between Taylors boyfriend Kenneth Walker and the officers. Walker said he believed that the officers were intruders. According to Breonnas boydfriend, the police officers did not make themselves aware to the couple. The LMPD officers fired over twenty shots. Hi! This year is shit but some good things happened. I got to co-write the two part season finale episodes of Yolo: Crystal Fantasy with @michaelrcusack. It was incredibly fun to write at odd hours of the night and we came up with some quirky characters, including my personal fav, Ethel the naked pottery lady which you can see in the topical. (Runner up is Daddy Termite Mountain but you’ll have to watch the ep to see him.) Thanks for the opportunity and for dealing with my shitty internet Michael! At work-work, I also got to make the trailer, promos, and custom spot for the show. Included a few topicals so you can (kinda?) see what our eps are about. PLEASE READ : When @sineadsoffe and her husband Liam wrote and introduced me to their daughter Elizabeth, I knew instantly that this phenomenal 6 year old and her journey so far needed to be documented and shared in the Scars Portrait series. PLEASE READ PART 1 - SINEAD & LIAM’S WORDS : At six months old Elizabeth’s cot caught fire from a faulty air conditioning unit. Her injuries destroyed her tiny body causing her to lose fingers, most of her skin, her hair, her left ear, her nose. But out of this horrific event grew a new child. A child who greets every day with enthusiasm. A child who is determined and positive and wise. A child who says “It doesn’t matter what you look like, it only matters that you’re kind...” To meet her is to love her. Each moment reminds you that what truly matters is what’s inside. Elizabeth feels sorry for people who stare at her and say nasty things to her, they have not yet learned what’s most important. She decides to wear a wig based on what she feels like, not what others think. She refuses help and pity and sympathy, but gives smiles and hugs and wisdom. There is something positive in every tragedy, a dawn for every night, and a phoenix from every fire.
