How many times has a relative kissed the cheek of your food allergy child or touched their arm after theyve eaten and hives show up? Before we were impacted by food allergies we freely ate all the foods we desired. As we became aware of Lexis allergies we eliminated those foods from our diet when were with her. When my kids nail my exact feelings to the first day of school 🤣🤣🤣 . So how’d it go? Technology failed. A lot. First thing 6 yr old learned was how to unmute on team calls to talk about farts. A lot of whining about not getting to watch tv and redirecting during class when not allowed to talk. Grandma brought her dog who barked incessantly at the kitten and then ate blue paint when we weren’t looking. I had an unusually high amount of new work consults that just had to be taken care of right away. And that was all before 10am 🙈 . Surprisingly, this went a heck of a lot better than I expected. They started their journey on 20th June this year (2020) and have covered thirteen states already. She is very grateful for her partner John who makes it a fun experience! #NotAClient I have never been passionate about water bottles until I bought my first @iceshakerbottle bottle. And I never knew I could HAVE so much passion for a water bottle!!! 🤯 I am sharing my obsession with Ice Shaker water bottles 🎯 I am lucky enough to have been gifted water bottles at events or weddings or workout classes over the years. I never really cared or paid attention. I always want to use water bottles because of the negative impacts of plastic on the environment, but that was the extent of my commitment. 🌎 A few months ago I was lucky enough to speak at Harvard Business School (like how i dropped that in?😜) right before the Ice Shaker founders, who happen to be the magnetic Gronkowski family @gronk @chrisgronkowski @gordiegronk @dangronkowski @glenn_gronkowski They had pitched the business on @sharktankabc and gotten some investors and are also a great example of an athlete founded brand based around unmet need and authenticity. I had a nice chat with the guys and thought I would support the business by purchasing one. It sounded great, but again, I just dont really care that much to be SOLD a water bottle. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Well... game changed! 👊🏻 I have now bought 5️⃣ water bottles and told EVERYONE I know about them. Confession corner. You know what my first thought was when I saw this picture? Wow, good angle sister photographer, my legs look so skinny. Not... wow what a precious moment with the best two humans I know. Not, what a sweet memory or what a gorgeous lake home or look at those red boots! And I HATE that. And if it had been from a less flattering angle, I’m sure I still would have noticed my legs first. I hate how much I care. I hate how much I notice. I hate how many years I’ve spent complimenting other people’s bodies for their thinness and not for their strength, their energy, their beauty or their grace. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I’ve been in a good season. Time and energy for lots of whole foods and working out. I love that, and I hate it. Because it’s a season. And when the season changes, and I can’t or don’t want to work out daily and my meal planning isn’t a top priority, I will be bigger. And I will somehow be very tempted to believe that that makes me a smaller or less worthy human. And I absolutely hate that. I think that’s all I’m here to say. Don’t get it twisted- I’m so proud of myself for how strong I am right now and for the energy I have to keep up with these kids. And you know I’m going to keep posting selfies because that pride is legit! I hope you take pride in your health and wellness successes, whatever they look like for you. And I hope you’ll support me just as much when I post those pictures in a new season, where perhaps I am bigger or smaller. It’s not the pride I hate. It’s the attachment to weight, to numbers, to comparisons and to sizes that I’m trying to do away with. So hold me to that. Let’s stop complimenting each other more when we’re thin and less when we’re not. Let’s stop believing that how our legs look in pictures is some weird reflection of our overall health or our abilities or our humanity, and let’s embrace the season we’re in, however that translates. We have been finding some great ways to get out and practice this summer! Last month we had our first in person training on patient assessment at the hall. Taking advantage of our big garage doors to ensure lots of open air and spacing for the session. Our long time member and manager Randy led a great session! Last night a group of our rad SAR ladies went through personal fitness baseline training with Kat from Endless Fitness. She led us through testing in small groups and we had some compass and pacing exercises to keep the group busy in between. Well just be over here ugly crying... 😭😍 HAMLET HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 😍😭 We are BEYOND thrilled to share that our precious boy, Hamlet, has found his forever home!!! If you dont remember, Hamlet had a horrifically rough start to life. He was likely a former pet who was abandoned by his owners and--as if that werent enough--he was hit by a car while living on the streets and sustained injuries that left him with urinary and fecal incontinence. 💔 Fortunately, Hamlets luck changed when he was rescued by Karin of Paradise Rescue. In a joint effort between Paradise Rescue and Punta Santiago Dogs--and with the help of Leiticia (transport), Ivy and Joey (adoption coordination)--Hamlet made his way to his foster home in the States. We cant lie and say that Hamlets journey has been an easy one. We were fortunate to have someone from Facebook volunteer to boost our post. But as the numbers climbed to over 15,000 (yes, fifteen THOUSAND) people reached, the only adoption applications we received were from people who hadnt read the part about his needs and were unwilling to move forward upon learning of those needs. We just needed one person to give Hamlet the chance. Rob and Stacey decided to foster Hamlet knowing that he had so much love to give and were willing to provide care for his special needs. After Hamlet won over their hearts, Rob surprised Stacey for her birthday by making Hamlet a permanent member of their family. 🥰 Now, Hamlet has an entire family to love him endlessly for the rest of his life. A personal silver lining from Covid19 has been the blessing of redeeming what was temporarily lost for 3 family weddings. Two displaced couples from closed venues married here in April and I can not even describe the joy of sharing our outdoors for such a meaningful experience. Today I recommit to myself. This is hugely important. As a mom and wife I constantly find myself putting me last. I get everything else done for my family first leaving myself the last ten minutes of the day when I’m exhausted to do my work. My body is suffering postpartum. Two weeks ago I threw my neck out really badly and therefore my PT exercises for my prolapse and diastasis recti have been completely neglected. I am feeling it. As of today that changes. Every morning I intend on starting the day with a quick journal of my daily intention, goal and gratitude. This small acts gets my mind clear and is a task I can do with a wild toddler awake. I woke up a little earlier today to accomplish my journaling while both kids were still asleep and Mike is at work. I love my family but taking care of myself has to come first. Here’s to a great first day. 👊🏼 Now I’m going to drink my coffee and do some PT exercises. ☕️ If you’re a mama and struggling to take care of yourself mentally or physically know you aren’t alone. @michelelovetri: Toddler breaks are now a thing in my house because at certain points there is just zero reasoning with them. Continually having to explain why it’s not ok to stick your toe in your brother’s butt or why it’s not ok to out of the blue shove your brother into a wall can be exhausting especially when you get to the defiance stage. We do the old school counting to three and typically at “2” Landyn knows it’s time to back off. But Logan!? He starts counting with us and mimicking us. Most of the time we are trying not to hysterically laugh and for a second I wonder if my mother had this problem as well. But we try and not overuse the word “no,” so instead we give them breaks and explain to them why what they have done either hurt someone else or is not kind. Truth be told there are so many times where I want to yell, where I want to scream and where I want to just throw my hands up and run, but at the end of it all we have a job to do. We feel our job as their parents is not to raise the kid that comes out with a 4.0, or is the All-American athlete (although all great things). We want to raise the kids that stand up and do the right thing, that have kind and giving hearts, that are inclusive and respectful of all, kids that will reach out their hand to help another even if it’s someone they don’t know, and kids that know the joy of success but can still persevere thru defeat. Raising them to be good humans is so tough and most of the time with toddlers you never know what you’re going to get which just makes this job that much more of a challenge but we do the best we can each day. I think they understand more than we give them credit for so I’m certain if we just stay on this road good things will come as a result. But it’s definitely not easy!!! Happy Birthday Frankie, and Bon voyage Grace! . Seems like just a few weeks ago I was in a cafe in Nice with these two celebrating Carnaval, and enjoying pre-parade petit dejeuner. (How we didn’t get sick traveling for Mardi Gras mid Feb is a miracle.) . Today, Frankie goes to 11, and Grace goes home to New Orleans. Yes, seeing her in her packed car, GPS set due south brought me to tears, but I can’t blame her for wanting to be where she grew up. I asked her almost 4 years ago to come up to help me open @antique_bar_bakery and I was lucky enough to have her stay all this time.
