There is no greater or meaningful title and role in my life as “Father”. Today we honor all Fathers past and present. My Dad has always been my most important mentor and role model in my life. He lost his Father in the internment camps after WW11 in California where he spent part of his childhood. I strive to live by his Buddhist values of kindness, love, compassion, work ethic and thriftiness. At 88, he still works harder than I do and gets more accomplished. Oh how sweet an #undisturbedbirth is!! This first time mom spent the first 18 hours of early labor in the comfort of her home. Her water released as she walked into the hospital, where she used the tub and shower to help her relax as she rode each powerful wave of labor. After just a couple hours at the hospital, she began to push instinctively, needing no direction or guidance. The tiny beads of sweat on her lip were the only indication of how hard she was working to bring her baby earthside. Very soon, she received a slippery 8 pound baby girl on her chest, the cord left to pulse rich oxygenated blood as these new parents marveled at their amazing little creation. 10 years ago today I turned around on the dance floor of an electronic music festival in Hilo, Hawaii - and there he was, standing in front of me. Smiling with kindness. 💃🏻🕺🏼 Those mesmerizing blue eyes and blonde surfer hair…🤩 I felt our souls connect and to be honest the force was so damn strong I honestly didn’t have a choice in the matter. Also, I may have enhanced my experience if ya know what I mean… ;)😎 He spun me, I spun him, we started kissing and that was that. 💋💋 I’ve never been in a relationship with a romantic partner this long, and it absolutely feels like a milestone. Through challenges we’ve made a lot of progress in our relationship. None of it has been ‘easy’. And yet there is still so much more progress to be made. (By progress I mean learning and undoing and opening to love). There always will be more work to do… I used to say that he’s the man of my dreams, but with the passing of time I’ve learned that that kind of label is the stuff of fairy tales. Now I say he’s a beautiful man. That’s how I choose to see him. Even when I’m upset with him he remains for me a beautiful man. There have been times when I wasn’t sure we’d make it, and there could very well be times like that in the future too…💫 But since all we have is NOW…I’m continually grateful to be spending it on adventures with @thekennybaby, an incredibly talented man who wins at all sports it’s annoying (seriously, ask anyone)🏀🏈🏓🏂🏄🏽‍♂️🎯🥇, and who is also really good at math, drinking beer, honoring private conversations, eating cereal, maintaining friendships that date waaaay back to high school, patiently supporting me in all my creative endeavors...🤪, and waking me up at 4am to rush to the surf so he can be the first one in the water. So... my 2020 world journey has taken a detour. Right now I was suppose to be in Amsterdam celebrating Kings Day for my birthday, but as life would have it, not all things go as planned. Instead, I am locked down in the Moustache Hostel, in the middle of Rishikesh India, with about 30 people from 15 different countries that I have barely known for a month, all from very different walks of life, which makes this experience a very unique one. Throughout this whole lockdown we have gotten to know each other very well. We do yoga and meditation almost everyday, cook and eat together and are constantly in search of new creative ways to spend our time. We have laughed a lot, fought at certain times, maybe cried when we miss home and shared our knowledge and stories with one another to pass the time. Regardless of what it is that we do, we do it together. I am excited to celebrate my birthday here with my little family, My Quarantine Family ♥️ They are truly a blessing in such times of uncertainty. Looking forward to having an absolutely amazing day with you all! With that being said, I DO MISS HOME! I miss my family and my friends. I am hoping that everyone stays healthy and safe during the lockdown. I look forward to returning home and telling you all about the stories I have. I must admit, I have had a couple of instances where I could have left this place but I chose not to. Leaving didn’t feel right. I don’t think I have been stuck here by chance. My intuition tells me to stay. So the journey goes on, even though I may not be moving very far or very fast. I may not be hang gliding through Switzerland, sipping wine in front of the Eiffel Tower or Running from the bulls in Spain, but I am definitely experiencing something that is pushing my boundaries and making me think. But if you aren’t trying, you aren’t on my level. The mental stress I go through. The physical stress my body goes through. It’s not something you can just quit. It was my best bday to date . Why look at this picture this was my 44th dinner party last night . In 26 years of my life this is the first time every went without any alcohol or partying till the next mornings and wasting my next couple days to recover. Why was my Covid19 bday party the best ? This is Cha, a 24 year-old HMong girl who was my trekking guide in #sapavietnam. I spent two days with Cha and her family in their modest wooden house. There is no signal in their house, so in the evening, when the others fell asleep, Cha and I would go to a field near her house to catch the signal in complete darkness. During our trek I fell several times in the mud, washed dirty clothes in the waterfall, got a severe sunburn, dropped my cell phone into the rice field, but it made it all even more exciting and memorable.😅 I guess the best part of this experience was disconnecting from the everyday life and reconnecting with nature. Nature is truly healing and made me even more grateful for everything I have, for the opportunity to even be in such a beautiful place. 🙂 - @wandering_tea89 on Instagram

One of my favourite quotes is... ‘I use memories, but I don’t allow memories to use me.’ When I reflect upon the fact that 12 months ago I started the game of Survivor for a second time on Allstars I have a smile on my face. 😊 And as hard as it was to leave my family behind, for a second time, I am so incredibly grateful for the whole experience. Twice over. Survivor shifted my perception on things, and highlighted what is truely important in life, but also emphasised the importance of true relationships. It brought me some of the most beautiful, richest new friendships (you guys know who you are❤️) and the constant awareness to be grateful for every day, every kiss, hug, phone call with a friend, laugh, cry, pain, relief, meal, shelter, sunshine, rain, nature, family, the truth, and being present to feel it all. We lost a legendary World Champion Hoop Dancer, Nakotah LaRance. I always see similarities among the other hoop dancers, with Nakotah we were about the same age and he also taught a lot of kids much like me. His creativity is what always blew my mind. 2nd slide: Nakotah always starts his routine out by doing a 1 hoop spin and Ive loved it so much Ive done the same ever since I first saw him dance. Showing that influence by him on me. 3rd slide: In 2015 I made a video showing wildly creative moves and you can see a lot of them were Nakotah inspired. Ive a huge love for creative moves and being inspired by other Hoop Dancers. His moves helped me grow a lot in thinking outside of the box. Ive learned and looked up to a lot of Hoop Dancers. Each effecting me in one way or another. Nakotah inspired and still inspires me creatively. I remember one year he didnt make it to the finals at the Hoop Comp and I went up to him saying Im sure he had new moves saved for it but never got to do them. He instantly was like You want to see them?! I can teach you them! But I was like No youve got to save these! Dont show them off! These will give you the edge next year but he was more than happy to share and out of respect I told him I wouldnt copy them but he was persistent saying learn from me and be more creative. This post is about being happy and how important it is to have a supportive partner. . . 5 years ago I got married to my college friend after 8 years of dating However it wasnt an easy peasy walk through. We belonged to very different families. Will point down how he changed and accomodated to be supportive 1. Workout is important for us cysters. From being someone who cared only about his run and his timing, its now more about working out together. It was difficult for him because he is a runner and is more of a cardio person running 10km casually around bangalore streets. We now push each other on lazy days. 2. He is a big time foodie who loves his bao, batura, white luchi. Though now I am mature and dont even feel like having maida. It wasnt the same 5 years ago. So the guy gave up eating maida in front of me 🙂 3. He was always interested in all the wrong kinds of food and god gifted enough to burn it all with amazing cholestrol levels. Now he loves trying the new gluten free recipes i make. Oats Cakes to zuchini noodles, he tries it all. Continues only if he likes. 4. I remember when i watched PCOS fitness channels on youtube he used to get annoyed. Now he sits with me to understand why supplements might be needed. 5. From never entering the kitchen to making amazing chicken and mutton and daily preparing my smoothie for the last 4m. 6. Finally from a person who made me to hug someone who was full of negativity for me, to someone who lets me cut off from any negative influence. . I know being husband to a crazy PCOS girl is difficult but Support and happiness is very important and thats what helped me get pregnant. . If you are not lucky enough to get it please demand it. . Life is so precious. So beautiful. Every breath, every tear, every laughter is a memory to hold on to. It’s filled with moments of unimaginable joy and celebration and moments of heartache and pain. My grandpa went home to be with the Lord after 91 beautiful years on this earth. It’s been a hard few days and weeks especially during this time of not being able to see family and come together to celebrate his life. What I’m most certain of, is that because of Jesus’ resurrection, I am confident that I will see him again. That we who are in Him, aren’t to ever fear death but to rejoice in VICTORY because He has defeated it on the cross. Now more than ever, Easter means so much more. Loss has a way of crippling you, making you feel a void within, grasping sorrow too deep for words... but I know it is only temporary. My hope came when the stone was rolled away and His resurrected life proclaimed and DECLARED newness in us. Jesus, thank You for your blood that was shed. Jesus, thank You for your body that was broken. Jesus, thank You for every breath I take. Jesus, thank You for my life and this life I get to live with You. I dont ask for much but Im asking with all my heart for this - that my mother be protected and supported with love as I continue the biggest transition of my life, without her. Shes been living with us almost exclusively since Cairo was born two and a half years ago and its been rough... rougher than rough, its taken my beloved Davana and I past our limit. She has singlehandedly plunged us into the darkest pits of despair and it has felt hopeless at times. If it wasnt for our fam and soulfam I dont know how we would have been able to stay positive. I own my failures in not seeking extra support in the beginning, I was naive to believe it would all work itself out so long as I kept going but Ive been humbled. Having denied it, avoided it, displaced it it feels good to finally come to a place of clarity and acceptance of my responsibility for her care. Part of that is having healthy boundaries with her and holding the truth that I can no longer sacrifice mine and my familys well being by having her live in the same home as us. I know other families have been able to successfully care for their parents with dementia and have found it very fulfilling, but its just not my case. My mother is carrying a lifetime of unprocessed trauma and as her memory continues to fade, so to does her capacity to hold it in. As such I can no longer allow her to project her pain and her fears upon Davana, who has been so good to her. I broke down in tears more than a few times in her inability to receive all the love Davana was giving her. It was so sad to see that she simply couldnt receive it. Yet, we harbor no ill will towards her and rather than resentment for the extra pain shes put our family through, I feel gratitude for the lessons and to know I must take a new approach to caring for her moving forward. Shes in Las Vegas right now near my sister, and is in good spirits. We had a great conversation earlier and she expressed her love for us and I felt it. She misses Cairo but said she doesnt want to be a barrier to us fulfilling our dreams. I let her know she wasnt and that once we find our home and settle in Ill find a place for her not too far. My heart is so full when we can all take the time out of our crazy lives to get together for family time. This crew has put in a lot of time and talent helping to get Daniel and Tayla ready for Elijah. Kaihiki Bay // The Bach - Our favourite place on earth ✨ my family have been coming here since my parents got married 36 years ago, then built that little white Bach behind us when I was just a baby. If you’ve been to the bach you know how beautiful it is and the special feeling you get when being there! My dad has always said “when I die, bury me at the Bach!” and I’ve always thought I would be buried there too. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would be burying our baby there first, but when Fox passed away, there was no question that he would be going to the Bach. There’s a little cemetery right on the beach looking out to the bay with the most beautiful view. How we feel about Hawaii’s 14 day quarantine being extended. 🦋⚡️ I know it’s been a HARD time financially, and many people are struggling to figure out how they are going to make it through. Many families are holding their breath, because our tourism industry has been SHUT DOWN. Seriously the main artery to Hawaii’s economy has been cut. It’s been terrifying for so many. There’s a lot of unknown factors. But, if you have your health, your loved ones, these islands, these are things to be thankful for. I hope everyone is using this time to connect with family and nature. I also implore people to move away from a tourism based economy. It’s not easy I know, but if this has taught us anything it’s that the only people we can rely on is each other. What are some ways for Hawaii to be more self sufficient? I took some time to reflect on my life and not so much what I have done or accomplished, instead contemplated on the things I have that I did not necessarily earn but have been graciously given. • I reflected on the depth and breath of the relationships, the unique experiences that I’ve lived - both beautiful and adverse, the journey towards personal growth, the love I have given and graciosuly received, and the faith that has become the cornerstone of my life. • My Life at 40 is far from perfect; yet it is complete. Everyone who has come into my ife and taught me, challenged me, encouraged me, supported me, befriended me, and loved me…THANK YOU. Happy birthday Andrew, love of my life and father of our children. I love you so very much and these days are especially sweet. We’ve had our share of easy times and harder times evolving and becoming who we are over the last 17 years since high school, and I couldn’t be more thankful for where we’ve ended up. You’d think after four kids and lots of overtime work with our business that we might be at each other’s throats by now but truth is we’ve become closer, more connected, and deeper in love these last couple years. There were times in the past when we were drained, arguing was routine, and we were just not vibing at all. And ups and downs are inevitable in any relationship so we aren’t done yet. But ‘commitment and ‘loyalty’ is our middle name. It takes consistent effort, learning, and selflessness in our daily lives to make passionately showing each other love a routine occurrence. I think the most important factor for us is being willing to reflect on one’s self when the going gets tough to see where we can improve and make changes instead of pointing the finger and blaming the other for the strife. Once we do that, and shift where needed, alllll areas of our relationship improve. I feel more in love with Andrew now than I did in those first few years of dating when the positive emotions are supposedly at its highest. I love you so deeply babe. Lessons from Jeju was a pinch yourself, connect, work with your friends, eat as much as you possibly can, be personal, have the opportunity to create, work with amazing partners kind of project.
