Looking back to some of the amazing places that my assignments have taking me in 2018. In early spring I was in Texas to document some of @5g_studio_collaborative fantastic projects. That gave me an opportunity to visit Marfa located far out in the dessert to experience two of my heros, Donald Judd and Dan Flavin, first hand. Even further out in the desert, you will find the most brilliant installation “Prada Marfa” by @elmgreenanddragsetstudio This “store” is a catalyst for people, from all over the world, to meet, talk, dance, posing, enjoying the setting, the light and each others’ company for hours - in the middle of nowhere - Loved it! . We are head over heels in love with the newly revamped @thelakesidemotel when we saw it all in person today. We’re dreaming up packages and events (and safe ways to do them, bc saunas boost your immune system!) so please be patient with us while we figure things out! Fall can be a weird time to sell but after so many inquiries we’ve decided that maybe it’s not so bad after all. So we’ve decided it’s official: we’re FOR SALE. The Sugarhouse Homestead is set in the middle of a maple grove 35 minutes north of Burlington, VT in Fletcher. There are 11 acres of land, both meadow and forest all located the end of a private road with 5 beautifully modern buildings. Septic & well have been dug, electricity is in place and all pipes have been run in order to bring sewer and water to all essential buildings as well as a future (permitted) house site at the top of a hill with an incredible view. Our modern homestead sits on the edge of a maple grove with a long meadow in front. The Cabin- Our 166 sq foot cabin is well insulated & customized with a whitewashed tongue and groove interior. Custom deck and fence with garden out front. Incredibly efficient tiny wood stove with a custom hearth. We also have satellite internet making it the perfect place to work remotely. The Bathhouse- We built this custom 100 sq ft bath house to serve the cabin and outbuildings as well as micro-cabins we planned to build In the woods to Airbnb in the future. Features oversize matte black hexagon tile floor, skylight, fiberglass two-seater shower with a Rinnai propane water heater, ceramic double sink & matte black fixtures. The Studio- The 392 sq ft studio is both a living room and a working pottery studio with a kiln and wheel (open to including these in the sale for an additional price of $4k if you’re a potter & want to get to work). @clare.claretynutrition Get. It. Girl. • Clare has been a Bauer Built remote programming client for quite some time but recently added a little Rebuilding in as well. She’s struggled on and off with knee pain (especially with heavy squats). As with most aches and pains, there isn’t ONE simple answer - for Clare that was very true and we’ve been attacking the pain from many angles. One thing we noted in our movement analysis was a loss of tension at the bottom of her squat no matter the weight/speed/tempo etc. To be clear: this isn’t always a bad thing and definitely has a time & place, but being able to control if/when it happens is an example of mind/body connection (aka neuromuscular control for you nerds 🤓). She has worked VERY hard to be able to retrain her neuromuscular habits and maintain tension when desired. Saging the house. If you didn’t know, our home was gutted to the studs last November after a water pipe burst. We lost almost everything we own! For someone who makes half their living posting photos of their home, and then to have covid take over the world while we lived in a hotel, it should have been devastating. 👉 But we decided from day one to CHANGE OUR MINDS about what kind of event was happening. It was not an end. It was a beginning. 👈 Today it is finished, after a 10 month rebuild. And even being limited within the insurance budget, it has still turned out so nice, with all the charm of a 1940s home but being all brand new! I know you all saw photos of our home on @designsponge and @thejungalow and all over Pinterest, and probably thought we had such a nice house, but anyone who has actually been in the house knows it had lots of “old house” problems in an old neighborhood. I’ve never even posted a photo of the exterior because it was embarrassingly ugly! Now it’s so adorable, we were walking through in awe yesterday and realized neither of us have ever lived in a house this nice. (And we probably won’t, 90% sure we’ll be renting it out 😃). Effective June 8, 2020, Cape Cod Healthcare reopened Falmouth Urgent Care, a facility that had been temporarily closed during the initial surge of COVID-19 cases so that staff and resources could be allocated to Falmouth Hospital ED and other CCHC Urgent Care centers. The center has resumed its regular operating hours of 9:00am - 7:00pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00am - 4:00pm on weekends. Inhabiting this house is like living in one interconnected, interlocking piece of joinery. The design is simplified down to just two materials, creating a clean, organised space that is a refreshingly well-designed alternative to the rustic aesthetic of the typical tiny home. Everything is thoroughly considered for its function, transportability, and ergonomic performance. Meticulous planning was required, from resolving the weight of materials and their distribution on the trailer, to manoeuvering on-site and within the tiny home. The design is pure, uncluttered, generous, and well-articulated; the house is a great example of resolving design down to the millimetre when it counts. The Porepunkah pub sits next to the Ovens river and nearby Bright. ⠀ ⠀ This weary traveller pulled up a stool with Uncle Terry in the spacious and modern beer garden out the front. We were up here for the Brighter Days festival, an event that an avid mullet and muscle car enthusiast such as Tez just couldn’t pass up. ⠀ ⠀ The place packs a decent feed but the beer selection is what gets the punters hot under the collar. Over 15 different beer taps selling a range of old favourites and crafts. Its a Water Street Wednesday reveal! Last Wednesdays image was of 350-356 Water Street, built for $3,500 as a house and accessory building for Willard Perry McDonald in 1901 and now home to Golden Rule and Ace General Store. We know that these buildings served several families in their earlier years and later businesses here included Excelsior Family Chiropractic, Christian Counseling Services, Three French Hens, Annie Marie Photography, Fleur du Jour and Ivivva. But the man who built them, Willard Perry McDonald, remains an enigma. He and wife Rachel appeared to be a prominent Excelsior power couple whose activities were frequently featured in Excelsior and Twin Cities newspapers. He was an attorney and later a mining broker, in demand for his July 4th orations on the Commons - and she was a civic dynamo, serving on committees and entertaining often at their lovely home. However, the newspaper stories took a turn in 1903 with an account of his arrest for embezzling $40,000. And after his death in 1907, he made national news again when his three concurrent wives went to court to claim their inheritance - including Mattie McDonald of Arkansas - mother of his four children - who finally understood the reason for her husbands frequent, lengthy absences.
