So happy to announce the release of the LACUNA RE-IMAGINED EP! All tracks are based on live one-take recordings performed in my kitchen, with no edits made to the take. I stuck to my general rule of 3 takes for each tune, and willfully chose to perform the bulk of these without a click, although on two of the six tracks I used analog drum machines, going back to my earliest days of writing & playing. The wonderfully inspiring musician/composer @emilywellsmusic and her accompanist @topu_lyo were generous enough to collaborate with me on string arrangements which we basically recorded on the fly in my living room over the course of three days. Shortly after my dear friend and neighbor @stuartbogie joined the project and added the horns & woodwinds, breathing extra layers of new life into these raw takes. Major gratitude to @jackdeboe for helping me finish up & mix the tracks during quarantine! This year marks the 15th year since my father passed away. He was 45 at the time and would have turned 60 this year. As raw as these recordings are, I’m so happy to be able to share them with anyone willing to experience them. I put so much love into them and I am partnering with the @callenlorde Community Health Center in NYC, which helped both my father and I during rough times while he was still alive. They continue to do really important work for vulnerable minority groups in the city and in Brooklyn and are inevitably affected by the current Covid pandemic. Actually, during the quarantine I got dumped. It was near 16th May. I was in shock and couldnt do anything for the next 10days. After that I couldnt control myself and literally begged her to stay. I hate this decision of mine so much now. She stayed , forcefully it last for another week or something coz I had a surgery and shed look super rude or whatevrr to leave me at that time. So after all this was done , on 6th June , she texted me again saying she cant stay anymore. I was super angry this time since I was trying to work on the thing that made her leave me. I was trying super hard. She ended up by saying one last thing what if I dont love you anymore i was stunned. I couldnt control myself I tried calling her and texting and what not. I got blocked on all the platforms available. I did many impulsive stupid things after that just for her to come back. I regret them so much now , one of them being going on live youtube gaming stream where shes a moderator and confronting her. I feel so stupid now that I did that. I cant control my emotions when Im like this. Now its been roughly two months. I still have the guilt of whatever happened. Ive started to find someone on tinder and stuff , weirdly it brings me relief , Im not sure if finding a rebound will solve the purpose , or Im wrong ethically just finding someone else just to reduce the pain im facing. Na transição entre Agosto Dourado e Setembro Amarelo, gostaria de registrar algumas (das muitas) relações entre Amamentação e Saúde mental. A relação começa desde o começo. A produção do leite materno é orquestrado pela hipófise anterior, que libera prolactina e assim produz o leite, e pela hipófise posterior, que libera a ocitocina e possibilita a ejeção do leite de fato. E o que isso tem a ver com saúde mental? O que acontece é que esse mesmo hormônio - ocitocina - não por acaso também tem relação com saúde mental. Isso porque ele é: facilitador do apego, desencadeador da empatia, neurotransmissor da felicidade ( juntamente com dopamina, serotonina, endorfina), aumenta a tolerância ao estresse, reduz a ansiedade, previne depressão pós parto e facilita o sono restaurador (que influencia na saúde mental). O hormônio também traz benefícios ao bebê, pois a exposição a ocitocina facilita o desenvolvimento de segurança, confiança e vínculo. E um estudo brasileiro evidenciou que crianças amamentada até os 6 meses apresentam menos chances de depressão grave na vida adulta. Ou seja, amamentação pode influenciar na saúde mental de todos os envolvidos. Inclusive d@s companheir@s, pois estudos mostram aumento da ocitocina sérica também del@s (vide: #ifcpaternidade ) E assim, nos despedimos do mês de incentivo a amamentação e damos boas vindas ao mês da atenção a Saúde mental, cientes que ambos os temas seguirão presentes o ano inteiro por aqui.
