Leavings are hard. Even if you know that it’s the next right thing. Tomorrow, I end my chapter as an employee at CaraVita. Over the last seven and a half years, these people that I’m grateful to call my coworkers have been home and family to me. I have learned so much, laughed so much, and hopefully grown into a deeper, more substantial person in the process. It has taught me to appreciate joy in every stage of life, be eternally thankful for opportunities to learn, and see first-hand how small acts of kindness, love and compassion can truly change the world for good. I’ve always said that I’m 85 years at heart and in working with our clients, I have been reminded that age is just a number. We all have beautiful stories and we have more in common with those around us than we may initially perceive. We all have a desire for meaning and connection in our lives and that does not change with the number of grey hairs we collect on our heads. It has taught me to move in close, give a hug, and if you see a piano, sit down and play a song. To our fearless leader, the Big Dragon herself, our Mama Beth. Sharing an office with this lady has taught me so much about small businesses, making an impact on your community, living out your passion, and consistently pursuing integrity and justice both in your work and your life. Thank you for believing in me, challenging me, and championing me. It has shaped me both as a professional and an individual, and I am so grateful. It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of a very beloved business owner, Jennifer Specht from the Chancery Lane Co.. Jennifer died peacefully, following a brief illness, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. Jenny had been a part of the Downtown community since moving here with her family in 1959 when her parents opened their first business on the street - Maureens a ladies clothing store named after her mother. She grew up on the street and always called main street her playground. The love of retail was in her blood and she happily opened her first business - The Gingerbread House in 1995 and then later The Chancery Lane Co. Jenny was a staple on the street and greeted everyone with a smile and loved to converse with her customers and fellow business owners. We can honestly say she will truly be missed by all that were blessed enough to know her. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this very difficult time. Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home on Friday, October 2, 2020 between 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AND between 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. between 9:00 am - 12:00 noon (705-645-2257) to reserve a specific time to attend the visitation or service. This is the first summer I’ve been home in 23 years. It’s very strange to not be sweating it out at festivals, asking strangers to help with sunscreen, one eye on the schedule the other on the line at the port a potty. The feeling of connection with band-mates and crew seems tightest at festivals. I miss being asked to sit in with other bands, I miss tracking down old friends and big hugs with people I might not know all that much about, but with whom I share a deep connection and bond. And I miss drinking a beer singing along with Kasey Musgraves at the Newport Folk Festival with Aoife and Jarosz. God I love being at @newportfolkfest. Ministra da Agricultura recebe exemplar de cerveja produzida com lúpulo nacional - O Brasil importou no ano de 2018 a quantia de 3.362 mil toneladas de lúpulo a um valor de 55 milhões de dólares, segundo a @aprolupulolupulo. Durante muito tempo havia uma crença de que não era possível produzir lúpulo no país. Porém a implantação desta cultura promissora está se tornando realidade. Nesta quinta-feira, a ministra @terezacristinams recebeu um exemplar de uma cerveja produzida com lúpulos de Santa Catarina. Foram utilizadas na fabricação da cerveja flores de 2 produtores de Palmeira/SC, que possuem juntos em torno de 1.700 pés. A Secretaria de Agricultura Familiar e Cooperativismo do @mapa_brasil, em um Projeto de Cooperação Técnica com o @iicaoficial, contratou um estudo de viabilidade técnica e econômica da produção de lúpulo no país. O secretário Fernando Schwanke vê como uma boa oportunidade de diversificação da cultura na pequena propriedade rural, sendo um produto de alto valor agregado e excelente fonte de renda. Além disso, a formação de cooperativas de produtores para ganho de escala é fundamental para acessar o mercado das grandes cervejarias nacionais. O consultor técnico do IICA/MAPA, Stéfano Kretzer, entende que o cultivo de lúpulo em território nacional tem grande potencial, visto resultados positivos já obtidos, atrelado às boas condições de clima e solo, além da grande extensão territorial que há no Brasil. Mas, para isso, uma base solida consolidada com pesquisas, dados, tecnologias e políticas públicas são fundamentais. “Há diversas iniciativas pelo país, fomentando esta cultura promissora. Após a finalização de todo estudo, serão realizados eventos pelo país para divulgação, bem como a criação do Manual de Boas Práticas de Cultivo”, comenta o supervisor do estudo e chefe de gabinete da SAF, @gabriel.assmann83.
