Even terug in de tijd naar 2005! Samen met mijn jeugdhelden Lange Frans & Baas B. Ik krijg kippenvel als ik naar deze foto kijk. 2020 is tot nu toe echt een bizar jaar, waardoor ik de laatste tijd veel beelden van vroeger aan het bekijken ben. Mooie herinneringen komen hierdoor naar boven en het geeft mij positieve energie. Ook is het apart om nu voor het eerst er achter te komen dat (heel cliché gezegd) de tijd echt vliegt, maar ik hierdoor wel meer in het moment ben gaan leven. Dagelijks staan er bij mij in de auto oude klassiekers op en komen Lange Frans en Baas B hier vaak in voorbij. Als ik het contrast van nu en toen met elkaar vergelijk ben ik stiekem een beetje jaloers op die tijd en zou ik willen dat ik toen al 22 was geweest in plaats van 7, zodat ik niet alleen kon luisteren naar die muziek, maar er ook van kon genieten in de discotheek. Ik kan in ieder geval zeggen dat ik er bij was en de positieve energie die ik hier nu uit haal geeft mij weer de power om ook in deze bizarre tijd door te gaan. Dus voor iedereen die het zwaar heeft in deze tijd “houdt vol! En laten we samen hopen op mooie/betere tijden net als toen” ❤️ - @donnyroelvink on Instagram

This is what positive affirmations look like!!!! Octavia Butler wrote these in her journal in 1988. By then she had already won multiple awards for her writing and shortly after saw the success she wrote about in her affirmations. This is a woman who was relentlessly committed to her work and her vision and I get chills every time I read these notes. Ive been dreaming about going to grad school for the longest time and now its really happening. As I imagine what academia would be like during a pandemic and after a 10-year break, reading Butlers affirmations felt necessary and I am inspired. May I find and create the tools I need to dismantle and build. I will find the way to do this. So be it! See to it! This was a continuity pic from when we filmed #TheCarMan in @pinewoodstudios in England. I was Dexter the evil jail Warden in the piece, and it was so magical to work at #pinewood. #Tombraider with #AngelinaJolie was filming in the sound studio next to ours and I have a funny story about when I thought she was her stunt double (who Id chatted to a few times previously) and I saw her and started talking to her as we walked along, but then after a while of blabbering away Angelina turned fully to me with a cheeky smile and I finally realised who it was. Many of you asked about this and we heard! One of the oldest items in our Archive is a 20 x 17cm exercise book, with alternating gridded and ruled pages. It was used in 1948 by Norman Foster when he attended Burnage High School, Manchester. It records his first formal introduction to architecture, and his facility for drawing is immediately apparent. The focus is upon the evolution of historic building typologies and the identification of their component parts. At the same time, Norman Foster was discovering the achievements of such modern architects Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright through books in nearby Levenshulme Free Library. I could write an essay on the importance these two had, in not only my life but SO MANY others, in Wilkes Barre and around the world. At 15, i met @danielgcxuk and he said “so are you straightedge or what?”. Years later, he basically forced me to go to Richmond with him on weekends to meet his friends there, Guerilla Crew. @iambobbymac went out of his way to support my very first pop punk band and then was pivotal in developing my taste in music. He let us play huge shows at Homebase, which we had no biz playing, let me cohost his college radio show once, and of course was responsible for the best shows and hardcore fest to ever exist, Posi Numbers Fest. Bobb and Dan are Wilkes Barre hardcore LEGENDS, And without these two, generations of bands and friendships might not even exist and that’s not up for debate.
