I gave too much to people who didn’t deserve me, and was backstabbed by people who claimed to be friends. I had my car smacked into, sitting at two different red lights, two weeks apart. I’ve had injuries and surgeries and shed more than my share of tears. . I also saved lives. I held space for those who needed emotional support and stood beside those who were hurting and abandoned. I cheered on the underdogs and believed against the odds. 65- This is Lydia 🍑 Some of you may know Lydia already, or rather, her incredible work. Go check out her stunning female body castings here if you haven’t already 👉🏼 @lydiareeves_artist 💜 The Vulva Diversity project in particular is just great, and so so important. Her art portrays how unique every vulva is, a fact which is so rarely talked about. The project aims to share people’s experiences with their vulvas and celebrate their individuality❣️ As you can see, this is a slightly different ‘doorstep’ photo. With lockdown easing I was able to have a peek into Lydia’s wonderful studio, while still keeping our distance of course. Happy Wednesday shoutout to allllllll the PARENTS out there!! Happy Saturday! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Welcome to 1 out of our 2 WFH offices. We know working from home can be difficult, so here’s our top 5 tips. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (5) Pick a simple morning routine— three things you can do every morning before 9am. When you start to the throw in complex breakfasts and getting laundry folded, you’ll burn out. Our simple routine is: (i) always make the bed, (ii) 30 minutes of walking or running, (iii) drinking tea or coffee at our desk. ☕️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (4) If you can, pick a location you can “step into” and “step away from”. Productivity is not working 7 hours in a row. You really need a place you can put in a few hours, step back, take a break and come back to work after a snack or a breather. There’s a reason state law requires 2x 10 minute breaks per 7 hour shifts. 🖥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (3) It may be tempting to just “quickly check your email” while laying in bed. Try to avoid this. As soon as you open that inbox, suddenly the laptop follows you into bed. If you have the space, keep work out of the bedroom. If you can’t because you’re in a small apartment, designate a corner or get a lap desk. This tells your brain when it’s time to work and when it’s time to sleep! Your brain has muscle memory! 🧠 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (2) Give yourself grace. Your work life and home life and maybe even your kids school life is all blending together. It’s very difficult to keep them separate. Instead of an hour by hour schedule, try blocks of time. And remember— this will not work every single day, it just won’t. So give yourself GRACE. ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (1) Put something on your desk that makes you smile. I have a photo of my favorite hike we have ever done and my favorite flowers. Sometimes when the day is stressful, I’ll move over my favorite candle from my friend Amber. To be fully transparent, I lost my excitement for this project the moment we went into a pandemic. The conversations I kept having with myself were all negative. “Now is not the time.”, and “If we open we’re going to fail.” Also “Your abilities are not good enough for a project this big.” I forgot my WHY. Why? This is how I show up for myself. There’s so much I want to accomplish in my lifetime. So my girls grow up knowing they too can do anything. Times are weird, but nevertheless life is happening. The very nature of life is uncertain. The natural order of life is risk and reward. The last thing we need is to play small. 78 days in California has looked like...... As hard and confusing as these past 4 months have been, I forgot how nice it is to be in Southern California ☀️ Flying out here in April was the best decision I’ve made this year. John and I went to the garden to pick herbs for dried bouquets and winter tea ✨ Even though I dry herbs on a (somewhat) large scale for LL, and even though I have complete access to those herbs and can get them from the farm at any time, we still dry herbs for ourselves at our home. Everyday I’m amazed at this little girl. She opens my eyes to all the possibilities and she helps me see things in different ways. I appreciate her so much. She sometimes surprises me with her knowledge and curiosity and as her mother it is amazing to watch and listen. The other evening after a long day of work, our her and me time was in my favorite place (our Brazilian hammock under a nice shade tree). She brought out a grazing stick and started studying it. Then she started to ask me questions like you’d hear at a grown up field day and the connections were all coming together for her in terms of why we graze, why we rotate the sheep and cows daily, why we look at forage height, what species are growing in the pasture, the wildlife we see and how we use grazing sticks. She may be a wiser and more informed farmer or landowner than I one day. Hi! I’m Emma! With so many new friends on here, I thought it would be good to start showing you the faces behind Poppy. My mom and I started out working with flowers in her kitchen years ago, then moved onto her garage, and eventually took the plunge to open a floral design studio here in the Antelope Valley. We a small but mighty team of amazing women and a awesome dudes who specialize in wedding floral design serving the greater Los Angeles, but have grown and shifted to also serve our friends here more on a local level and show our beautiful valley some much needed flower LOVE. A little bit about me- I am a wife to an amazing man and mother of three sweet little girls. I have always had an affinity towards flowers, especially lilacs, honeysuckle, roses, and the wildflowers the enrapture our desert floor every year. I am a design junkie, a creative at heart. It’s almost impossible for me to look at a space and not start dreaming, or be in nature and not revel at why it is. I like to think that it’s that curiosity that keeps the love of flower arranging alive in me. The possibilities are endless! When I’m not workin and doing my thing here, you can usually find me at home- preferably with my friends and loved ones loaded in and hosting them with a good meal, good music, and a good cocktail. I am passionate about cultivating creativity and community in our valley. I have some exciting news! . A few weeks ago I was asked to come on as the Executive Director of @designingdreamsusa - a nonprofit organization that redesigns bedrooms of children currently battling cancer. Designing Dreams mission is to inspire happiness and hope during a really hard time for these children and their families. Kids on treatment for cancer are often isolated from friends, school, and extracurricular activities for months, sometimes years, depending on their treatment plan. The average age of a kid fighting cancer is only 6 years old. During a time where the kids are sick and removed from their passions and hobbies, Designing Dreams brings these to them by making their dream bedroom a reality. . As most of you know, I’ve worked with kids fighting cancer for over 7 years in different capacities, and have been on the Board of Directors for Designing Dreams for the past year and a half. I am incredibly honored to take on the Executive Director role for an organization that does so much good. The Designing Dreams team is a group of impact-driven, passionate, and selfless people that make this world a better place. I’m blessed to be part of this talented and inspiring group of people. . I am taking on this ED role part-time while continuing to build my company, @livelydigitalmarketing This additional opportunity means being more intentional with the way I build Lively, ultimately only taking on brands that have social impact woven into the fabric of their company culture and want to leverage their marketing efforts to drive social change. . La mia più grande passione è larte: potrei stare ore a guardare mostre, musei, libri... Ma non arte contemporanea, lì proprio non ci capisco nulla. La mia seconda grande passione è la cucina e ho deciso di condividerla con tutti voi, utilizzandola anche come spunto di riflessione per far conoscere dei piccoli fatti su di me e imparare a conoscere chi mi sta seguendo in questo viaggio di scoperta personale e raccolta di ricordi. It’s been months since I’ve shown my face on here, so hi 👋🏻 instead of coming up with random facts about myself, I decided to share a few things I’ve felt incredibly thankful for lately! 1. Being able to work from home alongside my husband! I truly think this is the most time we’ve spent together since being married. Our first two years of marriage consisted of late nights working and opposite schedules, so this time together has been so sweet💕 2. My incredible couples! Could you imagine planning a wedding in the midst of a pandemic!? I feel so thankful for my couples who have been so flexible and gracious this year. We’ve celebrated everything from backyard weddings, to socially distanced weddings, and we’re even counting down the days for some delayed celebrations in 2021 🎉 Like many, this year has been hard as a small business owner, but working with such wonderful humans is a sweet reminder as to why I love what I do! 3. Christmas being less than 100 days away! I’m not a huge “fall” person, maybe because it still feels like summer in Houston? But I cannot wait for Christmas, especially this year! This past year I walked through one of the darkest seasons of my life. I jumped from one emotionally draining experience to the next. I was battling a season of depression, having to put down my dog , grieving many friendships as I knew them, being passed over for a much deserved promotion, and watching the book close on my journey at my dream company—just to name a few things at the tip of the iceberg. I woke up everyday and mustered up just enough strength to will myself to get out of bed, go to work, and pull it together. But let me tell you, there’s nothing more exhausting and draining than crying on your drive to work, wiping your tears, pretending to be yourself 9-5, and then going home to lay in bed and watch the world pass you by. Preserving what little energy you have so you can get up and do the same thing day after day. I share this for any person who feels as isolated and alone as I did this past year. There’s a special intimacy in being listened to & understood; so if you’re going through a dark season, please know you’re not alone. Just keep coming back home to yourself. No matter how far away you feel or how dark it seems. Because that’s the thing, it’s never too late to come home to yourself. It feels weird to share such an intimate journey on here but I am far more interested in showing the world who I became in the darkness than I am in preserving my comfort. Today, I’m celebrating the first few moments of connection online after almost 7-weeks off the grid in our new home. As I type this, I’m sitting on my back porch drinking hot chai tea (because it’s already FULL fall up here🍁) — appreciating deeper than ever, the privilege of our connection. I’ll be 34 next month & I even have some lil wrinkles to prove it. I’m thankful for all the places God has taken me into, and out of. For the people He has let me love and be loved by. Mostly, thankful He loves us all as we are but loves us wayyy too much to leave us that way. If I’ve learned anything at all, only knowing Jesus for the last 5-6 years, it’s the following: 🤍 I am a sinner in desperate need of a savior. I do what I don’t want to do, and I don’t do what I want to...and yet, each day God gives a fresh chance to surrender it all and get back up on the🐴 and try again 🤍In the best & worst seasons, God is the answer. When everything is going great, it’s Him who we thank and when everything’s going wrong, it’s Him we can turn to and rest in. We live in a fallen, broken world and He does NOT want to see us suffering and that’s why He gives us the option of surrendering & resting in a peace that surpasses all human understanding. 🤍 no pandemic, illness, lie, loss, situation, person or thing is too big for God to heal, remove, change, undo. Sometimes, He lets us walk through things longer than we prefer to help, grow, sharpen us..whether we see it in that time, or not. 🤍forgiveness is a COMMAND & is to be given f r e e l y despite deservedness, circumstance or how the other person is acting. we’re forgiven AS WE forgive other’s trespasses y’all. it’s not optional; sure, you can/should remove yourself, where possible, from unrepentant and unwilling to change/grow people but you still have to FORGIVE them, whether they’re sorry or not. Jesus said it best, “forgive them Father, they know not what they do.” And when people *are* repentant, we better forgive them over + over again. I thought I was so forgiving and have had to learn this anew 💣💥 #truth 🤍 marriage is the perfect example of Christ’s love because in order to succeed, you truly must learn to die to your self, and put your partner ahead of you, or it doesn’t really work out. it’s worth it 1000%. @mcastromusic is worth it 3000. 🤍 love + solid community = answer to literally everything 🤍 I ain’t perfect but I’m worth it & so are YOU I love y’all! What a week it has been. Yesterday our team hit the largest revenue week in team history . A current team member had one hell of a freaking killer week and I couldn’t be happier for her. I trained a new team member that I could cry of excitement of how excited I am to watch her grow and succeed . Our fearless leader was nominated yet again for another well deserved award. And I personally hit my largest day of revenue , ever. 🙏🏽 ✨ Yesterday I ended my day in a bathing suit , poolside in the sunshine, with one of my best friends (and our pretty awesome guys 😏)full of so much dang gratitude. Reminding myself of all the positives in the midst of such a chaotic time. I know how uncertain times may be . This year, more than ever, we could all do with a little more grounding. 🌹 The concept of grounding can sound a little vague or confusing if it’s new to you, and doesn’t have to relate solely to starting a meditation practice! (Although meditation is my favourite thing!) Here are some other ideas for grounding activities: -Take deep, calm breaths. -Notice and list things in your surroundings. -Expose yourself to strong, pleasant sensations, like a pleasing smell or a favorite blanket. -Say out loud your name, your age, the date, and your location. List some things youve done today, or are going to do. -Splash water on your face or run your hands under the faucet. -Do a body scan meditation, or pay close attention to each of your body parts one by one. -Make tea. Feel the warmth of it in your hands, and the taste as you sip it calmly. -Listen to music. -Play a categories game, and name some types of dogs, or clothing items, or gemstones, or countries, or anything else you can think of. -Write in your journal. -Take a mindful walk, either inside or outside. Pay close attention to your body and your surroundings. -Squiggle. Wiggle around. Dance. Stretch. I started working with Stetson on designing a bandana for their holiday season, and when I mentioned the project to my uncle he said “you know your great grandfather worked at Stetson, right?” Which I did not know! But it makes sense...Stetson employed many Italian immigrants in their Philadelphia hat factory at the turn of the century. I already loved the brand because I’m a huge westernwear fan but now I feel like we have a cosmic hat-connection🌙 The fine folks at Stetson sent my new photographer friends @markkauzlarich and @mishgarcia to my studio on a beautiful Fall Saturday to get a look at the design process. I’m such a fan of Mark’s work and couldn’t be more excited with how he saw and captured it! Whoa! What a trip! I left India on a repatriation flight almost two weeks ago and landed near Charleston, SC in the US. This year I mastered my ability to go with the flow, what can I say 🤪 I miss my friends, family and Europe so much, there are no words that can describe it and I apologize for disappearing for so long and not replying to some of your messages in time! I had a huge transition and transformation process, which is still not over, but enough is enough:) Since I am deprived from any social human interaction at the moment it is about time I get back online. Quick update: -⚡️still don’t know when I will be back in Vienna, latest - end of August. ⚡️I am in the US because my Fiance lives here(we met in India, and I am engaged now. She never comes to shoots but she’s extremely involved in the editing process as a dedicated lap warmer. Currently in this exact spot taking a little Instagram break while I wait for things to load on my computer for editing. I’ve been pretty much glued to this spot for the past week getting galleries finished and sent out during the day, leaving to shoot at night, and sometimes coming back to edit after that. As we head into British Flower Week, I am cogitating what it means to be a POC not only in this country but within my industry. Had my first local Pop-Up shop yesterday and it was a success!! 🤩 Thank you to everyone who showed up and supported me as well as all of the amazing and creative women! Its me! (📸 by @alexandrafriendly) Not sure I have introduced myself in awhile...or ever. I always feel a bit forced to list a bunch of stuff that is suppose to be me. I have always really despised generalizations. It feels like it leaves no room for individuality, surprise, choice. I thrive on choice and freedom. And honesty. If it feels too hard to be honest I dont say anything at all. Also, arent we all a little bit of everything? I have had people describe me as indomitably happy. Which is true. I can always find the silver lining. I have also had people describe me as too much...which is also kind of true. I mean what they think I am too much of, I am...even if I dont think I am too much of the thing, I am still part of the thing. I have also been described as a feeler, passionate, stubborn, fighter, sensitive, silly, mother earth, brave, lazy, classy, hippie, fancy, casual, nostalgic, foodie, confrontational, peacemaker, storyteller, photographer, sun lover..the list goes on and on. Which just kind of proves my point that we are all a little bit of everything. Or a lot bit of everything. I think for the most part people think of me as a smiling positive optimistic outspoken passionate thoughtful lover of deep connections and dreams. But I also have really hard bits. Like the middle of February when I had a week of severe anxiety. Debilitating anxiety. 6 days strait where all I did was meditate, put my face in the sun and cry and hope it wouldnt last forever. After quite the sun tan...therapy, medication, friends, more meditation, and what felt like an ego death. I rose from the ashes with a body re-set and a clarified life goal of Peace and Gratitude. The only two things I want and need. I slept as much as I wanted to sleep and ate what my body told me too. I was in a weird way re-born and now I am learning to walk again. Like every other hard time I have had in my life. I always learn to walk again. Then Corona, which unbeknownst to me I had been preparing for, for the last two months (or maybe my lifetime)....(continued in comments).... - @rachelthurston_ on Instagram

Woke up to 8k of you. Seriously I don’t know what am I doing right to have you all here. I started this little space almost 2 years ago. And that was the time when I did my first ever home staging project for a family home that we got custom built but then later decided to sell it. My husband was looking for a home stager when I reluctantly told him I think I can do it. He said are you sure? Where would you rent all the furniture from? So I researched some and found this amazing resource @staginganddesign and rented all my furniture from them. I bought so many accessories to fill that house with. And guess what, it turned out great and got sold within two days of being on the market. I never stopped ever since. So many great opportunities came my way and I feel so fortunate working with some of the nicest people who trust me with their homes, custom builds, new spec home constructions, realestate agents and homeowners who want to sell their listings for more. If you are just starting out and need advise, although I feel I am nowhere close to giving out any. I would say, there are no short cuts in this career or any. You work hard and you keep doing that. Be genuine, be authentic, be yourself, never pretend you know something if you don’t and never compete with anyone. Always show up with your best attitude and make sure you deliver your very best no matter how hard or challenging it gets. That’s my recipe to whatever success I have achieved so far but definitely continuing with the same motivation and willpower and hoping the best is yet to come. I might be flawed and make mistakes but my biggest win is when I make people happy and content with their new spaces. Thank you so much for following along. I’m starting this account to document progress with my physical and mental well-being as I level up some health and wellness practices. What started as a six week challenge during Victoria’s second stage three restrictions has become my saving grace. Yup, all those weeks ago I set out to complete three @sweat workouts a week as part of #BBG as well as improving my running time from 7m 15s per kilometre, learning to master full pushups, reading more, mediating and journalling daily. Now, as we close out the first full week of stage four restrictions in Victoria, I’m finding my stride with exercise, meditation, and journalling, and really starting to see positive changes in my physical and mental health.
