Did you know that during the month of October, Kids can go FREE to the @sandiegozoo and @sdzsafaripark ? Kids FREE @visitsandiego is back with special savings on SD hotels, restaurants, attractions, museums, and tours. Visit our bio for more info. A couple weeks ago, we visited the @sdzsafaripark. This was our first time visiting since COVID safety measures have been put in place. They had a drive-up tent to answer health screening questions before you enter the park. They are currently limiting capacity but we visited late afternoon and it was not crowded. The first place we went to visit is the Walkabout Australia exhibit. It is unique in that it is home to 2 platypus and is the ONLY place you can see a platypus outside of Australia! They offer complimentary timed tickets to visit the platypus habitat so get there early. My kids loved seeing a platypus in person for the first time and to learn more about this unique egg laying, nocturnal, mammal. The Walkabout Australia also has a great exhibit for the kangaroos and wallabies where you can walk freely among them. You have to sanitize before entering a enclosed area where there are no barriers separating you from the animals. It’s fun to see the kangaroos up close and hopping around. 🦘 The Tiger trail provides multiple opportunities to see Sumatran tigers up close. Although one of our favorite activities, the Africa tram, is closed currently, there are still so many fun opportunities to visit and learn about animals at the park. Some tips before you go: 🐅 Currently, the park is operating on less than half of normal capacity on a first-come first-served basis. The website lists the popular times and wait times so you can best plan when to visit. 😷 Masks are required for guests 2 years and older 🦒 Guests are not allowed to exit and re-enter the park on the same day so make sure you have everything you need from the car before entering the park. 🦘Visit the Walkabout Australia exhibit first to get your timed ticket to visit the platypus as times can run out #visitsandiego #sandiegosafaripark #walkaboutaustralia #sandiego #platypus #kangaroo #animals #familytravel #mackidtravel #mackidcovina - @mackidcovina on Instagram

McKay Lake Nature Park ... I posted last week about a fun nature-themed playground we visited. Well, there are nature-themed playgrounds and then there are NATURE playgrounds and McKay Lake Park is definitely one that should be on every nature-loving kid’s list! ... This playground has all the things you’d expect- climbing obstacles, slides, tunnels, swings, and bridges- but it’s all built out of natural elements! Our kids were super obsessed with being prairie dogs in “tunnel land” and kept running from there, to the slides built on the side of the hills, to the “beaver dam” climbing structure, to the rope bridges, to the boulders, to the log steps built into the side of the hill, to the sand pit. There’s a fitness loop if you’d like to get a little exercise in, a small pump track for little bike riders a larger bike park for more advanced riders, and a loop trail around the lake (1.6 miles) with a little dock to walk on. ... We love checking out all these great play areas! Gee thanks, did you see IT HAS POCKETS 🥰 Seriously though this gingham beauty from @monki might be my favourite addition to my stay at home wardrobe especially as the cotton is sustainably sourced 🙌🏼 I’m going to be making a conscious effort going forward to try to think more about the environmental impact of my fashion choices 🍃 ... Although I’ve made several eco swaps in the last few years, reusable cotton pads, a menstrual cup and giving up plastic bottles to name a few there is still a lot more I could do. As my body shape has changed I’ve become more aware of the lack of size inclusivity in sustainable fashion, not to mention the higher costs which are a barrier to many. Having the time, money and choice to thrift or shop only from sustainable brands is a privilege not everyone has and I recognise that 💗 ... However as someone with a platform, however small, I feel a responsibility to try to be more conscious of the stores I recommend going forward. Life is all about balance and it can be hard to find cute, affordable, size-inclusive, sustainable clothing as a curvy gal. My computer thinks I am a woman. I found it quite a long time ago but it was mostly just a funny topic for a small-talk between friends. How Ive recognized this about my computer? Did I do something especially for this? No. Its just happened somehow. But one day I got an email with a proposal of collaboration. And yes, they produce swimming suits only for women. I was never hiding my identity and I decided to say yes to collaboration to check how the algorithm really sees me. So on January 22, I became Bright Ambassador with a nickname Bright_Woman. I was recommended to have a Bora-Bora bikini or Scarlet Cora One Piece. I decided to start with Scarlet. I received a welcome email from CEO (obviously automatic), the possibility to share 15% discount with my friends (let me know if you need one) and of course a package with a swimming suit - welcome to the connection of on-line and off-line world. Indeed, I know this is the way how brands trying to sell their products - all of us know it - but there is also the way how machine see us. So what it may see? I am 82 kg which probably means a plus-size (foк the average height) woman, which sometimes reading feminist texts, with 10K followers at Instagram. Probably, I suit for this advertising. I made a post a couple weeks back about how I’ve hopped back into takin photos, but here’s another just saying holy crap how much fun it is. I can’t believe I get to actually do this for a partial living right now, and can even envision moving full time at some point. It’s legitimately my favorite. • I was thinking about it, how it’s kind of become an obsession recently, and how I had essentially made an idol out of it. I would choose podcasts on photography business practices or videos on lenses over a sermon podcast, or time spent reading my bible, and was taken aback. As fun as it is, I didn’t want it if I couldn’t offer it up as a sacrifice to God. • So I prayed to use it as a ministry tool, in addition to just filling my cup up with. And GEEZ has God taken me up on that. Put me in situations where I get to choose to love others, grow in my theology, serve others, build relationships, and honor Him. • Just so stoked. Update from the field: A check in on the addressing program! First and most importantly, Dalene is still a superstar and she’s still showing us all how it’s done. Secondly, if you’re new to our page, hello! After registering thousands of voters on the Navajo Nation, RUP embarked on a project to assign “plus code” addresses to every resident on the Utah portion of Navajo Nation. With these plus codes, residents can register to vote in the correct location, receive emergency services, and utilize an address for small businesses and more. In March, the world changed as the COVID-19 pandemic forced a full freeze onto our door-to-door field programs. While Dalene and our field team are currently engaged in our voter registration program, we have full intention to resume and complete the addressing program when it is safe for our team and the broader community to do so. The addressing program has an immense educational and installation competent, and it’s important that we be able to have safe conversations with residents. In the meantime, Dalene is working to safely install and troubleshoot addresses at high-priority locations until we are able to fully re-launch the program. She’s also staying plenty busy reinforcing our voter registration team in Arizona, and our other community projects in San Juan County. Thanks all for following the stories of our hardworking staff!
