A year ago my mom snapped this first picture of me getting ready to leave for the hospital. I didn’t want to go. I wasn’t ready for this huge thing to happen yet. By the time we arrived my OB sarcastically thanked us for showing up (he expected us two hours prior). I had no way of knowing that I was about to embark on the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Becoming a mom to this human is indescribable. I never knew a tiny human could bring such huge joy. He is hilarious and sweet and loving and it’s impossible to not to smile when he’s around. He gives so much love and he is so deeply loved. Harrison, thank you so much for choosing us. No tempo do meu corpo, no meu tempo tbm, mas enquanto isso não acontece, eu estou curtindo o processo. O mundo parou, a rotina mudou, o meu corpo sentiu muito e isso não pode ser vergonha!!! Vamos vivendo, aprendendo e construindo uma nova maneira. Já não somos os mesmos de janeiro, muita coisa mudou. Pq continuar agindo da mesma forma? Been on a self made detox (primarily TCM) for about a week. It’s been so good for my body, brain,& emotions. And not just foods, herbs, sweating, etc. I’m watching every bit of what I take in; who I’m around, (easy. Quarantine) what I watch on tv, read, when I answer the phone, what I say “yes” to, purging some emotions (finally) from disappointment over this season, reallocating energy into new dreams that the black lives matter movement has highlighted. All of this, and I’m actually taking it soooo slow (which has never ever been me). Next, is purging this pretty house since my new plants from @leafygreencreation are on the way (black owned). Mother’s Day and Baby Mama Day with @artwerk9999 big congratulations to Earth being born in the pandemic of a lifetime, everything’s changing @emilydawnlong —- somewhere between COVID as global threat and COVID as nagging inconvenience is COVID as excuse — and there’s the miscellaneous: people who rally against the vapidity in selfie/influencer/food blogger phenomena who are finally able to partake of all three without controversy because it’s “all we have now” and before you know it you’re choosing beetroots for their colour and giving eyeshadow tutorials. Trolls can troll harder knowing they’ll be given all the attention they crave without real-life confrontation on the horizon, assholes like me can air dirty laundry and dwell on trauma from the kitchen table. Enormous blue chip galleries can use money from the government to pay employees rather than making a dent in a family fortune. We can scream in the street and passersby will sort of understand, shoplift knowing the police are busy breaking up a barbecue, get around to making things we never had time for, blame the crisis for our not being able to make things, and at long last we can admit we’ve been strangely lonely since the 1990s and honestly what’s another few months (Issy Wood wrote this blip it is very nice) - @rebekahcampbell on Instagram

Transparent Tuesday’s: I felt a 30 second wave of sanity today, while stopped a red light. I caught my breath for a moment and wondered how the hell am I going to do all this? I feel like I’m drowning Drowning in motherhood and schoolwork while dealing with a damn pandemic. If it’s not one it’s the other. Motherhood and careers butt heads like squabbling siblings and I often wonder how people do it, so seamlessly so effortlessly or is that just another social media illusion? Mentally, my mind is going a mile a minute all day every day. I’m torn between my future career and my full time mom duties and doing ‘enough’ for both. No one ever said it would be easy. Throwback 😂💕🌸 Two years ago, I was in the final days of nesting and prepping my home-birth space! I was at the point where I didn’t think I’d ever go into labor, cranky and exhausted. SURPRISE I did indeed go into labor 3 days later. Marcus and I were taking walks every night with Mattie before her bedtime. We went team green and had no idea the sex of the baby. Fun fact I had the names picked out pretty early on but hadn’t shared them with Marcus yet in case he didn’t like them because I loved them 😂🤣 , So Marcus spent the final days of my pregnancy on baby sites searching for a boy/girl name. I vetoed all his ideas, and then the day before I went into labor, I texted him while he was at work “ Boy= Johnny Marvel + my girl option (which I’m not spilling 😂). He responded with YES DONE. You begin to love the nature created by our parents. “My body is my temple!” Now this phrase is sacred to me. I’m officially on “maternity leave” 👶🏼 I’m here.... at the final countdown! Things are progressing and this baby could come at anytime! It’s such a funny limbo to be in right now. I have energy, I feel healthy and great and totally capable of working... however, I don’t dare book any clients for fear that I’d have to cancel on them last minute if I go into labor 😬 . So I’m home, just waiting and soaking up these last days or weeks of the life I’ve been used to for so long. I honestly cannot wrap my head around this transition I’m about to go through! I’m not even scared of labor. Labor is temporary. Becoming a mother is what’s blowing my mind! 🤯 . Am I ready? Do I even know what I’m doing? Please tell me these maternal instincts will kick in?? 🙏🏼 I’m so scared and nervous and giddy all at the same time! . I already know I would do anything to have this little guy here safe and sound. I’m going to really miss this belly🤰🏼and having him protected at all times. I’m so so grateful that things have gone smoothly so far and baby boy and I are both healthy. I would never normally in a billion years share a photo of me feeding my babe but honestly I’ve been thinking so much about it being National Breastfeeding Week and the mighty mighty journey Joss and I have been on since he was born that I feel compelled to. To say it’s been intense would be fair, between more infections than I can now recall, constant pain, having to use shields until nearly 6 months and a dietary issue that took 5 months to solve it’s been a journey. Truly though it has been worth it all and is such a gift to be able to do it. I really just want to share this for anyone who’s finding feeding hard, I never thought I’d be in a position where I found it easy but honestly it comes. With perseverance and the right support, if you and your baby want to, you can get through it I promise. I would love to be the person to cheer you on, so please message me if you’d like to! Before one of my miscarriages last year I had intense and frightening anxiety. I am not a person who usually suffers from anxiety, so the feelings I had were unexpected and completely overwhelming. That day, I drove over to my grandparents house seeking help and comfort. I laid in their bed and sobbed on my Nonny’s lap while she rubbed my back. I lamented to her and my grandfather that I felt I would die in childbirth. As they prayed over me and the baby in my womb, the feeling wouldn’t leave. A week or so later, I was back at their house actively miscarrying. Waiting for my mom to pick me up and take me to the hospital due to extreme pain, I couldn’t help but feel guilty for praying “thank you God for saving me.” Weird right?? But I was thanking Him for saving me from anxiety for 9 months, I was thanking him for answering prayer and providing relief, even if that relief wasn’t what I’d imagined it to be. I learned that day that God’s solutions don’t always look like ours, but His solutions are just, perfectly timed and for our good. After having had 3 miscarriages now, I’ve learned valuable lessons from each one. I wouldn’t go back and change anything. Without my first miscarriage, we wouldn’t have had JT and I wouldn’t have learned God’s timing is perfect, always. Without my 2nd miscarriage, I wouldn’t have truly understood that God’s plan is better than mine and without my 3rd, I’d still feel entitled to childbearing and not understand it for the blessing it truly is. Miscarriages have taught me to intentionally extract God’s perspective from any difficult season in my life. To hear more about the lessons I’ve learned through miscarriages and how I’ve gotten through difficult seasons intentionally seeking God’s purpose through them, listen to the podcast I did with @gemsofmotherhood about finding hope in despair…. 61- This is Leah and Rob 🥬 They have spent lockdown growing this beautiful doorstep garden. This was their first time growing vegetables, the process of seeing tiny bits of growth everyday has been really exciting. They started lockdown with some seeds and now we have actual tomatoes and courgettes 🍅🌿 They’ve also been busy in the kitchen, they borrowed a friend’s pasta maker and made Dan Dan Noodles from scratch. So yummy. Homemade noodles are life 🍜 From the ‘office’ window you can see a big lovely Elm tree. There is a squirrel who lives in it and was always super busy up and down collecting snacks. One day she brought all 6 of her babies out to have a 1st look at the world, they were so tiny and cute. They had no idea how to be squirrels yet.
