Today I woke up ready to conquer my fears. I’m grateful because for the first time in my life, it’s getting easier. I’ve suffered with anxiety (turned postpartum anxiety) for years. I’ve had some tough moments where I felt like my anxiety was never going to improve. It was crippling and I was scared I would feel it forever. Maybe I’m growing as a person, maybe I’m getting older or maybe I’m simply learning how to manifest peace and acceptance in my life. My greatest struggle is feeling a comfortability in my own skin to go places alone. To be my own person. I struggle with independence because I’ve always questioned myself. But here I am, assuring myself and throwing away the self doubt I’ve been carrying around. The moral of the story is: we can do absolutely anything. There’s no need to believe we can’t. One thing I can say that I know many can’t, is I had an incredible hospital experience while having my little girl. The nurses & midwife on staff were extremely kind and attentive as I had prayed for. They respected that I wanted to wait as long as I could for an epidural & were just down to earth people who ended up being in tears after learning about the significance of my rainbow hair and validated the anxiety we both felt all year waiting for this moment with reassurance that they were doing everything in their power to bring baby Aria out safely. I went into emergency Monday morning at 1:30am because I woke up a half hour prior to lots of blood gushing out of me & sharp contractions 5 mins apart. We got admitted into L&D at 3am, & by 10am my contractions were 2-4 mins apart but I was 6cm dilated so by 11 I had an epidural and pitocin & began the waiting game. By 3pm, the nurse checks me and says she could feel my water sack, calls the midwife who breaks it, & says i’m 9cm dilated, and we can start pushing soon. By 4pm I’m pushing & Steven is basically my doula along with the nurse who are encouraging me to do what I can and telling me how amazing I am 😂 by 4:56pm baby girl was out! She came into this world quietly, so I panicked for a second cause I didn’t hear anything. They turned her towards me and she was eyes wide looking at me, started to cry and then stopped once on my chest. Steven cut her cord and she looked at him as well, and I finally felt the ball of nerves I had sitting in the pit of my stomach since seeing the positive pregnancy test in January release & Steven and I both quietly cried tears of happiness and joy. Now on the other side of pregnancy loss, I will never not mourn my angel babies. Even the Bible says our mourning has a record we don’t forget. However, “Aria” in many translations means melody, but also originates from the word “Air”. & Steven and I believe She represents the fresh breath of so much more as our addition, not a replacement; a restored marriage, a praying heart, a bonded family and a fresh start. At 7 months, Brooke enjoys growling, dancing, being tickled, eating people’s faces, playing peekaboo and FOOD. She can sit unassisted (most of the time) make dada, baba, yaya, mama and nana sounds and is now a tummy sleeper. Sadie had so many of the same interests at 7 months. Tonight I was asked to be a guest on a radio show. We talked about current events, solutions, and how to have and start the important conversations. And one thing that stuck out was that I was sitting next to a female detective officer of Hennepin county... imagine THAT job right now- woof. I thought that was quite freakin cool. Chatting with her I just had this feeling to tell her, you are leaving a legacy. You’re paving the way for females in law enforcement. You are closing the gap in gender equality in a male dominant industry. Then she shared with me how many women actually are in leadership within the county. Also pretty sweet. I had shared as well, that every time you put on that uniform. EVERYTIME you leave the house. EVERYTIME you inspire someone to be and do better, you’re leaving a legacy. For her kids, little girls who want to do what she does, and also those who have been told, you can’t because “X”. I just met her tonight but man, I’m so proud of her. Of her bravery, discipline and following her passions and heart no matter her circumstance. It’s not just women empowering women. I feel that’s to taboo. It’s GETTING FREAKING EXCITED for ANYONE who is excited about something that LIGHTS THEM UP. 🔥 seriously the coolest, best feeling watching someone talk about something that means so much to them. Thank you Devin for being a pioneer and paving the way for other little boys and girls that want to do what you do. unexplained infertility. that’s our official diagnosis. 👆🏽that means after a LOT of testing, the fertility clinic still couldn’t figure out why we weren’t able to naturally conceive. upon hearing this, you can imagine how we felt. my first initial reaction was to give our reproductive systems a stern talking to. I wanted to yell- GET YOURSELVES TOGETHER at my uterus + his penis. but knowing our luck, they would just retaliate + make matters worse. can I be totally honest with you? I’m not sure if that’s better or worse than having an answer. when you find out that you have unexplained infertility, it’s easy to interchange that word with a nasty word like unworthy. unworthy of having children. unworthy of being able to provide for your spouse. unworthy of being a man/woman. but today, we want to encourage you to STOP allowing those words to be interchangeable. stop allowing the infertility diagnosis you’ve been given to be a defining factor of who you are. YOU ARE NOT YOUR INFERTILITY DIAGNOSIS. you may be struggling with infertility, but that’s not who you are. there’s more to you than that- individually + as a couple. the capability of your fertility does not, I repeat, it does NOT define your worth. because you are WORTHY. WORTHY of having children. WORTHY of being able to provide for your spouse. WORTHY of being a man/woman. friend, don’t ever allow yourself to use those words interchangeably again. I love going to the hospital to welcome new babies to our family! This treasured experience brings me unspeakable joy every time. I love holding these precious children in my arms and embracing them for the first time, as in the accompanying picture, taken pre-COVID. These past few months, my pattern has been interrupted. Wendy and I have resorted to greeting our new family members virtually. We have missed holding these babies in our arms and look forward to the day when we can do so again. Gratefully, even a pandemic cannot and will not stop the Lord from embracing us. His love is constant. He never stops watching over us. He has promised that He will be on our right hand and on our left, that His Spirit will be in our hearts, and that even His angels will surround us. I woke up at 4:30 yesterday morning with my first actual contraction and by 10:05pm I was a mama to the most perfect 7lb 3oz little boy in the entire world 💙 We got to the hospital around lunch time and by 5pm I was begging for an epidural, which I didn’t get until 8:45 and was already 10cm lol. Basically, I got the epidural just to push but lemme tell ya it was worth it, even if only for an hour and even if it did only work on my left side 😂 Kasen was doing SO good after delivery - his oxygen was staying in the high 80s, so they let me hold him for 20 minutes before they took him to the nicu. Best 20 minutes of my life. He’s still doing great in the nicu with his oxygen staying in the high 80s and low 90s, and he’s eating really well too! We are hoping he will stay this way and be able to sleep with us tonight 💙 I have never been so in love in my whole life. Being a mama is the best and it hasn’t even been 24 hours. I got a little too sendy on the new bike on my third day of riding. I ended up getting bodied pretty hard when riding some trails. We got to bring you home for 24 hours before you went into the nicu. Me and your daddy have spent the last 6 days in there not being able to hold you and love on you as much as we’d like to... but I can promise you I’ll spend the rest of your life making up for it❤️ The doctors first assumed it was a normal case of jaundice.. but Z’s bilirubin #’s aren’t going down.. and sometimes even go back up.. so testing started yesterday & hopefully we will have some answers soon. This is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. So many emotions. No answers yet. This isn’t what it’s supposed to be like when you have a baby. We should be able to take him home & hold him & kiss him all day long and your sisters should be loving on you. We want you home baby boy. Please pray for our little man! We know that God has big plans for him. We love him so much💔 My heart goes out to all the nicu parents out there. We know our case isn’t nearly as tough as some others and my heart breaks for parents who have to go thru this. Hi From Idaho! 🍂⛰ We took a road trip with the kids to Idaho for the week and have been loving all the mountains, nature and fresh air! Here are some favorite memories from our trip:⠀ .⠀ 1. Clear blue skies! Which weve been missing so much in California from all the fires.⠀ .⠀ 2. My boys got to play on a playground for the first time since FEBRUARY! Josh had so much fun learning how to build a fire with Shawn at our cabin in McCall, Idaho. When the fire got big hed say now were cooking!⠀ .⠀ 4. We got the boys fishing poles and bait, then took them fishing in the lake. 10 minutes into fishing it started raining, and we gathered everything up and ran to the car, came home, made a fire and hot cocoa.⠀ .⠀ 8. To all of you who told me we had to get breakfast at the Pancake House in McCall, I love you. Best pancake of my life!⠀ .⠀ 9. Feeling this little boy #3 kicking away like crazy, and getting so excited for him to join our bunch. Ill be 6 months pregnant next week!⠀ .⠀ 10. Overall loved soaking in all these moments with my boys and enjoying life, almost completely unplugged from the internet and my phone. I’ve been a little quiet...⁣ ⁣ See, this past weekend my family came up to celebrate my birthday! ☺️🥳 It was an amazing weekend filled with laughs, date night with my husband, lots of food and snuggles. 💖 Perfection! One of my boobs doesn’t really work 🤷🏼‍♀️. At least not in the way you hope when you become a mother. Let me explain...I told myself I would be happy as long as Adley was fed. I work 24/7, how could I possibly keep up with the demand of breastfeeding? Everything changed after Adley went to the NICU. There’s so much pressure on mom’s to start breastfeeding right away, but how could I to do that when Adley was in an incubator & we could only hold her for a few minutes every 3-4 hours? It’s the first time I was truly PISSED at my husband. (Love you babe, but it’s true) He was just reiterating what every nurse kept telling us - START PUMPING! Hook yourself up, feel the painful pressure on your nipples, & do this constantly. After my hellish pregnancy & birth, I thought “How can anyone be asking me to do one more damn thing for this family? Hasn’t my body suffered enough? Haven’t I given enough?” @boppycompany asked me to share my story for Breastfeeding Awareness Month & to be honest it’s COMPLICATED. I’ve never felt such a strong bond as when Adley is pressed close to my body, looking up at me and breastfeeding. It’s time during the day where everything stops and it’s just her and I. 💕 BUT I realized one of my boobs just doesn’t reallly produce. I’ve been to lactation consultations, taken supplements, pumped every 2 hours until my nipples begged me stop, and.. NOTHING. So for now, I breastfeed Adley on one side when we are together & pump when we are apart. I’ll do it for as long as I can, but I have no idea how long that will be. There are days when I’m so mad at my body for not producing enough to feed her & save for when the nanny comes. Then there are days where I’m amazed I can feed my child with my own body. I’m sure some of you are like WHY IS THIS LADY POSTING A BREASTFEEDING PIC? EW, GROSS. Well, this post isn’t for you. Not sure if you’re like me but as a busy mom of 4, I’m lucky if I can take the time to actually wash my hair. A good goal is to wash and style it at least once a week. With that being said washing once a week means my hair starts to look sad and oily and I still try to push one more day out of it. Haha. Frida Gertrude was born at 4:56 AM on September 23 after 48 hours of labor. She is 8.1 pounds, 21.5 inches long, and very healthy! A quick note on Frida photos going forward: I love sharing with you all and really feel like I’ve gotten to know a lot you quite well, and of course some of you I know IRL as well. But the truth is, with nearly 50K followers and a public account, I DON’T know the vast majority of people who see my photos. Rob feels pretty strongly about Frida photos not being all over the internet, and I do also want to respect Frida’s privacy. So many of you have told me you can’t wait for photos, and you have been so supportive throughout my pregnancy that I really wanted to share at least one picture, but going forward I plan to avoid showing her face on my public accounts. This might change over time, but I did want to be transparent with you and thank you for all your support and excitement about Frida ❤️ P.S. Since baby girl was born I haven’t really taken a lot of pictures of myself. To be honest I haven’t felt the cutest while being on the brink of exhaustion, unshowered, no make up, hair a mess, and living in baby stained PJs! Trying to give myself time and grace as my body and mind are recovering from the huge amount of work it’s been put through. Giving birth was the most challenging yet incredible experience of my life and honestly still amazes me every day when I think of what my body was able to do! Now nothing else matters and nothing compares to my love for her. This may not be the best photo of me but it IS a pretty accurate representation of how things have actually looked for me and shows the reality of post partum life which many don’t discuss or put out for others to see. (pic on left was the morning i was induced - 41w2d, pic on right was two days ago) WHAT?! seems like yesterday but also a lifetime ago. /// my postpartum journey + experience has been interesting - to say the least. the first two weeks are literally a blur. it’s hard to remember, tbh. i blacked out lol. i was so busy physically + emotionally that it was hard for me to sit down + process what had actually happened to me and my body. and even though i was in labor for 20 hours and pushed for 5, my recovery was relatively easy. it wasn’t until about a month ago when i REALLY started to reflect on my pregnancy and birthing experience. /// it’s a spiritual awakening of sorts; morphing into something different and NEW. and, that’s what i was afraid of the most going into pregnancy - the fact that my body was going to be rapidly changing. i was really nervous on how i was going to handle that. i grew to love my belly (which now looking at this pic makes me realize HOW BIG i actually was lol), my body and it’s capability to provide nourishment for not only me, but for my growing baby as well! /// flash forward to now - 3 months postpartum. i am finding my “old self” again but a new and improved version...a mentally tougher yet softer and vulnerable version. i am enjoying the process of getting my body back - not only so i can feel good/confident in my own skin, but because the process is HARD WORK. being pregnant (esp the last month...FUCK ME!) and giving birth was the hardest thing i have ever gone through, so when it was over it left me feeling like “what’s next?” . *continued in comments* - @hay.burr on Instagram

I was honestly impressed from the second I picked it up - they bring your food on a silver tray cart to your car, and pack it up while detailing each item. Like most women, I’ve struggled with insecurities about my belly, but ESPECIALLY now being married. Real moment: I actually took a pregnancy test a few weeks ago praying that could be my “excuse” for gaining weight. I’m just so tired of being nervous of what people think of me. I’m tired of people thinking I’m pregnant because my belly is getting bigger. I’m tired of hating myself when putting on my jeans that are getting a little too tight. But let me say this, ladies.
