Today is a day that I’ll never forget. We did not only loose a dear friend but a hero, role model and a legend. I know for a fact that I’m not the only person that looked up to Buddy in many ways. #gifted An actual miracle has been performed. The utterly incredible @rosieparsonsphotography has taken MULTIPLE photos of me and I actually love them. Anyone who knows me, will know my tendency to gurn as soon as a camera points my way. I think I can count on one hand the number of photos of myself that I like (I know, I know. Fiction, non fiction, biographies, etc. - - - Now when I go to pick up a book my brain can’t focus. I am so use to the stimulus of this digital device , I feel like I have ADD. - - One of the many things quarantine has revealed to me, is that my attention span has shortened drastically and it doesn’t feel good. Books, novels, reading connects me with my self, my subconscious, my expansive expressive being as images, voices, and places come to life in my head guided by the authors words. It’s magical. The table number we were given this morning. We’ve been living at number 17 for ten years. Today she’s on offer to a new family, and she’s looking more beautiful than ever. I’ve never felt too attached to bricks and mortar before, but this one saw my babies grow up, one was even born here. The ground holds one placenta and two guinea pigs. Many trees were planted and are now blooming. Part of our heart and soul is in this home and garden. That’s a huge privilege that I’m not taking for granted, as this was never our land to begin with. Feeling eternally grateful for a safe, warm home that has held us for this chapter of our lives, and for the rocks, boulders and trees that sheltered and soothed us. Smile! Why? Your main Malaysian brother just signed his first album deal in 17 years! So stoked to be on this new journey with french label @believemusicfrance. Yeah, France! 7 months of legal and logistical back and forth has now come to this, and I’m beaming. Believe Digital have been working with some of my favorite inspirations like @jamesvmcmorrow , @parcelsmusic and @cubsport , and it’s such an honor to be one of their new artists. So yeah, I’m properly making this new album; it’s all happening and I have a band of sonic warriors around me. And yes, the new songs are by far the most chilling and thrilling tracks I’ve ever worked on. I set an intention at the beginning of the year to manifest a team around me for 2020. The world then went psycho, but somehow my music family expanded exponentially. I’m also working with @nicheaus (@hiatuskaiyote @winstonsurfshirt ) for all my bookings now. So, I’m just so grateful that I can spend more time on making the art and being healthy, without being caught up trying to wear 10 different hats every day of my very melancholic life. You dont get what you dont ask for, and whats the worst that can happen? • My granny died of Alzheimers when I was young. I mostly remember how hard it was on my mom, and am so scared that itll hit our family again. • One of my to-dos before the year is done is to give blood. It’s a weird time folks. A very weird time to be alive. Most of BC is covered in smoke from the fires south of the border and it manifests a melancholy feeling I think a lot of us have been suppressing over the last 6 months. Certainly I have. There’s a hundred reasons why you could be feeling “off.” With everything so in flux it’s hard to feel like anything is certain. Even making this post feels contrived because isn’t it just obvious that we all feel this way? Some days it’s easier to ignore than others but today I can’t. How do we come back from this? How do we create a better future that we are all excited to be a part of? Back in 2014, “Digger’s Dinner” was held in the Commons Gallery at UH Mānoa, where all of Chan’s recent experiments regarding art and community were tested. Requirements were laid out for participation—contributions must be made from ingredients that they have grown, hunted, fished, foraged, bartered, found, been gifted, or stolen 🥬🌶🐟. The stats are very harrowing. 1 billion children ( that’s half the worlds population of children ) experienced violence in just last year alone! @polishedman focusses on prevention with funds raised through Polished Man going to trauma prevention and recovery programs for children at risk of, or who have suffered violence. The world health organisation has identified poverty as one of the root causes of violence against children, that’s why programs are funded through YGAP, using prower of social entrepreneurship to support people to lift themselves out of poverty and disadvantage. The also support some of the best trauma recovery programs in the world including The Australian Childhood foundation, SAMSM, Hagar Australia and the New York Center for Children, to help young survivors of violence recover and shape their own futures.
