When someone tells me they want to start slimming world VS When someone tells me they want to learn and educate themselves on how to align their nutrition with their goals (lmfao like this is a natural sentence to say) ANYWAY!!! I mentioned briefly on my story early about slimming world but I thought it needed a feed post. PROS✅ 🟢 Can be seen as quite communal and social so great way to meet people 🟢 Weekly weigh ins can encourage you to adhere to your ‘plan’ (at the detriment of guilt and self punishment) 🟢 May educate some of the basics in terms of nutrition CONS❌❌ 🔴 Heavily reliant on weight loss being the main contributor to progress which we all know weight is not equivalent to health or progress 🔴 Can create an unhealthy relationship with certain food/food groups 🔴 Doesn’t educate people on the basics of macro breakdown or calorie deficits 🔴 Very restrictive with categorising foods as ‘syns’ 🔴 Doesn’t encourage people to see food as fuel or as an energy source 🔴 Disregards the fact that FOOD IS FOOD and it is there to be enjoyed in all its glory. Now if you’ve done slimming world or are doing it and you’re enjoying it, you’re making progress then wooo go you!!! BUT you could choose a much more sustainable, enjoyable, cheaper and much more beneficial way to ‘lose weight’ or ‘shed a few pounds’. Cue my friend the CALORIE DEFICIT🤩🤩🤩 This may not apply to everyone and it may not be what you need to align with your goals however... Millie is 7 months old! We are honestly blown away at how quickly time is passing and we truly feel like the luckiest parents to have this perfect little angel in our lives!!!! Ryan says she is a mamas girl- I agree but she also loves anyone she meets (especially animals!) She loves her piggies 🐕 Millie LOVES food- especially spaghetti: see video of her clearly annoyed that I was too slow helping her eat 🤣 She has ✌🏼teeth and we can tell the top two are trying to make an appearance She still chooses walking over crawling but she is army crawling in a circle and backwards so I THINK we are close She hasn’t had a poopy diaper in 3-4 weeks (she poops and sometimes pees in the potty 🙌🏽) She currently loves naps and often needs to be woken up from them so she will sleep at night 😆 She’s babbles ‘dadadadada’ and ‘bababababa’ and a couple times ‘mama’ but I’m not sure she knows what she’s saying quite yet. She squeals and makes lots of adorable squeaks and we LOVE IT!!!! Honestly I could go on all day. Also- I am so thankful to have Ryan. My goal always has been to inspire you ladies to be your best selves. To focus on what your body can do, instead of chasing an unrealistic body type. Life is such a wonderful gift. Bringing in life is by far the most overwhelmingly powerful thing I’ve ever and will ever do, I’m convinced. It’s a daily reminder of how life is good, life is miraculous, life is abundant. I think culture has a way of attempting to disrupt the beauty of pregnancy and parenting with fear. In various forms like finances, health, age, responsibility, appearance, purpose. We make it about ourselves— we make life about our plans and attempt to hang tight to them, not realizing the very hidden truth of just how much more enriching life is when shared. Babies enhance life. They disrupt our plans for our own good— I think that’s part of the enhancing factor. (We have to take the time to pause, feed them, hold them. Sometimes that literally requires putting your phone down, a very countercultural act). Our best memories aren’t from that one time we watched a video on YouTube. They aren’t when we shared that post on our Instagram story. It’s real life, real time, phone down, WITH people. The past 365 days have certainly included our fair share of challenges. But beyond any other year, this has been the largest accumulation of joyful moments than any one before— thanks to this little man. Newborn snuggles and jammies, long strolls, coffee outings, Disney+ rainy days in bed, putt putt in the baby carrier, Christmas tree shopping. So many good things, so many shared experiences we wouldn’t have had otherwise. Happy birthday, OG. We love you so. We love what you so innocently teach us about the world and about our Father. Monday morning; here’s to a new and fresh week ahead! Being completely honestly my weekend was a bit all over the place, you know when you are already feeling a bit emosh and then everything seems to hit you 10x harder?
