Hoje é nossa última noite em Lisboa. Todo mundo já teve algum “mixed feelings” na vida, e hoje estou em um desses momento aí. Eu sou apaixonada por esse lugar, e eu andei tanto por cada pedacinho dessa cidade que sinto que deixei meu coração em cada um deles, como pãozinho trilhando caminho na floresta, sabe?! Por mais que estejamos indo para menos de 20km daqui (pra quem é de São Paulo isso não é nada 😅), estamos indo para outro concelho, outro distrito, e nossa casa não é mais Lisboa. Mas, os pães foram jogados, e meu coração sempre estará vagando por aqui, e a um pulinho de distância pra matar a saudade quando quisermos (já estou prevendo meus rolês de bike até Belém pelo barco, me aguardem 🚴). Além da “já saudades”, abro espaço pra felicidade no meu peito também, nessa fase que desejamos tanto: estar pertinho do mar, um lugar mais tranquilo, uma experiência novinha pra explorarmos de coração aberto. Afinal, home is where the heart is, e meu coração está com esses 3 seres que me acompanham há um tempo, 🧔🏻👦🏼🐶 e sei que sempre seremos felizes onde estivermos pq somos nossa própria casa. Another annual kitefest success! Warm conversations, new friends and in my third year I’m watching kids get taller!! It’s a lot of work and I’m just making it out of there packed up using the headlights of my car and my iPhone flashlight and I may not feel my feet again till tomorrow lol but it felt sincerely heartwarming and so beautiful to watch parents and children really enjoy today’s little pumpkin patch! One little guy turned to me and said ‘this is so fun- this is the best time I EVER had....wait- put the brakes....like in your entire 7th grade life! I mean those heartwarming reviews is what kept me smiling all day! The Aurora Centre, our specialist, non-residential FE centre for young adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, is pleased to have welcomed back 100% of its students. They are attending a work placement at Farm Road Pavilion for two days a week, an outside space where theyve been working hard to create a nature trail and clear an area for 460 trees, which will be donated by the Woodland Trust. The physical activity helps to support the sensory regulation of many students. The group was also joined by a number of other students who tried this type of work for the first time, which meant their peers back in college had a bit more space to socially distance. So this sucks... Navy Pier is closing for an indefinite amount of time and my position is not needed at the moment. For now, Im joining my countless friends, colleagues, allies and artists on the sidelines as we patiently wait for the country to re-open and fun to resume. It will and we will be ready. I started at Navy Pier working in an inflatable Snow Globe almost 7 years ago... since then Ive been able to book bands, install public art, cast acting talent (and play with energy balls), coordinate Fireworks, produce large scale concerts and events and travel the country/world searching for arts partners... it was a dream job and it changed my life forever. I dont know if Ill be around when the Pier re-opens, but I cant thank that organization enough for taking a chance on me. Through some miracle we were able to operate this summer. I cant begin to explain how proud I am of the work we pulled off (safely) and the light we provided in such a dark moment in our city and country. Im going to be fine and Im blessed for that - for others in my industry the path ahead is terrifying. This industry and its contributors need relief... immediate relief. To everyone that Ive worked with over the years, thanks for being a part of my journey, you helped me grow so much. To anyone thats ever been to one of our events, THANK YOU and please keep going to what you can safely attend and/or find ways to support the industry NOW. To the guy that flipped me off this weekend for asking him to put a mask on... youre the problem... even so thanks for supporting live music. Panel 8: “The Rescue” This panel shows the rescue of patients from Charity Hospital during the flood that followed Hurricane Katrina. The film “Big Charity” directed by @alexglustrom features an interview with a nurse whose father showed up on the front steps of Charity Hospital in a boat to rescue her. He had traveled from Lafayette in a convoy with the Cajun Navy. However, this nurse committed to helping save her patients who were stranded at Charity. They were out of power and all hands were on deck to keep everybody alive with zero technology. She decided to stay. Her father left, and contacted Louisiana and Texas Wildlife & Fisheries. He returned with a fleet of airboats that proceeded to rescue the patients out of Big Charity. If you haven’t seen the film yet, it’s available on Amazon Prime. 3 years ago today I’m in China hooping in like 100 degree weather. Me and the boys were just working on development and just doing the daily grind overseas. From 2014-2018 we were flying back and forth almost every 2 to 3 months and to be honest, shit was exhausting. - I missed out on so much of my kids early life, a lot of little milestones like first steps, picture day, graduating kindergarten....I was gone. I was so obsessed with monetary success it blinded me to what was important.....them. - Because of everything that has happen it’s forced us to alter how we work with all our vendors. More zoom, more calls, more WeChat, more shipping.....but to be honest, it’s all good. I was able to gain more time with my family. 2 days ago I had the honor to speak and production manage at ONE VOICE. This 5-hour action day + “event” activation in Los Angeles, brought together The @liveeventsco , @californiaeventscoalition in conjunction with @nito_live to bring awareness to a huge cause that is super important to me, Matt with the Hat and to all the other small business owners in the #liveevents world. This Live empty “Event” produced beautifully by @sterlingengagements at @laliveevents with cooperation from @aegworldwide is our attempt ( The Live Events community) to draw attention to our livelihoods, businesses and careers that are hurting as we are the one major global industry that was the “First to Shut down, and Last to Reopen” as we are dependent on gatherings of all sizes to exist. As the supplemental aid runs out, the event industry and all our 12 million faces are still unable to work until large gatherings allowed. So many of my colleagues are hurting worse then I and many will have to shutter their businesses in the months ahead and lay off thousands if not 100 of thousands if some government outreach can be provided. Het resultaat is immers veel minder belangrijk dan de handeling. Kwantiteit gaat soms boven kwaliteit. With the current climate of Covid19 within our community, from 16 March 2020, the Australian Government has taken the precautionary measure of recommending public gatherings involving more than 500 people be cancelled. With Victoria now amidst stage 4 restrictions, and these possibly easing late into October, large gatherings are not looking at being eased till more than likely at the end of 2020. Organising an event like WVD takes a lot of resources, thousands of hours, hundreds of volunteers, and many, many months of planning. And we cannot see this happening with the time we have left in 2020. Therefore it is with great disappointment that we have decided to cancel World Vegan Day Melbourne 2020. Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. But we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today. We have been waiting till the last possible minute before making this announcement hoping that the restrictions will be released in time for World Vegan Day. However the latest news from the Victorian Government is that this will not happen in time for our event to take place. Right now, the most important thing all of us can do is focus our attention on helping people with the new challenges we all face. We would love to thank all of our sponsors, exhibitors, and patrons for all the patience, love and support you have shown over the last several months! Take care, stay safe!
