In this interview, Brown discusses how his journey in the music world began as a way to help his autism when he was a toddler. By age 12, he joined the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles which exposed him to perform at the Walt Disney Concert Hall numerous times, played at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, performed on stage with MC Hammer at the Staples Center, and government officials such as Kamala Harris. Brown is currently a Junior at Morehouse College, majoring in music performance with an emphasis in trumpet. We are thankful, excited and full of joy: this morning we received the news that we’ll get a funding from Fonds Podiumkunsten ( fund performing arts NL) for the coming 4 years. This allows us to keep making the beautiful things we have in mind, to carry out the plans that would otherwise never have reached reality, to perform on places, festivals and venues that bring joy and love to the audience, and last but not least; ( especially in these dark times) make our existence possible! At the same time, a lot of important and world class groups, dancers and actors didn’t get funding. And this is a great loss. In the last couple of months we’ve experienced not only the importance of healthcare and crucial professions, but also of creators of arts. If we want to create a world that’s better then before, more funding is necessary to allow more beautiful things come to life. For now: we’ll have a drink and toast to all the people in our organisation and to you: the audience. Hope to see you soon! We zijn dankbaar, opgewonden en vol vreugde: vanmorgen ontvingen we het nieuws dat we de komende 4 jaar financiering krijgen van Fonds Podiumkunsten. Dit stelt ons in staat om de mooie dingen die we in gedachten hebben te blijven maken, om de plannen uit te voeren die anders nooit de werkelijkheid zouden hebben bereikt, om op te treden op plaatsen, festivals en locaties die het publiek vreugde en liefde brengen, en last but not least; (vooral in deze donkere tijden) ons bestaan mogelijk maakt! Tegelijkertijd kregen veel belangrijke groepen en dansers en acteurs van wereldklasse geen subsidie. En dit is een groot verlies. In de afgelopen paar maanden hebben we niet alleen het belang van gezondheidszorg en cruciale beroepen ervaren, maar ook van makers van kunst. Als we een wereld willen creëren die beter is dan voorheen, is er meer financiering nodig om mooiere dingen tot leven te laten komen.
