Stretch vs. Torque? At CP-Carrillo we are asked constantly what the assembly torque specification for our bolts is. While torque is a relatively easy and fast way to assemble non-critical engine components, a higher degree of precision is required when assembling a connecting rod. When assembling a connecting rod we are not merely putting two pieces of metal together, no there is much more going on. Specifically there are two things we are focused on; bearing crush and clamp load. Correct bearing crush is achieved when sufficient clamp load is applied. If too little clamp load is applied the big end bore of the connecting rod can distort and cause premature bearing or bolt failure. So with clamp load being so important how do we insure that proper clamp load is applied? The answer is stretch. At this point many people would say “hold on there, because doesn’t torque tighten enough?” Most of the torque applied to a fastener is absorbed overcoming friction forces in the threads and the surface area under the fastener head. This results in a accuracy of +/-25% and depending on lubricate and cleanliness can be far worse. Tightening a fastener through elongation (stretch) results in a much more satisfactory +/-3% accuracy. So why do we need to be so accurate? To achieve the maximum clamp load we need to stretch the bolt to its proof load. If we stretch the bolt too much we both yield the bolt and distort the bore housing, too little and we do not achieve enough clamp load to keep the split line of the connecting rod closed under engine loads. Always refer to the Carrillo bolt instruction sheet when determining how much stretch to apply to your bolts. By-pass on a wisdom tooth!! ⠀ As the patient had her first molar extracted some years ago, the 38/17 became strategic for the function. So we decided to try to keep it. It took me some time, but I succeeded in by-passing the instrument. My technic? I stole @alexandraminard_endo one!! I pre-bended K file 10 and I use her movement: screw 1/4 and pull. It was very efficient. I didnt succeed in removing all of the gutta in the mesial root canals. I use a lot of hypochlorite. - 1983 Honda Goldwing. This is the wire connecting positive battery terminal to the starter solenoid. Someone told me its not the right type of wire and is way too big, but I have no idea. Is this okay or not?

Ok @mangos_endo_house before I wish you and everyone a great weekend I wanted to share this case because it reminded me of the issue we discussed earlier today. Periodontist refereed this woman to me for #rootcanaltreatment on her 1st molar. Not sure you could pop more lateral canals than I did. Mesial for sure. Palatal everywhere. Apical for sure. And mid root. Could be strip perf’s but I doubt it. Didn’t open it much and used typical.04 taper. Also, as you will see, palatal healed great. Everything healed great except for MB. Is there and MB2. Amazingly no. The canal is centered the entire length of the scan. But the last PA is a 6 year check which shows the big palatal RL healed but the mesial did not fully heal. So what to do? So far nothing. It’s been 9!years now and she is fine. Some day I will have to cut the MB to perfectly fix. But it’s been 9!years already and so far, we cool. Not sure if I will ever cut this? Or maybe next year? Not everything is so straightforward. Patient will hopefully come next March for the 10year check. I just let it go, without pushing. I was at the length of the three canals after less than 2 minutes. I took the time to verify the lenght with a K file and my EAL, then cone fit, and 40 minutes of irrigation and activation!!
