a new commercial for @visittirol that I got to DP for. You can swipe left some quick behind the scenes pictures. . This was produced right at the end of the corona shutdown time. So we kept it really basic and stripped down with team and equipment. The ‘team’ actually only consisted of art director Thomas Lehner and myself and we used natural light only. We communicated with director Anna Moll via some whatsapp messages, sending screenshots to get her feedback and input. Rama Setu - An Ancient Engineering Marvel Indian civilization has strong tradition of sci & tech. It was land of sages, scholars, and scientists. Hindu is a knowledge based civilization, the Vedic texts cant be dismissed as mythologies or as work of imagination Let us know the greatest engineering marvel of all time.. Rama was the world’s first king to build a bridge across the sea. But he did not do it on his own. He sought the help of a Nala, an engineer who has designed the whole construction. The text of Ramayana gives the records of the building project in detail. As the epic says, there were special stones employed; namely, they could float on the water surface. Actually floating stones can be still found on the coast of Rameshwaram where the bridge starts in India. Some scientists claim it is pumice, which is the volcanic rock that can initially float on the water due to its smaller density. The theory of pumice stones, however, has been strongly contested. First of all, there is no volcano in the areas of Rameswaram, nor any evidence of its existence there in the past. So how did pumice stones appear there, if they are volcanic rocks? Athough rocks found near the bridge are similar to corals or pumice in appearance, at closer examination it is found that they are not. After all, the concept of floating stones found in Rameshwaram and potentially used in Ramayana has not been explained yet. But NASA also confirmed that there was a bridge through the satellite pictures. Some may argue that it was some natural rock projection. Any wise engineer will use such naturally elevated areas instead of deep waters to build a bridge. What a trip!! And the coral!!! 👌Over the weekend @kianasaildive set out on a 4 day exploratory mission with @masterreefguides as part of the #remainingconnected project. Aim was to explore sites for future expeditions on Kiana and conduct @eyeonthereef surveys at each site. And wow... a couple of the spots we found were among the best the lot of us had seen. Incredible reef slopes and cracks that have avoided the impact of cyclone Debbie, totally covered in coral. The first pic shows the cover at the second spot we checked at Elisabeth reef. Take a look at the progress on the floating wetland area of Pier 26 in New York Citys Hudson River Park! Along with Biohabitats, @olininsta , @rva_ny , @mueser_rutledge , and @tillett_lighting_design are bringing dynamic ecological encounters to an urban environment. This constructed floating wetland, planted on PET planting media units from Floating Wetland Solutions, was designed to mimic the ecotones of a coastal ecosystem featuring a rocky intertidal zone, low marsh, high marsh, and coastal tree and shrub area. Ecotones are transition areas between two biological communities, and each of the areas within the wetland are designed at a specific elevation to be representative of that particular zone. The boulders surrounding the edges of the wetland area are designed with depressions to create tide pool habitat that is common in the intertidal zone, which may be used by various bivalves, crabs, and small fish species. When youre in the Southern Ocean and the sunsets last for hours.....⠀ ⠀ As we reached the southernmost point of this trip, I experienced some of the most awe-inspiring ocean views of my life. It never truly gets dark below 60 degrees South in the summer. But even knowing that I didn’t expect what turned out to be six hours of sheer beauty.⠀ The sunset began around 9pm and, due to the time of year, proceeded slowly. An hour later, the pink and orange were still glowing so brightly that every surface of the ship reflected the color. Crew and scientists lined the decks to take pictures, which may be beautiful but don’t do justice to the experience. Well, I missed my stop on a ferry. Never done that before. Not quite the same as missing a stop on the train or bus. I meant to go to Galiano and now I’m on Mayne Island. After melting my face off with panic, I found some help. With the help of some of the locals specifically Tara and Teresa (they called all their friends with boats) and found me a ride across to Galiano. Right when it seemed hopeless and I’d have to wait here until 5:30 pm, they called this man named John who offered to take me across at 1:15.
