🏃🏼♀️🍂The first day of fall always brings me back to cross country season🏃🏻♀️🍁 That’s where it all began for many of us! 🏃🏾♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃♀️🏃🏾♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ I remember my first ambitious goal in running was to make the Footlocker National XC Championships as a Senior in High School. I played soccer the other three falls but my best sport was track, and my best event was whatever was longest. One of the girls I race against said I should try to make the National XC meet, since my track times were at that level. She told me they also gave you loads of cool gear, you met pro runners and had a super fun time at (then) Disney World. The beast was unleashed and I started in on a months long mission to make the meet and see how I stacked up. 🤞🏻 First we had to create a team, so I could practice racing on actual courses . The team ended up being just me, which was not ideal but oh well- off to the races. It was really challenging and fun to tackle the hilly, grassy, winding routes. Four months later I was on my first ever flight to get to Florida for that National XC Meet. I remember training in layers of clothes back in New York to be ready for the December “heat” down south 😂 I ended up 4th and it was really eye opening to see and talk to the other top high school runners in the country. Some of them I’m still racing today but many of them I never saw again. It took a while for me to see and understand that pattern and what was behind it. One of the women I raced often throughout my career and shared many miles and meals with over the years is @saraslattery . Her story starts a lot like mine, and we’ve been talking about what we’ve seen and learned along the way. That’s a wrap on the 2019/20 track season. Plenty of positives to come out of it. Thanks to my family, training group/coach and the people I’ve met since moving to Melbourne last February. Definitely wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I did this season without you guys! 💁♀️💁Remember when...💭 Remember that high when crossing the finish line of a run you have been training for for months? Or that winning feeling when the siren sounds in the Grand Final - the underdogs have done it again! There’s no denying it sucks that sport and events have been cancelled this year. But when we get back to it, we will appreciate it more than ever! Now is a perfect time to reflect on what we have achieved over the years. We sometimes don’t get that chance as we are too focused on the next thing. The Pro Feet team have some pretty amazing achievements under their belts and we wanted to share them to start the week off. After all that anticipation, having held on to the dream of another @britishathletics medal ever since Glasgow back in Feb to keep myself motivated during lockdown, I almost fell over my own feet two laps in and ruined it all! Have you made mistakes or fallen short of your goals? 🙋♀️ Yup, me too, & ninja this year was one of those. A split second pause (my mind said dont rush it like I have in Vegas), & as soon as the moment passed, I knew that I shouldve jumped. It was hard to fall so early, not get a buzzer, & not move on to the next round (my 1st yr, season 5, is the only time I didnt move on. So many of us fell on the 5th obstacle & I didnt go fast enough). Knowing it could be my last season for a year or more, I put even more pressure on myself to do well & leave on a high note, but God had other plans! 😂 . I also had a peace from God that it was ok, despite my competitive nature being sad. I have been blessed with so many incredible experiences on ninja: Ive met wonderful people, have gotten to hit 4 buzzers (including a city finals buzzer 😍 a long time goal), have gone to awesome events, have prayed & shared hearts with so many, & have played on some fun obstacles (including stage 3, another long time goal!). 💞 I have been very blessed, & I am sooo grateful for every experience on ninja, even the ones that didnt go the way I hoped, because they challenged & grew me. . I know many ninjas who are talented & strong, & have gone out early on the show. All of us have experienced that at some point, whether on the show or at a gym comp. So many havent gotten to show the world what they are capable of, & regardless whether they get to or not, itll be ok! 💓 The ninja community knows how ninja goes, & that one fall doesnt define you. We know that disappointments are inevitable, & its ok to be sad about it. Disappointments teach us, they make us stronger if we let them, & they give us even more fire & motivation to train harder or better. . I love how ninja applies to life. We have all faced trials & disappointments. Its not easy, but we can come back from them wiser, stronger, & more emphathetic & helpful to others as well! 💞 . . This picture was taken on the first day I met @sarahall3 in the late fall of 2000. I’ll never forget that moment. I failed to make a good first impression because I was all out of sorts after my first loss of my high school career on Mt. Sac’s famed cross country course, but thankfully Sara was able to look past that. Today we celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary and I feel the same way as I did as I got to know her and we began dating during our first year at Stanford. I never heard a voice from heaven saying “this is the one,,” I just had a deep inner knowing that if I am lucky enough to spend my life with “this one” than I am the luckiest guy on the planet. - @ryanhall3 on Instagram

Gavin Sherry (Conard, Ct) and Brooke Rauber (Tully, NY) kicked off their 2020 XC season with fast 5000m track races. Running in the GSTC (Garden State TC) Fall HS Showcase #1 at Edison HS(NJ) the 2 stars showed they are fit and ready to go. Sherry cruised to a fast 14:43.15 to win by almost 30 seconds while Rauber took the girls race winning in 16:32.62 winning by 26 seconds. 📸 @johnnepolitan - @dyestat on Instagram
The first day of fall means ✌🏼things. It means that it is now more socially acceptable to order everything pumpkin and it means that it’s time to pull out the 1/2 inch spikes, singlets and short shorts, and where being covered in mud from head to toe is a badge of honor and also socially acceptable. Fall means cross country and cross country is where I fell in love with running. 💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡 It was an early September day and I was 14 years old, competing in what was only my second cross country race ever. We had traveled 7 hours up from Durango to race in the Arapahoe Invite, which took place in Littleton CO. To this day this was one of the coolest courses that I’ve ever run. There was grass, there was mud, there were not one but two creek crossings, there were hills, there were spectators running everywhere, it was running in it’s most pure and simplest form. And I remember thinking that this is what I was made to do. So from that moment forward I felt strong, powerful, invincible and confident every time I laced up my spikes and stepped out onto a cross country course. It didn’t matter if I was 15 chasing down my first top ten finish at the Colorado state meet or if I was 27 chasing down my very first USA cross country national title and a spot to represent Team USA on one of the worlds biggest stages, I always believed in myself out there on the grass. Cross country is where I still feel most alive, most like myself because it is where I discovered my inner strength, where I made life long friendships, and where I realized that I could do hard things.
