As the Official Sun Protection Supplier, we will partner with Great Britain Cycling Team across all disciplines to provide high-performance sun protection at the very elite level of the sport and shape the sun protection strategy for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. For the first time ever we have also created official sun protection guidance with British Cycling to encourage positive behaviour at all levels of the sport. As a passionate cyclist who has watched GB sweep up in the Olympics for as long as I can remember, it is bonkers that we will now be playing a part in the next medal hunt and whilst it’s a shame that isn’t in a couple of months, it gives us a chance to build on the work we’ve done together in time for Tokyo 2021 and beyond. Being stage lean looks awesome, but comes with some very real physiological & mental effects: 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 Hunger hormones (grehlin) increase while fullness hormones (leptin) decrease. Most competitors also notice their time thinking about food also increases. This is your bodys natural evolutionary way of tricking you into eating more & avoid starving to death. 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 70% drops in testosterone have been observed in natural male bodybuilders, but it has implications for women too. Significantly reduced testosterone levels have a detrimental effect on muscle mass, strength, bone density & libido. 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 Low body fat + high physical activity + low calories (specifically low carbs) can often cause female competitors to lose their menstrual cycle during a prep. When energy availability is low, the body will start to shut down certain functions to preserve energy for survival. Reproduction is one of them. If you dont have enough to feed yourself, how could you sustain the life of a foetus? 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲 Decreased lean mass, low calories, low NEAT, decreased hormones, increased mitochondrial efficiency & increased gut microbe extraction all contribute to a slowing of the metabolism. Its why weight loss plateaus occur during prep (or any weight loss program for that matter). 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 Even if you’ve never struggled with an ED or body dysmorphia before, the process of getting stage-lean is almost a simulation of these: there’s intense focus on the way you look, coupled with calorie/ food restriction & a need to fight against your body’s natural starvation impulses. I’m not here to scare you off from competing, it is absolutely a highly rewarding & worthy goal to have, but it should not be entered into lightly. Mi esposo por ejemplo empezó hace poco más de un año y pesaba 87 kg y ahora pesa 73kg. Lo más rico de esto es que no te tienes que limitar con lo que comes porque tienes que comer aún más 😂( tratamos de comer mucho en casa y saber que le ponemos a nuestra comida) Quieren más beneficios? Today started the @pikespeakapex 4 day stage race here in Colorado Springs.
