A pretty crappy chase yesterday, targeted the Brewarrina to Warren area in western NSW and just as I got close my vehicle konked out , probably for the last time , about 30 kms north of Brewarrina. The grass that wildebeest eat along their seasonal route is returned to the earth in the form of dung that fertilises the mineral-rich soil of the Serengeti – the perfect illustration of an ecosystem in delicate balance.⁣ ⁣ There is solace to be found in the seasonal cycles of the natural world. These resilient rhythms continue in the face of a changing world, but eventually the planet’s life support systems will fail if we do not protect them. Победители RFC в четырех основных категориях: В этому году Сахалинская область стала единственным регионом на Дальнем Востоке, где прошли внедорожные состязания в рамках RFC. Также этот год стал примечателен и тем, что все участники - сахалинцы. Раньше конкуренцию им традиционно составляли приморские экипажи, но в связи с ситуацией с пандемией, на этот раз островным спортсменам пришлось соперничать друг с другом. Несмотря на это, сахалинский Rаinforest Challenge-2020 собрал рекордное количество участников - 36, куда вошли любители и квадроциклисты. Плюс ещё восемь экипажей выступало в спортивном разделе на котлетах - специально собранных с нуля транспортных средствах. Победители RFC в четырех основных категориях: Light: 1. These New Mexican elk we’re a trip! They hate each other 😆 Bulls kept their space from one another. If I would bugle at them, they would run. If I cow called to them, they would run. If I snuck in on their beds, they would pick us off. This was level 10 out of 10 difficulty elk hunting. Then, a switch flipped. The Mantra beach clean-up event was a great success with almost 140 participants actively taking part. This was the first beach clean up event organised since the pandemic with all the necessary Covid-19 precautions being implemented. This event was originally scheduled to happen last Sunday on Sept 20th but due to excessive rains and flood situation in the region the beach clean up event was postponed for this Sunday on Sept 27th. We expected crowd to be 80 to 100 but it was more than 140 people gathering for this from different clubs. Everyone were asked to register their name, phone number, temperature was checked, mask and gloves were provided to all. Volunteers were briefed on the event and importance of segregation of waste. There was a briefing to all participants on the larger motive behind this event and also what impact it will have on every segments. Glass, plastic and synthetic materials were segregated accordingly and kept in different coloured bags to dispatch it to a recycling plant. Our volunteers were too good that we were in shortage of plastic bags which we had brought to collect trash. We had DIG Coastguard Venkatesh and NMPT Deputy Chair K G Nath grace the gathering. All volunteers who were involved in this event pledged to segregate the waste in their home and spread a word in their circle. Surfing Swami Foundation @ssfindia along with Mantra Surf Club, Young Indians and CII wholeheartedly thank all our amazing sponsors Thyme Mangalore, Adventure Worx, Bisleri, Kalbhavi Cashews, Aruna Masala for helping this event run smoothly and successfully. Somente na região de Campos do Jordão, São Bento do Sapucaí, Santo Antônio do Pinhal, Sapucaí Mirim, São José dos Campos e Monteiro Lobato são quase 300 focos registrados pelo INPE. Mas quais são as consequências disso? Além da perda das florestas, da poluição do ar, dos recursos hídricos, entre diversos outros, os incêndios estão MATANDO nossos animais! ⠀ Para você entender melhor quais são os impactos na fauna local, trouxemos a pesquisa da Geise (2004), que identificou 69 espécies de mamíferos para o maciço do Itatiaia, das quais 33 (47,8%) estão incluídas na lista oficial de espécies ameaçadas de extinção, ou presumivelmente ameaçadas no estado do Rio de Janeiro. Destas, 56 ocorreram na Floresta Montana. ⠀ Dentre essas espécies está o macaco Muriqui, ou mono-carvoeiro, o maior primata brasileiro e um dos mais notáveis do ponto de vista da conservação. O muriqui está criticamente ameaçado de extinção segundo IUCN Red Data Book (2008) e a lista oficial do IBAMA. Os muriquis estão ameaçados principalmente pela caça e perda de habitat, com poucas populações conhecidas. Seu habitat preferencial está fortemente relacionado às florestas da #SerradaMantiqueira. É por isso que um incêndio florestal dessa proporção é tão preocupante para essas espécies, que já estavam em extinção e agora estão sofrendo diariamente as consequências das nossas atitudes. Elas podem desaparecer! Precisamos cuidar melhor dessa biodiversidade. The Mantra beach clean-up event was a great success with almost 140 participants actively taking part. This was the first beach clean up event organised since the pandemic with all the necessary Covid-19 precautions being implemented. This event was originally scheduled to happen last Sunday on Sept 20th but due to excessive rains and flood situation in the region the beach clean up event was postponed for this Sunday on Sept 27th. We expected crowd to be 80 to 100 but it was more than 140 people gathering for this from different clubs.. with age group between 6 to 70. People were briefed on the event and importance of segregation of waste. There was a briefing to all participants on the larger motive behind this event and also what impact it will have on every segments. Glass, plastic and synthetic materials were segregated accordingly and kept in different coloured bags to dispatch it to a recycling plant. Our volunteers were too good that we were in shortage of plastic bags which we had brought to collect trash. We had DIG Coastguard Venkatesh and NMPT Deputy Chair K G Nath grace the gathering. All volunteers who were involved in this event pledged to segregate the waste in their home and spread a word in their circle. @ssfindia along with @surfingindia Young Indians and CII wholeheartedly thank all our amazing sponsors @thyme.mangalore @adventure_worx, Bisleri, Kalbhavi Cashews, Aruna Masala for helping this event run smoothly and successfully. Cheguei segunda-feira no Pantanal pra documentar o que está acontecendo em missão pelo @sospantanal . O cenário é desolador. Muita área queimada, bichos mortos, fumaça no horizonte o tempo todo e o cheiro de queimado constante. . Encontramos alguns focos pelo caminho, mas os principais e maiores focos já passaram por aqui, queimaram boa parte da região e estão seguindo. O que sobra são animais machucados e debilitados, com fome e sede. . Muita confusão ainda. Várias instituições indo de um lado pro outro, muita correria: a logística é bem complicada por aqui. De 1 de janeiro a 13 de setembro, já foram consumidos 2.916.000 hectares do bioma. Isso representa mais de 19% do bioma no Brasil, o equivalente a 19 cidades de São Paulo. . Ontem, durante o monitoramento no rio em busca de animais feridos, um pouco de alento e esperança: vimos uma onça-pintada na beira do rio, saudável e tranquila. Também vimos uma família de ariranhas, tomando sol em um tronco caído. Sinal de que o Pantanal é resiliente, que isso vai passar. . “En la vida, tenemos momentos muy positivos y otros no tanto, como los que vivimos actualmente, y es ahí que, algunas palabras de aliento nos pueden ayudar mucho. Cuando niño mis padres, cada uno a su manera, tenían la capacidad de alentarme a siempre dar lo mejor de mí, pero era mi papá quien tenía esta peculiar forma “Racing” de dar palabras de aliento. Frases como “siempre a fondo, si sueltas te ganan” o “esto es como un Caminos del Inca, aun te quedan más etapas para recuperarte”. En ese momento no entendía del todo las analogías, pero cuando fui crecciendo las entendí por completo. A que voy con esto: aprendí que la vida tiene mucho que ver con alguna pasión, deporte, o arte que practiques; en mi caso es el off road, deporte que, además de amar, me ha enseñado mucho para aplicar en la vida. Por regla general, debemos ayudar a quien lo necesite en el desierto, conocido o no, si necesita ayuda, se le ayuda, “entramos todos, salimos todos” es nuestra filosofía, trabajar en equipo, ser solidario, son los principales valores que tenemos. Me pregunto, ¿es tan difícil ser así en la vida? Si se dan cuenta, en este momento, el país necesita que todos nos ayudemos, como en el off road, si todos estamos bien, avanzamos, si uno está mal, paramos y lo ayudamos, pero jamás solos. ¡Vamos Perú!!! Hoy necesitamos de todos, son 15 días, lo que dura un Dakar, la mitad de un mundial de futbol, la mitad de tus vacaciones anuales. Entendamos que, para salir de esto tenemos que estar bien todos, entendamos que tenemos que estar “a fondo, si soltamos perdemos la carrera” y que también “esto es como un caminos del inca, aún quedan etapas para recuperarnos”, seamos ese equipo que lleva a su carro hasta acabar un Dakar, seamos ese grupo de amigos que entran al desierto un fin de semana siendo 10 y salen los 10, así el fin de semana les tome 5 días. Paralicemos el país como ese 15 de septiembre del 2017 cuando jugamos contra Nueva Zelanda, seamos ese Perú que todos queremos y no del que siempre nos quejamos. Demostremos que somos la mejor hinchada del mundo y en casa nadie nos gana, ¡ni siquiera el COVID-19!! Wire snares set by mostly bush meat poachers are very indiscriminate. This young giraffe had one but it must have broken free from one possibly set for a smaller antelope. It did stay on for long enough to cause severe infection. Only on closer inspection was it evident the wire snare had broken loose. The infected abcess/wound was lanced, cleaned out and he should make a full recovery. Giraffe are not the easiest animals to get down but the team did well to rope this little chap and keep him down by sitting on his neck. The legs are roped as a kick can cause damage, even from a youngster like this. Snares are not common at @andbeyondphinda. But common and on the increase across Zululand as communities and people start to feel the pinch of the ecomomic fall out from COVID, growing population and unemployment. - @simonjamesnaylor on Instagram
