Por este ser humano que mudou o jazz cinco vezes no século XX, foi tão apaixonada aos 22 anos (ela teve sua única filha com 17), que Sartre perguntou porque eles não se casavam. Dizia Gréco que Miles respondeu à la demagogia Don Juan: porque não quero fazê-la infeliz. Miles a visitou até pouco antes de morrer.
